Female Human Fighter 1

I'd ditto Sebastian as far as Quorum deciding group decision points, although I'd also think that characters might have standard reactions/goals that a Quorum could take into account if the person doesn't post during a decision point (i.e. Cleric advancing deity's agenda, etc.). I know Kaylen doesn't have a driving goal like that at the moment, though.

I'm open to adding other people as replacements or just to give us more bodies. Kira's player seems to have dropped out of a Serpent's Skull PBP I'm running as well. She hasn't posted in a while.

And I'd happily role-play "How to escape from a paper bag," if we find we need more experience. :)

Reckon it would hit 50 pages easy.

Sable I saw a post you had put up then redacted. I had responded, but then pulled mine too.

You probably did the math too. A DC 23 scroll with your +6 use magic device needs a 17 or higher for success and a 7 or less for a mishap of 2d6 damage or random item shrunk. My odds weren't much better and I almost had a mishap. Probably better off not messing further with the scroll, at least while we are 1st level.

Where in the Pathfinder Core does it talk about mishaps with scrolls?

Yeah, sorry about the confusion on that one, Sebastian.

Male Half-Elf (Taldan) Bard (Archivist) 7 Drow Stats 51/51 hp;AC 19/T 14/FF 16; F +2/R +8/W +3; Int/Wis Skills -1

Sorry! Misread that section, it was when activating an item without the proper use activation word. I was reading that earlier in reference to the wand, and I guess it stuck in the wrong part of my brain.

Good news is we can sell the scroll!

Male Not man enough to be human

Doesn't look like sebastian or sable could use the scroll. Page 490: The user must have the spell on her class list. Neither of you does. So in game terms, nothing happened.

Sure it did. We talked some high power mumbo jumbo that just happened to go over everybody's unschooled minds... Yeah... :P

Male Not man enough to be human

Sorry for no new posts yesterday/today. Decided to spend some time with my wife. We have an award ceremony tonight, so everything should continue tomorrow.

It looks like you guys are heading to the wharves, so if everyone wants to finalize their plans, I'll make a post in the morning.

If you LARP anything close to how you run Sable, it must be a blast (I was going to go with hoot, right there, but thought that might be too much) :-D

Yeah we don't have much in the way of LARPs in this country, we did twenty years ago, but nothing really since.

Hello back :)

Greetings, Winter. How are you this night?

VC - Sydney, Australia

Afternoon here, actually, and about to go get this evenings exercise in :)

Welcome to the game, so far it's a good group, and certainly some interesting characters... some of them HAVE interesting characters too! :p

Fluid Inter-dimensional physically detached consciousness Roguish Healer/4

Yes, I've been stalking the group for awhile now :-) I was quite pleased to find that Tom was actually looking for players again when I created Bree for this campaign in the hopes that he might.

It's almost midnight where I am at, I'm taking a short break from packing and homework.

male Aasimar Clr 3/Pal4 HP:62/62, AC:21/T:12/FF:21 - Percep: +13(Dark Vis) F:+10/R:+5/W:+14 CMD: 20, Spd: 20ft, Init: +2

4pm here, where you at?

Fluid Inter-dimensional physically detached consciousness Roguish Healer/4

Mmmmm... OK, I will tell you, but first, I must state that Wizard of Oz jokes are not well tolerated. I'm from a place called Wichita, Kansas of the USA.

Female Human Fighter 1

Hey, there.

Nearly 1 AM here, near San Francisco, California, USA. Currently procrastinating from writing a semi-major paper for a class of mine and catching up with the Internet.

I'll resist the urge to make Wiz jokes. Speaking of that particular book/movie/story, though, what think you of Wicked?

HA! I'm in the other 'Oz', Australia

Oh and procrastinating on a paper I am supposed to be doing too.

Yay for procrastination! Internet Five! Attempts to high five through the Internet.

Bi-WINNING!

I'm going to just have to smash my studies and get the show on the road hardcore - I was supposed to be having three weeks off so HEAPS of time to get squared away, but work rang... and my 3 cut to 1. oops.

Male Not man enough to be human

How does everyone feel about firearms in the game? I've done it before, where I just introduced it into the game, with no thought to the players, and their ideas about what fantasy should be.

It's not like you're going to see every pirate in Riddleport with one, making everyone envious, wishing I'd allowed them earlier. They're going to be extremely rare, if it gets a go-ahead.

Female Human Fighter 1

I'm open for firearms being present, provided there's good reason to have them. Visitors from Alkenstar in the area, perhaps, or people who have done business there.

According to the description in the Campaign Setting, they are fairly rare in Golarion, and Alkenstar does what it can to keep a limit on how many leave their control. They're also supposed to be hugely expensive. FWIW

Male Half-Elf (Taldan) Bard (Archivist) 7 Drow Stats 51/51 hp;AC 19/T 14/FF 16; F +2/R +8/W +3; Int/Wis Skills -1

Yeah..definitely not in favor of advanced weapons like revolvers and rifles. Rare flint or matchlocks would be fine, but nothing fast loading or rapid firing for me please.

Female Human Fighter 1
Sebastian DeGray wrote:

The game actually does call out revolvers and rifles as available weapons. Again, hugely expensive, and very Exotic. There are also a host of rules governing misfires and explosions and whatnot, and the ammunition and powder costs a bundle. That said, that's the Campaign Setting, which, IIRC, was written when Pathfinder was still under 3.5 rules.

Male Half-Elf (Taldan) Bard (Archivist) 7 Drow Stats 51/51 hp;AC 19/T 14/FF 16; F +2/R +8/W +3; Int/Wis Skills -1

Yeah, some of that ..i think..is being incorporated in with the Gunslinger playtest. But it is being treated as optional material...again I think. I haven't read it fully because it is not my cup of tea.

Male Not man enough to be human

The option I'm looking at makes them extremely rare, and there's no feats which allow for 'advanced' proficiency.

Not looking at rifles or anything modern. Just the flintlock.

Assuming you’re speaking about the musical (and not the unrelated book I saw the other day), I haven’t watched it yet. I’m not much into musicals, to be honest (unless they are animated or have Johnny Depp in them, apparently…). Of course, now I’ll have to make a point to watch it when I can, so that I can better answer this question.

The only thing I’ve been procrastinating as far as homework goes lately is my French. I love it and I love learning it, but I’ve got some things happening in my life right now that is making it near impossible to stay focused on anything for more than a few minutes at a time.

Personally, I don’t care one way or the other. I’ve already told you I’m pretty new to D&D, so it’s not going to matter to me much. I have played other high fantasy games, though, where guns were minimal but around and I think it worked out OK.

If you're talking about the book I think you're talking about, they aren't entirely unrelated. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West? The musical was based on the book, although significant liberties were taken with the story. I don't know how easy it will be to watch. I'm not sure that it was recorded for video distribution.

I can approve of Johnny Depp -centric musicals.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

I'm bordering obsessed with Johnny Depp. Especially since leaving my husband, lol. :)

Nah, this book was just some fiction book unrelated to The Wizard of Oz completely. My brother read it, it is about witches, I do believe, but not the Wicked Witch of the West, nor the Good Witch Glenda.

Maybe I'll get lucky and their will be a live performance at the Orpheum here in town.

Male Not man enough to be human

If people are going to disappear for a while, then come back and make a useless post, can you make sure you do two things?

1. don't tell me that you're going to be away
2. make a post when you come back that doesn't advance anything

Nothing wrong with that, he's a good looking guy so I can see what the ladies like, less cringeworthy than Keanu fixations.

It's ok, I'm a manly enough man to point out when another man is ok looking and for it not to be a questionable act :p

DM:

As far as guns go I'm a 'definite maybe', I'm fine with the old flintlock/wheellock, but would really prefer to avoid teh joys of high rate of fire pistols/rifles such as revolvers or even breechloaders.
Slow, noisy, and smelly is ok... high speed brassing up of critters is annoying.

My apologies if letting the party know I would be absent is more of a hindrance than a boon, I was just trying to inform everyone so nothing would be fulcrum upon any action or dialogue of Sable's to move forward.

In response to the Gunslinger/Weapons inquiry, I'm more inclined for flintlocks... though I have very fond memories of an Arquebus in 2nd Ed frequently blowing up and doing more damage to the guy wielding it than our enemies.

My character is a gypsy alchemist named Adryan the Mad, incredibly fun!

And in response to all the Wicked talk, I found the book to be quite enjoyable and I give Gregory McGuire a lot of credit. He read all 30+ of the Oz books for inspiration... I only have read half of them so far. I would like to pick them back up some day if I can ever find them without having to donate bone marrow to afford them!

Lol. Yes he is indeed quite good looking. I also like the characters that he plays which is where the base of my obsession comes from. I'm not the type to obsess over an actor who can't act, just because he's cute.

I think it is refreshing for a man to not be so afraid of having his manliness be in question. Personally, I wouldn't have minded either way ;)

What's wrong with donating bone marrow to afford books?

Female Human Fighter 1

Eventually you run out of bone marrow is the problem. Or, in some cases, you aren't allowed to. Sable, the local library may have a selection for you. Keep your fingers crosses. If not, Amazon probably has used copies, and there are websites that do active book-swapping. You send them a book, they'll send you a book off your list. Something like Netflix, but for books.

The fact that you provided a serious response to my question was just beautiful. Hey, he wouldn't have to donate much marrow to get a nice sum, enough for the books. :P

Oh, and Kaylen, by the by, if you haven't noticed it yet (I know it's too late to edit it) but I believe you referred to your own character as Kira in game.

I get all my books from Book Dep - good given the number I go through!

Books in this country are a huge rip off, we have a duopoly and stupid laws around the publishing houses which means we get gouged unless we buy from overseas (which those companies are trying to prevent us from doing!)

I feel for you deeply, I spend a vast majority of my free time reading. I have more books than what many people would know what to do with in a lifetime. Most of them are on my computer (I prefer to read on my computer, seriously considering getting a digital reader or other small hand held computer to take with me easier) but I have an over flowed bookshelf as well. My kid is only 3 and she has tons of books already.

Not a fan of ebooks - I like the feel of an actual book. The end of a chapter is usually a good time to turn off the light and go to sleep.

Fluid Inter-dimensional physically detached consciousness Roguish Healer/4

I prefer e-books for several reasons, the first being that my child can't chew on my e-book or steal my book marker. The second being I can manually adjust the text size, color and font as desired. The third being the most ironic, it's actually easier on my CTS (carpal tunnel syndrome), it is difficult for me to maintain a grip on anything for an extended period of time, this includes a book.

Female Human Fighter 1

By Gorum, you're right. I did accidentally call myself Kira. How silly of me. :P

If you're looking into some kind of e-reader, Kindel has a good reputation. The Nook has an interesting way to modify it to run an Android OS and turn it into a cheap Tablet alternative in addition to a reader. I'm with Winter, personally. Section- and Chapter-breaks are good stopping points for me, and actually turning pages just feels more right. Still, I like PDFs for a few things, such as most of my Pathfinder books, and all of my D&D 3.x/4E/Ravenloft books. :D

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Yeah my friend just bought a pandigital, it's basically a generic Nook or Kindle if I'm not mistaken. It' weighs a good 2-3 lbs though, and is pretty bulky. I saw something advertised on hulu.com the other night, I can't recall what it was called now, but it was really thin and about the size of a paperback. It looked pretty awesome.

Male Half-Elf (Taldan) Bard (Archivist) 7 Drow Stats 51/51 hp;AC 19/T 14/FF 16; F +2/R +8/W +3; Int/Wis Skills -1

I am still reading paperbacks, except gaming pdf's. It might be more that I always trail the technology curve, but I do enjoy the feel and smell of the printed page.

Although I do hear you Bree, I have trouble with big hardbacks due to CTS in my wrists, so I mostly read paperbacks

male Aasimar Clr 3/Pal4 HP:62/62, AC:21/T:12/FF:21 - Percep: +13(Dark Vis) F:+10/R:+5/W:+14 CMD: 20, Spd: 20ft, Init: +2

I have the Core and GMG in printed version, but for the gaming table I use printed copies of the PDFs printed four to the page double sided... small but handy and quick to flick through and I dont mind if they get hammered... normally at the table I use a netbook pc and the SRD, and combat manager when GM'ing.

Nothing like cosying up with a good novel and a tea before bed - so dead tree all the way for that! Oh and work related books, good to have handy for reference.
