Plague of Shadows Availability?

Tales

We have few options for getting books in my town - a Books-A-Million, and one comic shop. When I didn't find PoS at the former, I went to the latter. The owner didn't have it either.

I figured, well, I'll support local business by ordering it with him.

This might have been a mistake. It's been about three weeks now, and every time I go in to check on it, he tells me that the book is out of stock, but he is trying to order it. I find this hard to believe - it was just released, Paizo has had a number of advertisements around it, and when I check the product page the availability indicates it will ship from the warehouse within a week.

So my question - is this, in fact, available from Paizo? I don't want to buy it online and then have my game store owner get it in, and since he sells very little Pathfinder material in the first place he might have trouble selling it after. But on the other hand, if he is lying to me about it being out of stock, I want to go ahead and cancel my order with him and take my business elsewhere.

Edit: Oddly, some of the listings I see for it online have the publication date as March 15, including Amazon.com who has it in stock.

I got my subscription one almost a month ago.... and there has been at least one post on here about someone getting one @ Barnes and Nobel. Its possible that the store owner only orders from that particular distributer once a month (or it could be that diamond is being idiotic - our store has gotten a ton of backorder things the last month or so)

The release date was February 16.

Do you know what distributor your comic shop buys from? I know that Alliance, the largest hobby distributor, has copies in all four of their warehouses right now.

I don't know, but I'll ask next time I go in. If he still says it is out of stock I'll cancel with him and buy online.

Further info: Pretty much every comic store in the US has an account with Diamond Comics, and I'm pretty sure that they can also order products distributed by Diamond Books; Diamond Books definitely has Plague of Shadows in stock right now.

So it turns out Alliance was his distributor. When I feigned puzzlement, saying I had checked it online, he said he'd look into it and, sure enough, I got a call that afternoon telling me they "had to ship it from another warehouse". I should have it by the end of next week.

Meanwhile, I stopped in Books-A-Million today, and they had it on the shelf. If I go back at the end of next week and it isn't in, I'll not only stop doing business there but see what I can do to compete with the guy.
