Of course yesterday talking about Black Forest made me hungry.

Dammit! It's too hot for me! I shouldn't feel hunger in this temperatures!

Okay I need a little help here.

My endless war with the red ants in yard has resulted in an expected turn. I now have three nest in the yard and they are growing at a staggering rate. Does anyone have a clue as how to blunt their growth or destroy them all together? I've tried chemical warfare but they re-open their nest six feet in a different direction.

The Lord of All Insects has been mumb with advise. Can anyone help?

Well, they're called fire ants, right? Oblige them.

Disclaimer: I am not a pest control/removal expert. I am a mere pest.

Bt these fires sound truly terrifying. Are you and mrs bt going to be okay?

Fires, blizzards, and tornadoes are some of the local hazards. We try to be prepared and take appropriate steps to mitigate the hazards. We are not wealthy enough to live in the well wooded areas near town so fire is not a major risk for us like folks living in the mountain foothills and canyons or Black Forest.

Last year the lady on our pool team with math doctorate lost her home of 20 plus years in the Waldo Canyon fire, and another friend was under mandatory evacuation. This year an engineer friend of mine who just had a baby got evacuated, but I think their home is OK. Our home is just south of Colorado Springs and east of FT Carson (I don't like living in city limits.) so our flood and fire risk is very low. Hail and wind can be an issue, but for the most part this is a pretty safe blue collar neighborhood.

I appreciate your concern though.

I'm told a sugar and boric acid mix can be effective, but I imagine Moorluck could address this with more authority.

Well, that's a shame.

Er, only in the sense that it doesn't reinforce my biases about Central Park.

Actually, the last time I had to deal with the little pests I DID use fire. Carefully :)

After several tries of using the 'correct stuff' failed, I poured just a little gas from the lawnmower supply onto the mounds. Enough to cover but not drench. Then I waited a few days, to mitigate explosiveness concerns.
Then lit them, with a water hose on standby. The resulting fire was satisfactory yet small. It DID leave scorched-earth marks in my yard, but the grass grows so rapidly here that it came back soon enough. And I haven't seen the ants return in a year.Although, I DID think I saw a small mound when I ran out the door this morning, time to go home and check on that,...

DISCLAIMER! This wizard in NO way condones the use of fire in a neighborhood setting outside of a grill.

Except when his frayed patience is frazzled by yard pests,... ;P

Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that Red Right Hand is so distinctive looking and Errol never puts it away he might have gone the entire fight without recognizing you, or at least until Elegy resumed human form.

Yes, but it was so much more epic when he knew exactly who was beating the snot out of him.
