The bard archetype... celebrity. I gotta know, what (generally speaking) does this type of bard do? I'm starting up a character for Council of Thieves and it *sounds* like it'd make sense, though court bard works well flavor wise.

What does it do?!?!

Basically makes the bard into a rock star. :)

So... flavor wise a court bard would be more true to the fluff of an actor than celebrity I presume?

Argh! Can't. Wait.

Liberty's Edge

Think Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter.

I really hope that it doesn't make you incompetent like he was, but I gotcha!

There really isn't a actor one in this one at least. Though the Geisha Archetype is pretty keen. :)

I can only imagine. I wonder what they did to differentiate it from the regular bard. Geisha can be easily represented with the original class (or rogue... or expert). Mind you, if they're given super assassin ninja abilities, that's a different thing.

They lose some weapons and armor. Gain Tea ceremony, gains bonuses to several skills and gains scribe scroll for free.

Why couldn't you have been that helpful with the celebrity? ;)

Seriously, sounds neat. I'm guessing Tea Ceremony is something you do with your party to give them bonuses or something before going off to adventure. Unless, of course, you calmly sit your opponents down during a fight and instruct them on the proper etiquette of drinking the tea and passing the cup, scolding them if they fail thus giving them penalties.

It's brilliant.

Well, thankfully I don't need a character that soon, but I do have agame next friday. So that will leave me two days to read, analyze, and absorb the book. And I already know that I'm going to be torn between classes.

The Council of Thieves adventure path was pretty much thrown on my group today for next week when lack of time to create her own campaign sunk my DMs homebrew game for a while. So I decided on bard with the Child of Infamy trait and, whoa ho! celebrity seems to stand out, by name alone. I'm lucky enough to know what I'm playing... just not exactly what.

Yes Tea Ceremony is exactly what you think. But I think the duration needs to be extended.

They gain Famous, Bardic Performance - Gather Crowd and Shinning Star.

Probably a 1 hour duration? I'd imagine so because that's what the detective ability that boosts your party lasts for.

Thanks! Though Famous sounds like it replaces Bardic Knowledge which means no stacking with Court Bard. : ( (and the other two performances... I'd guess they eat up fascinate and suggestion).

I have a question about one of the Magus Archetype.

What exactly does the magus give up when you go Order of the Bladebound?

Currently, I'm using the playtest version for my magus and I am very interested in going that archetype when I have to update my character to real rules :)

I feel like a kid on christmas waiting for santa to come.

Actually it replaces inspire courage ability. As for the Tea one, if it was a hour it would be better. :( I am hoping the time shown is a editing error.

Looks like they give up familiar and they are bond to a single blade. Among the other powers the blade they are bound to gets more powerful. Plus unlike a familiar it is less master/servant relationship and more of a partnership between the Magus and the black blade.

That... sounds wonderful. Gah! This is going to be a long week and a half!

I wish they had a jester archtype, yeah I know the court bard is close enought, but I want it in name as well as function.

So besides the new patrons...any other new goodies for witches? Like feats? How are the archetypes? How are the new hexes? Or any cool witch only spells?

They get something like 6 hexes, 4 archetypes which are ok, 21ish new hexes. I didn't notice any witch only spells but I have only skimmed the spells.

I also posted information up in the product thread too about whats in the book.

Returning to the Celebrity...

Which class features get switched out, and what is given in exchange?

Is the archetype any good?

In other words, do tell us everything, Mistress, for you have the entirety of our, or at least my, attentions.

-Matt is kicking around doing a Celebrity in PFS.

Just inspire courage, lore master and dirge of doom. I reread it and seen it lost more than I first thought.

Ouch. Losing Inspire Courage and Lore Master are big hits. What does the Celebrity receive in exchange for those?

What does the song healer lose from the standard bard abilities for it's abilities?

What are the new Sorcerer bloodlines/Oracle mysteries?

Better question; do sorcerers get anything new besides just more bloodlines?

True enough, those two are pretty tasty. Though I can't wait to see what Famous does in exchange. I'm already playing an optimized inspire courage bard so it's not that much of a hurt to have him do something else as long as it's useful. As far as Lore Master goes, it's neat but I wouldn't mind having a different thing going for him.

@Dark_Mistress

Less than an hour? 10 minutes or something short like that? I can see that making it a rediculously circumstantial ability dependin on what it does.

Ambrus wrote:

I seem to remember in another thread someone mentioning that there is a single sorcerer only spell.

The Sorcerer has one feat, 2 archtypes, and 7 bloodlines(5 Oracle mysteries)

Is "Famous" actually a viable alternative to Inspire Courage to still be a useful party member in combat or is it something akin to "Hey, I'm awesome and you love me; bonuses on Cha-based skill checks" which is great for RP but not so great for, say, when people are trying to shove pointy things into you and your friends.

Basically it summons a eidolon that fuses with them. They use their own mental stats but their eidolon's physical stats and most of the rest of their abilities deal with that.

Arrgh! Hmm... well... maybe I can make something work out with one of those archetypes as both celebrity and demagogue fit with my character concept PERFECTLY. Sitting at a +11 to Diplomacy at level 1, I don`t know how useful going `Hey, I`m awesome, another +1` will be. Gah.
