1001 glitches with todays gamers.

Gamer Life General Discussion

it's just that, i am looking for 1001 glitches with todays players, whether socially, playstyle wise, or whatever. please join in if you wish

0001 references some MMO or other similar thing

0002 characters never bathe or take potty breaks. that's what predestigitation spells are for.

0003 rule of cool, players care more about the awesome factor than they do the rules

0004 loot goggles, expect players to kill and loot everything they see. regardless of the character's alignment nor motivations

0005. 'point and click' syndrome. players want everything to be a simple process of 'point and click'.

0006 lessened creativity. basically with the amazing simplicity of modern games, players are less innovative and thus require dumbed down encounters.

0007 never split the party under any circumstance, even to go to a different weaponsmith across the street. expect the same inn room to be shared by a huge entourage of player characters.

0008. own only 1 set of clothing or armor and wear it 24/7. even if it is plate.

Wow I think my table breaks all of those regularly:

We've had players miss combat over the need to use the restroom, and several of my own characters regularly take baths.

We'll sit and say "Yeah that would be awesome... but you can't do it by the rules... sorry."

We've kill enemies and left them completely alone because "They simply aren't worth the time to loot."

I would never play a caster if spells were simple.

0006 would mean that we didn't buy the yacht in CoT... or proceed to give the GM a diagram of it... or our houses... and which neighborhoods we live in... and where our parents were from...

0007 is broken so often it's not worthy of comment.

If the sorcerer didn't change clothes daily he complained about it -- loudly... to the point the wizard used the fabrication spell simply to make him a new outfit to shut him up... and our half-orc paladin kept a special chain shirt just for sleeping in.

I'm with you Abe - rather than add to this my experience (past and present) debunk most of the list:

0001: None of us play MMO so don't reference it. Ever.
0002: Nope as far as I'm aware most the players bathe regularly and even my pbp group strike me as a hygenic lot...
0003: Nope rules tend to trump awesome... those rulebooks are tomes of awesome rules right enough.
0004: Maybe when I first played as a 12 year old... since then gotta say not everything is fair game in the game. Hell I've left monsters with loot because my character wasn't motivated by wealth... strange but true (and I'm presuming that particular trail was blazed by plenty before me).
0005: Again I personally like the intricate elements of the game/system... Like Abe says magic, even combat is a complex beast if you throw in CMB and feat/class options.
0006: Really? No really??? Far from it - simple situations can become very complex through good roleplaying and interesting mixes of classes and game options.
0007: Really+1... try telling that to our current pbp group. We've split the party twice, and only had 3 encounters thus far...
0008: Changes of clothes, armour rules... yup seen them all play out on a regular basis. Like Abe I've had dandy characters have changes of clothes for every situation...

Would add one extra to the list:

0009: People who look at the idiosyncracies and variety that make up the gaming community as "glitches"... its pretty much the same as it ever was when you boil things down.

My 2 runes worth.

0010: Players who keep changing their ()*^*&*&)(*&)(*^ characters becuase their BARD doesn't do as much melee damage as the FIGHTER!! ARGH!!
