Oh come on its so fun to be involved in the madness. ^.^

Btw have we figured a marching order, I would think our meat shield would be in the front with a lesser meat shield in the back and the casters in the center. Depending on our rogues build he would be a forward scout or second line after our front runner. Any thoughts or better set ups?

Better do that sort of thing IC ;) To see if people even WANT to march in order haha


Added some IC comment to have Gael and Art at the front for protection plus perception. Tactically I would suggest Ember and Feraya next and then Hagin at the back. Hopefully he won't be tempted to poke Feraya in the back with his spear...

Yes on Perception and I personally rule that you cannot take 10 on Knowledge Rolls unless you got a class skill that lets you. Some DMs around here allow taking 10 on Knowledge checks but I dont think it makes a lick of sense to allow that :P

Well I guess as long as you know the basic's dispite the roll then their is no reason to take 10 on knowledge rolls. I mean if you roll a 1 on a knowledge roll for a werewolf it does not mean you dont know that basic info like their main weakness and what they are.

Also I think you said you cant roll untrained knowledge skills even if their class skills so thats why I left out those that would be directly more useful. Like say local and nature ^.^

And now Ember is going to worry about snakes the rest of the trip.


Paizo really does like using snakes in their writing. I ran a friend of mine through this after running him and some other friends through the first book of the Serpents Skull AP which happens to have a very large(human sized) bipedial snake in it. So for the rest of the book my friend was looking for another large snake...it was hilarious...almost as funny as the time one of his characters got their ear stuck to a mimic door...

Been wondering when we might gain a level?

I know we end this in 3rd level, ideally. But were almost at the crypt and still 1st level. So if anyone is keeping track let me know.

Hagin, you see what happened to Feraya? That's what Ember was worried about! I thought for sure that I would have been the one rolling down the hill to my death... and dying twice in two days is rough.

Of course, the way the party is doing just traveling, its a wonder we all survived childhood to get even this far. (~_^)


You will prolly end this closer to 4th Feraya. We are using the Fast Track for XP, and the XP gained thus far is posted in the thread.

I am sure someone has it but I can chime in if really needed :) After you guys sort out Feraya I will be moving things along :P

Btw I think the real test is in the crypt, so far its been shaky on some minor stuff so I dont think the team is too solid as things stand. Bunch of rookies that need to learn thru good old fashion pain how things should be done. I dare say our DM is just waiting to lay it down lol.

There are two modules that can be used as continuations of Crypt of the Everflame, each picking up where the last left off and following the same storyline.


okay first off...J nice new creepy avatar...

now back on point. Like Jlighter said there are 2 more books in this ark. Masks of the living god is the next one and then theirs City of Golden death.

And I'm sure you guys will work the kinks out...this is why I kind of want to see you guys continue on to the next 2 books so I can see the kinks work out and continue to see your characters develop.

I have no idea yet if I will be continuing to DM the next adventure or not. We shall see :) I like the group but I dont know how they feel about me, well beyond Art that is :P

I will get back to you after the crypt, so far so good. If you should make my guy a ghost in the event of his permanent death that retains his spellcasting power and rips the BBG a new one for sweet sweet revenge then you can count on my vote for DM of the month. ^.^

Btw city of golden death sounds just great, like here is all the loot you could want but once you touch it a demon is summoned to eat your soul. XD

I may let you. This was really supposed to be a "practice" game for me to DM and learn how to do it via PBP. So far I have gotten a decent grip of it I think.

We shall see what the TOMB brings though :D

Oh and Ember: What makes you think the tomb is any safer then a simple storm? :D

Out here I'm getting rained on and have a chance of dying. In the tomb, it is not raining and I have a chance of dying.
I think I want to be more comfortable when I risk my life.

Hey my guy is ready to go and he does not mind the rain, but I think the guys in leather or metal armor may want to take cover before they start squeaking. I bet that kills stealth checks among other things.

Shhhh.......you hear that, thats the sound of Feraya's silence cracking like thin ice under the weight of lost logic. ;D

Btw I think ember needs to really gain a level or two, having a bloodline of fire should make her more havoc prone. Guess she is still in her shell. Hope we get to see her burn some monsters to ash before the end of the adventure.

Divine Grace (Su): At 2nd level, a paladin gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (+2) on all Saving Throws.

Lay On Hands (Su): Beginning at 2nd level, a paladin can heal wounds (her own or those of others) by touch. Each day she can use this ability a number of times equal to 1/2 her paladin level plus her Charisma modifier (3). With one use of this ability, a paladin can heal 1d6 hit points of damage for every two paladin levels she possesses. Using this ability is a standard action, unless the paladin targets herself, in which case it is a swift action. Despite the name of this ability, a paladin only needs one free hand to use this ability.

Alternatively, a paladin can use this healing power to deal damage to undead creatures, dealing 1d6 points of damage for every two levels the paladin possesses. Using lay on hands in this way requires a successful melee touch attack and doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity. Undead do not receive a saving throw against this damage.

Smite now does +2 damage (+4 against undead or evil outsiders).
