Chaperoning school field trip to a pool...waiting for the trip leader to pay while restless kids run wild... Not sure what little sanity I have will last the afternoon....
I remember doing that as the trip leader. What went through my head the whole time at the pool: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. Good, they're all here, and alive. One, two, three, four... and so on for four hours...

Yep, that sounds about right. There were four classes on the trip and 22 just in the kidlet's class. And only two of us out of the whole group of teachers and chaperones who actually wore swim gear and were prepared to get in the pool....yeah, that went about as well as you'd expect. Thankfully only one injury all afternoon and she was more upset than injured. So at least everyone survived. :)

Today has been a s%$~ty day, in the way that a lot of stupid little things keep adding up, until you just want it to stop.
Those days are the worst. Whatever finally sends you over the edge is usually nothing on a normal day, but you absolutely lose it as the final straw drives you batty.

Buck up little badger! Try to remember we live at the pinnacle of human achievement (so far) in one of the richest and most peaceful societies ever conceived. The small stuff is inconsequential in the long run

Ok, I wish I could be that Zen, but I truly do feel for you and hope the irritations lessen. :)

Giant GLOMP!, to you and Puffin.
And aeglos, that sounds brilliant. I loved the Isle of Man TT-racing this year as they used "King of the Mountain" as the theme.

Ah, the joys of playing old Playstation games like Tekken 3 once more...
I'm glad I never let my dad get rid of any old consoles or games that I have.
I never bothered to upgrade to a PS3 'cause by the time I could afford one they were no longer backwards compatible. So now I still just play my (original) PS2. My 5 year old doesn't seem to mind old skool Transformers or Tony Hawk or Sonic and my seven year old likes her Sing Star. :)

Yeah, the lack of backwards compatibility tends to be a killer for me as well. That, and I can't think of any newer PS games I really want to try. Maybe the next Final Fantasy because why not? And I've never been an Xbox fan - all it seems to have is shooters, sports, racing, and GTA, none of which are high on my want list.
An interesting new RPG might get me interested in PS4 enough to look into it - later, when my funds are better - but for now I'm pretty much exclusively a Nintendo handhelds gamer with what little console gaming I do.

I wanted it mainly for Tekken 6 and Resident Evil 5. Then Resident Evil 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

I've always been an Xbox fan mostly because I loved the Halo franchise. Mass Effect was a fantastic trilogy as well. However, given the current stance on used games, I am not as excited about the XBOX One as past consoles. We buy very few games first hand. I think the PS4 is looking better this generation from the little I've seen from both.

I might buy a PS4, or then I'll just stick to PC games and my old consoles.
Wait a minute! Does that mean that I'll end up as a retro gamer in the next 5-10 years?
What's considered "retro" these days? I was barely getting on the SNES in the later nineties, dabbled a little in N64 and PS1 in early 2000s, and have touched on the PS2 a tiny bit since...
Granted SNES and GB/GBA/DS games are pretty much all I play these days, plus PC Steam games.

In the mean time, busy days here at work. Passing off my projects to other people. Trying to finish up some things before my last day next Friday. We've got a big meeting tomorrow. Next week my Code will be moving back to our renovated desk area (yes, just a few days before I leave). And I've been trolling the newly refurbished area for boxes to bring home for my other move....
