Has anyone playing notice the drop rates of green, blue, and purple items are almost ludicrously high? I've run all 4 characters up level 10 to 15 and each one has at least 2 to 3 purple items, 4 to 6 blue and the rest green (I haven't even spent any of my gold keys). I've' noticed that green loot drops almost as much or slightly more than than white does and the vending machines now usually have purple items as the special of the day. It's almost to the point that the only rare loot is orange, it's almost making the game too easy.
Sounds good to me. That's a lot like what the first Borderlands game was like.
I didn't like Borderlands 2 as much for various reasons (didn't enjoy playing any of the characters as much as I liked Mordecai, until Krieg came out, frex), and the lack of good loot was a big reason why.
You had to get to Playthrough 2 just to start finding most rare things, and even the non-rare better versions of guns you like were few and far between (something I didn't experience in the first game until end-game, there was always something better in some form or fashion up until you get to 69 and start finding guns with the max statted parts).

I never played Borderlands but I think the loot drop rate in Borderlands 2 was just about perfect. You got enough green items to give you an edge without being overpowered and it felt like an achievement when the boss fights dropped blue or purple and orange was OMG I'm the luckiest badass. With the pre-sequel it's oh look another purple but not as good as my current purple, lets see if it'll grind.

As someone who had weeks (literally weeks over a period of 2 months) spent grinding for Tiny Tina's sniper rifle from the Torgue DLC, I have to say I hated BL2's drop rates. I tried getting so many guns in that game but could never get them to drop, and I'm not afraid to admit I abused exploits to help me do it faster.
It's absolutely absurd that the drop rates were as low as .0002% for a gun because of multiple factors. For example, Tiny Tina's gun drop required many things.
- The 'Burner' enemy had to drop an item
- That item had to be a weapon
- That weapon had to be a snipe rifle
- That sniper rifle had to be a purple or better before it even triggers the percent chance it's the Tiny Tina weapon.
Now, keep in mind that whenever the enemy's dropped an item, there was a chance it was ammo, health, a gun, gear, a relic, or Eridium. Even if the chances were all equal (hint, they werent't), that's a 1 in 6 chance of it being a gun. Then you have another 1 in 6 chance of it being a sniper. Then a 1 in 4 chance of it being purple, then it could potentially be Tiny Tina's gun.
That is, of course, assuming that all chances are equal, which they weren't. Each step required a progressively smaller and smaller chance to drop the next step in the drop process. Until it gets to the point where Tiny Tina's sniper had a fraction of a fraction of a percent to drop because of too many steps.
But it was like this with a number of guns and gear in BL2. In BL1, you knew you had a decent chance of finding any gun, but in BL2, you were practically forced into grinding for months on end, or duping, to get a hold of it.

Yeah, the only hard to get guns were the Pearlescent weapons from the Knoxx DLC, and at least they A.) Had a chance (however miniscule) of dropping from ANY enemy, B.) There was a boss with a higher drop rate for them (even if it was still small), and C.) STILL had a higher drop rate (and comparatively better/more unique stats) than a lot of the weapons from BL2.

I'm playing the Pre Sequel now and I have to add in how I'm in favor of the new drop rates. The vending machines even seemed to give out legendary things a lot more.
While I don't want things to pop up to the point getting rare items becomes meaningless some of the drop rates in BL2 got to the point it was past all rationality. There is a point where insufferable grinding and tediousness is not fun, and it counteracts the whole point of playing a game in the first place.
I also just picked up the first episode of Telltale games Tales from the Borderlands. It's the first Telltale game I have played, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. As time goes on I'm finding I like the Borderlands setting more and more. I have to give Gearbox credit in doing the almost impossible, making a first person shooter I like playing.
