Cleric of Abadar build

Advice

I'm looking for a martial Cleric build for my next character. The domains will be Travel and Protection. I haven't decided on a race, and ability scores will go Wisdom, Charisma, and Strength in order of importance. We can assume a high enough strength for Power Attack.

We can only use the Pathfinder Core book (no APG). There is no multiclassing and my DM doesn't use Pathfinder's critical hit system. The party already has a cleric, so I'm more concerned with using my spells to buff myself and I'm debating whether to channel negative energy. My goal is to have a melee cleric capable of hitting often and not taking hits. I'm less concerned with damage output and more concerned with making sure I hit as often as possible.

I thought Abadar was a good-aligned diety, thus channeling negative energy is a no no.

I think Abadar is Lawful Neutral. If I can't channel negative energy that's ok. I should also add that my DM uses the old rules that say a cleric can only use blunt weapons, regardless of deity. This opens up all martial blunt weapons though.

You're never going to be happy with a martial cleric that prioritizes wisdom and charisma over strength and constitution. Also, if you're limited to blunt weapons you'd do much better choosing a deity that has a blunt preferred weapon.

Is there a benefit to using a deity's weapon besides proficiency? I know it's not optimal going Wisdom and Charisma, but it's a handicap I am fine with.

No, just the proficiency (and flavor). Martial weapons are typically better than simple weapons, though; especially if your DM doesn't allow the morningstar because it can be used to pierce.

I guess I don't understand why you're posting, then. If you don't care to make your character exceptionally good then just throw some stats on paper and have fun.

You don't realy need a build. You have every thing you need to make thes character. With the restrictions you placed on your self. There is no why to make thes character better.

Ok, so after some thought what I'm looking for are good feat abd attribute selections for a melee cleric. Builds that emphasize either offense or defense are appreciated, and I'm looking for a build up to 9th level.

My character stats are:

Human Cleric

Strength: 18 (20 with +2 racial)
Dexterity: 13
Constitution: 12
Intelligence:14
Wisdom: 16
Charisma:15

Switching ability scores are an option as well. I was thinking of a feat selection like:

1st: Dodge, Scribe Scroll
3rd: Power Attack
5th: Craft Wand
7th: ???
9th:???

I'm at a loss for feats past 5th level. I was also going to put the 4th level Ability score point in Charisma and the 8th level one in Wisdom. Thoughts?

i would suggest going with a 2handed weapon and pick the vital strike chain and use power attack u might just get one hit per round but this attack will hurt.
i would also pick up quicken spell for those nice lvl 1 spell buff(divine favor)

A few things.
1. Min starting con of 14 for any melee character. If you want to go higher thats fine.
2. Your spell DC don't count for any thing. With a starting Wis of 13 and a +6 item you can cast level 9 spells.
3. Drop dodge and pick up Improved Initiative, or Slective Channeling at level one.
4. What domains are you going with? You might want to have a look at Nobility, Destruction, Travel, and War.

Human Cleric
Str 18+2(human) + 1 at levels 4,8 Total Str 22
Dex 12
Con 16
Int 13
Wis 14
Cha 15

Feats: Two Handed Weapon
1. Selective Channeling, Improved Initiative
3. Power Attack
5. Extra Channel or Weapon Focus
7. Improved Bull Rush
9. Greater Bull Rush

I was planning on going with Travel and Protection as my domains. Travel is set in stone, as it is a big part of the character himself. Nobility looks like a better option, but I'll have to talk to my DM about his thoughts on the Leadership feat.

I'll consider lowering Wisdom as well. I have my doubts as to how available stat boosting items will be. My DM is weird about magic items anyway, so I may just switch Intelligence and Constitution.
