Hey everyone!
Although not exactly a Pathfinder version of Savage Species (the creation of which the inimitable Mr. Swank clearly has well under control! :), I though if ever there were a group of people who might be interested in the just-released Advanced Races Compendium hard cover from Kobold Press, it would be this group!
From the product page:
"The Advanced Races Compendium gives you everything you need to play a monstrous adventurer in Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Its pages are packed with PC racial feats, traits, spells, bloodlines, gear, magic items, archetypes and more for Gearforged, Lizardfolk, Kobolds, Tiefling, Gnolls, Shadow Fey and more — and it’s easy to adjust these classic and new races to suit your campaign’s power level."Please consider giving the Advanced Races Compendium a gander! Thanks!!!
Marc, that looks amazing! Take my money! I am so getting this.

Milo v3: I love a lot of these monsters and their classes, but there is a part of me that friggen loves the ghost class. In terms of mechanics and flavor, it rocks! It is designed to allow players to make a 1st level PC as a ghost, but I also playtested it when my 5th level PC died and the party had no money or ability to rez me.

*Looks at current game were villian is a ghoul in a house full of ghosts and a level 5 PC just died against ghouls*
*Rubs hands together*

Any chance we could get a teaser with the red dragon... I ask because I am creating a dragon for Skull and Shackles, and atm am using dragon companion handbook, but... there is much I dislike about it (for one, it sits behind the paladin in actual power, and many of the active abilities draw on uses of breath weapon, which is 1/day without feats, and each feat you take is +2 uses)

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

The succubus and the erinyes are two different beasts, even if they appear similar in artwork. If you can't wait for the succubus PDF, I know Necromancers of the Northwest wrote a succubus class here that is also based on the succubus monster, though I don't know how closely it will match this conversion's result, 20-level expansion aside.

I hope either Titan, Succubus or Nymph are next.....
We definitely did the succubus, just finishing up other demons to release it with. With so many monsters it is likely that not all creatures will make it into the first run. I don't think Titan is on the current work up list. Nymph was, but I pushed it done the list to work up options on handling her extreme Charisma bonus.

Wait a moment, Nymph was done but not included...
Though the high Charisma could be an issue for some GMs and Players....So it is understandable to delay it some....

I purchased your "work in progess" book (obviously, I'm a huge fan of your work). However the last update was on Apr 26th, and I need a Janni for my next campaign (starting as soon as all characters are ready). My son wants to play one who becomes an eldritch knight. Is there any chance I could get either the old copy, or the copy that is currently in art/layout? We are starting at lvl 1. I used to have a copy of your last released book before your work with Dreamscarred Press, but after changes in my computers and cellphones I can't seem to find a copy of it.

I posted this in the product page but thought I might get a better response here.
I have two questions regarding monster classes:
1. How does favored class bonus work? As the monster class is technically the race, I assume you don't get any favored class bonus HP/skill points with monster classes, but you do get FCB when you take a standard PC class?
2. If you take the alternate spellcasting, is you caster level for spellcasting from monster classes based on your character level like it would be with other races? E.g. I have a dryad that takes the alternate spell casting and chooses Magic Fang as a 1st level druid spell. At Level 7, I take a level of Ninja. Is my Magic Fang spell CL6 or CL7? I assume CL7 as it would work as per spell-like abilities of a race (a 10 level Aasimar has daylight CL10).

Hey Mythraine,
Sorry I missed this on the product page.1. Monster classes did not include any favored class bonuses, this will change in the update release that is soon to be released. Until then, yes, just use favored class bonus on any character classes taken.
2. In your example CL7 is correct. :)

Is there a living document version of this project somewhere?
Yes. You can get the subscription which will give you all the previous and future pdfs, or you can pick and choose from what's already available.

Anyone know where I might find a pdf of the newer Bestiary level pdf? I think it was 23?
It won't be on a readily available site, unfortunately. There was copyright issues with some of the monsters and Dreamscarred Press was releasing their own official version, so it was taken down.

![]() |

Is there any others available after 16? I have that one.
There were, but they were all probably taken down by the owner after he was told about copyright issues, and then he was hired to do them officially, so even more emphasis was made to take them down. If you do find a later copy, it'll probably be through back channel means.
