As far as I know, the spell Shield only automatically blocks Magic Missile. My DM has told me that, if one of the foes our party encounters has a Shield spell upon them, my Alchemist's Force Bomb will be blocked by the spell. This doesn't seem correct to me. Anyone have an opinion?
RAW it only stops magic missile. Probably intended to counter the fact that magic missile auto-hits.

In short, your GM's mistaken (or making impromptu house rules).

Shield block the spell Magic Missile.
It does not offer any special form of protection against force effects other than the single spell Magic Missile.
actually there are several other force spells from 3.5 that shield stops (most of them being similar in nature to magic missile, such as chain missile and Mordenkainen's force missiles) these spells are not open content though so they do not appear in the Pathfinder ruleset.

It also stops an evoker's force missile ability.
However, that's only because these abilities and spells have one thing in common: They all specifically say shield blocks them like it does magic missile.
If a force effect doesn't have that trait, it bypasses shield entirely (unless it needs an attack roll, in which case shield grants a +4 bonus against it).
