As a DM used to adjudicating rules questions, I can solve the fish problem by saying: "Of course they can't climb; they don't have arms and legs."
Anyway, I'll just let things go as they are for now. I finally unearthed my copy of the AD&D Core Rules 2.0 with the Campaign Mapper program, so I'm working on a map of the valley both parties are currently in.

For the most part these questions are mainly concerned with figments specifically.
First off I'm wondering how liberal you are with saving throws vs Illusions? For instance, if I were to create the illusion of a large tree around myself, when would an opponent receive a saving throw to disbelieve it?
What constitutes proof that an illusory image isn't real? In a world where there are numerous creatures/abilities that allow solid matter to be bypassed, would walking/attacking through a seemingly solid object (i.e. an illusory wall) provide proof that the image wasn't real?
Personally, my take is that something like this would probably grant a saving throw (possibly with a bonus?) but wouldn't grant an automatic disbelief.
Lastly I'm curious as to how you would handle mindless creatures encountering an illusion? Lets say you were to create an illusory barrier, would a mindless creature simply accept it as real and attempt to move around it? Or would they ignore it's presence until they physically moved into it? Would they make a saving throw against it at this point or simply pass through it unhindered?
I ask because I have heard some strange rulings on this one and want to be aware of your thoughts.
Thanks for your time, I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

Your character wants a hiding spot from an approaching enemy and casts silent image, creating the illusion of a large tree around the area he's standing in. Then he stays quiet and concentrates on maintaining the illusion.
The enemy comes walking by. Here's were a whole lot of subjectivity comes in. Let's say the surrounding area is forest. Whether the enemy gets a Will save vs. the illusion is dependent on its interaction with the illusion. If said enemy is simply walking through the forest and goes around the tree, no save. On the other hand, if the enemy is actively hunting for the character, I might make it make a Perception check. If the enemy makes the DC, it might note, as it walks under the tree, that unlike the others in the forest, this one's leaves don't rustle as the branches sway in the breeze. This would prompt a closer look, and thus a Will save. (Unless the character decided the jig is up and just decides to take advantage of a surprise round.) Of course, if the terrain were, say, a roadside, and the enemy were familiar with the territory, they might wonder where the tree came from immediately. It still wouldn't get a save until it actually interacted with the illusion, but it would certainly be suspicious.
In the illusory wall example, if something corporeal moves through something else that appears corporeal, that does raise the possibility that either one or the other of the things might not be real. No automatic disbelief, but definitely a chance for a saving throw.
For mindless creatures, it depends entirely on the range of their senses. A black pudding, for example, has blindsight, so since an illusory wall has no substance, it won't register on the pudding's senses, so it will just slither on through. A centipede's ability to discern the illusion would depend on where it was headed. If the illusory wall was useful to get to prey, it might attempt to climb it, in which case it would go through it. As per the spell description, touching it reveals its actual nature, so no save is required.

Just something that has come up in the game, what would the proper funeral rites for a Baalite be? There's just some rudimentary knowledge about the religion that I'm starting to realize that the player is unaware of. Any other typical traditions I should keep in mind?
Ritual cannibalism is always a good place to start.:7)

William: It happens. Apparently your druid was without internet, so that's understandable.
As for being left out, both parties are reaching certain milestone points in the campaign. So I'll probably be starting a campaign journal that highlights the progress of both groups thus far. That way you'll be able to know what the other group has been up to without having to scroll through hundreds of posts.
Then, of course, there are the potential crossovers...
Stilgar: Good question. I suppose I'll have to dig up my gods material and post an overview of Baal, his religion, and his followers. Kind of like what you'd find in the back of an AP module. Short answer: Baalites normally practice cremation. (God of fire, and all that.) However, given that the villagers may have mixed...devotions, best option might be to wrap the body and bring the remains back to town.

General warning to all my games.
I will be out of touch for a week as I will be going to a place with no internet connection. This is a drive I do not wnat to make, with people I don't like, to stay with them for a week in a place I dont want to go for a time I cannot financially afford. If you do not hear from me in a week check the news for a mass murder. That is all.

Family vacation? In any event, we'll be here when you get back. I'll be sure to give Tarrana plenty to burn when you get back, so you can let out some pent up aggression.

Just curious here, What's the general concensus on the use of sense motive? do we have to volunteer its usage if we want to scrutinize something we've been told, or are we given a chance to detect lies when they happen? I'm sure there is an agreed method in pbp gaming, but I'd just like an overt statement for this game's purposes.
So: Are we assumed to trust what people say, or are we always scrutinizing?

Since it came up in my regular game yesterday, I figured mention this here, as it is one rule of mine I've overlooked:
Alchemical silver weapons do not do one point less damage in my games. It has the same hardness as stone and the same hp range as wood, and I don't recall wooden or stone weapons being given a reduction in damage, so...

Going on a short vacation until Friday. Likely no internet available, but I'll make an effort to update from where I'm staying.
-Listen intently to any decisions made at the meeting, keeping quiet unless he has information to present. He's said his piece already.
-Go quickly to an available shop and purchase some more formal robes for the Jarl's feast. (prestidigitation on regular clothes if nothing is open), leaving the majority of my supplies with the team.
Items taken: 1)marbles w/ finding sphere mixed in
2)quarterstaff/walking stick
3) scroll of comprehend languages
4) Bottle of Fine Wine
5) cash 55GP
-Arrive early at the location in the hopes of having some time for idle banter. Tuboo will sneak in if he is not permitted to enter at first. Magnus will make friends with any young folk in the Jarl's care. Old enough to form full sentences, but young enough to trust a stranger. I'll play marbles and use 0 lvl spells to make the game more fun. "So, little Jimmy, have you heard the grown-ups talking in quiet voices lately? what did they say? Know any good places to play hide-and-seek? There's a boy in Dunshale who's really good at playing marbles. His name's Willem. You should make friends. "
-After moving pawns in this way, Magnus seats himself at the table to eat. Remaining quiet and respectful as much as possible, staying alert to the goings on around him. He uncorks the bottle of wine and presents it as a gift to the Jarl at the table.
-Conversation begins, likely with the Nocturne attacks. "Indeed I was there, and my gnome friend was attacked by the flying ones. We pursued them to the caves to retrieve some stolen resources of our possession and to return the deputy. As you're well aware the situation in Dunshale is volatile. They need a strong sense of internal leadership and the deputy helps to maintain that. I don't mean to bring up bad memories for you, sir, but this is a frightening mirror of the events 5 years ago. The social climate today is such that the humans need internal support from their own people. I am not a mlitary expert, but from living amongst them I believe that a strong dwarven presence is likely to cause history to repeat itself. They need authority to be entrusted to them, even if it is only in title. This will keep them happy, and keep them obedient; freedom within their town, not the tightening grip of a sovereign. "
-As the night progresses and the alcohol flows freely, Magnus will excuse himself to use the restroom at a timed moment. He will use his vanish spell, send senses ability, and any other resources at his disposal to get to a hidden part of the building undetected and gather information.
-If Magnus finds documents of particular interest, he will take these and then use spark to set the room ablaze. Rather than disassociating from this fire, he will be the first to report smelling smoke. claiming to have gone to investigate the smell and found the room alight. He will leave the documents somewhere easily retrieved when he leaves, but not on his person. He will attach them to Tuboo if possible.
Some rolls you may need:
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Bluff 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Sense Motive 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Yeah, I just looked it over again. I think I was looking for a timeframe of travel. Since no one took the forced march option, I'll just go with standard travel time.

I'm still lurking around - not really interested in continuing to be honest. But since we already left town...once you can find a good place to write Jinjer out (or kill her off or take over as an NPC), please let me know and I'll move on. No offense to anyone - just kinda done with Pathfinder; the only reason I visit paizo.com is to check on this game.

What he said. As long as you don't say "Switch to 4E," I'm open to suggestions. If not, I'll keep her on until there's a spot to let her off the ride. No reason to kill a good character out of hand.

Trust me - it's nothing against you guys or the game itself. In my "old age" I'm regressing back to what I really love the best and that's 1E/2E Advanced D&D. The more I play 3.5/Pathfinder, the less I like it. In fact, I'm selling off some of my stuff here: Classifieds at Dragonsfoot

Ah, I see. Let me dig around in my basement. I'm pretty sure I've still got the 2E PHB and DMG in a box somewhere. I'd be willing to trade them out for a module or two.

Sounds good - let me know soon; I got another guy who wants to make a big trade but his books (the PHB & DMG) are not in great condition. I'd rather trade up with you.

Will be out of town and unplugged today through Sunday.
Considering you quit, you're a lot better at posting than the people I had in my prior PbP who were still in the game. :)
Seriously though, if you've got someone else lined up for those books, go ahead and take them. I'm having trouble locating the box they're in. Apparently my partner's son rearranged a bunch of stuff in the basement when he was living there temporarily, and things are out of sorts. Wish I knew where they were at...they're in good shape considering how old they are.

I have no one else lined up for the books as of yet; folks aren't interested I guess. So, I'm in no hurry - if I still have the PF modules when you find them, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

You're welcome to stick around as long as you'd like.
In other news, I'm working to expand my players' knowledge of the Wounded Earth. In a few days I'll be posting a write-up on Baal and his religion, either in pdf format on Google docs, or just as a post here. Daena and Kurnan will follow soon thereafter.
