Recently I was adventuring, and I came upon a quandary. You see i'm unsure as to whether a Summoner's eidolon would be continually affected by persistent effects e.g. disease and poison. In our game we simply house ruled that they would be summoned with any persistent effects still in place considering that if you were to re-summon your eidolon and it had been damaged it comes back with the same amount of health. But clarification would be appreciated.

I'm wondering this too. What if it had been hit by an attack that would give it level or ability drain?
Also, if the Eidolon is killed and is summoned back the next day, it comes back with half hp but are all of the status effects removed? What it is summoned back again using the "Summon Eidolon" spell? Does it come back with half hp and no status effects?

The funny thing is that as an Eidolon does not heal naturally, temporary damage can be argued to not go away either.
Even if "killed" the Eidolon is just disrupted and sent back where it comes from.
When you die and get raised, as a character, if you were poisoned before death, then you are still poisoned.
If your Con score was less than 0, then the raising must be accompanied by Restoration spell immediately after raising, or you die again.
Those are the rules for players, so although it is not specified clearly for the Eidolon, the most reasonable interpretation is that is does not have it any better than player characters.
That means you must find advanced healing for the Eidolon for ability drain, negative levels and so on. - Just as you would for a player character.
In some cases a party meets area effect ability drain. As a Summoner this absolutely sucks as it hits your wallet twice. (character + Eidolon)
