So if we become short of wood, we shall know who to blame.

Boo! Boo! Give us our logs!

EDIT; 'Log' may be embellishing the truth somewhat...

I'm playing through the Final Fantasy 7 remake, I just got my first summoning materia (Ifrit).

It's a pretty good game so far, certainly gets you in your nostalgia sack.

Oh, you mean "Kingdom Hearts without the Disney?"
Because its basically the same game, engine-wise.

I don't like it. I liked FF7 the game. Not just the story; I liked the actual JRPG.

Its nice to see Avalanche and other minor NPCs get more play, and a more detailed Midgar, but the game itself? Nah. Kingdom Hearts with a buster sword for a keyblade is not my jam.

In the next installment of, "Tacticslion is a good parent, don't @me." we are playing through the original FF7, and we just got out of Midgar! That's where we're calling it for the night.

The trauma isn't going to happen soon.

... or maybe it will. We shall see how quickly we burn through the rest of this.

Hate that game so much.

I am getting mixed signals.

What?

I will say I far prefer FF6, and long held disdain for FF7 because it simply wasn't as good (nor was as ensemble) as FF6, but a lot of people love it and it was, simply, not actually a bad game (for game play).

I have a lot of issues with the story, but it's better than some FFs, and as I've aged I've come to compare it favorably in some regards (though not all) to FF4.

(Secretly, I think I actually like FF8, but I give myself whiplash when determining if I do or not - sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's terrible, so I'unno. Over-all I think I like it better than the grime of FF7, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , you know?)

All I know is if you change the visuals and story, FF7 remake is verbatim Kingdom Hearts, which was pretty drastically different from the original. Its less a remake and more a reboot.

Final Fantasy 7 was the only one I played, I was more of a Phantasy Star fan to be honest.

Also that one game for the NES that you recreated old Chinese wars and recruited various historical figures and generals to your party/army.

To be honest, Cloud is kind of a huge a#+#%+~.

A guy walks into a bar and is surprised to see his family doctor there, so he walks over to join him. "What a coincidence!" the guy says. "I was just saying earlier today that I really needed a doctor's appointment." The doctor pulls up his calendar on his phone and says, "Well, how about 10 tomorrow?" "No," the guy replies. "I don't need that many."

My favorite games are open world RPGs or the like, Fallout and Skyrim where you can go back and forth and customize your character are ideal.

Any game that lets me run around and do my own thing is the beezneez.

I don't like games that are punitively hard like Dark Souls.

I f@!+ing hate platformers.

I like basketball, but all other sports games are out.

I don't mind strictly first person shooters for awhile but eventually it starts to make me feel claustrophobic.

Yes! Also I believe they had a second one, unless I'm remembering it wrong.

Looks like there was a sequel, but it was never released in the US. Maybe you're thinking of some other game that was similar.

My boss is now administering mandatory weekly rapid tests to all the faculty, so yesterday was my third test.
Happily, I'm getting kind of inured to it now, so for the first time yesterday, I did NOT immediately develop psychosomatic covid symptoms out of anxiety after taking the test.

I thought I had an infected tooth because it was throbbing like crazy, but there was no sign of infection - no heat or swelling, etc.

I figured out it's a slightly high tooth. It gets smooshed when I clench my jaw or grind my teeth. I must be doing that a lot lately. For some reason. No idea why. Everything is fine. We're all fine here. How are you?

Oh, pandemic, civil unrest, massive stupidity by the previous homeowners causing horrific cost overruns on my construction project, unseasonable 75˚F temperatures in January...

...everything's fine here, too!

How are you with plumbing? Are you smart enough to know that you can't just connect copper and cast iron pipes directly together? Because if you are, you're smarter than the previous guy to work on our bathroom, apparently...

Well, you can connect those two dissimilar metals together, but I wouldn't recommend making that connection too difficult to access later.

Something something mixing gold-plated and tin connectors for memory modules and motherboard connectors.

I don't know why it is, but I feel significantly more attached to the story of a game if I am allowed to customize my character. It shouldn't matter so much, but for some reason it does.

I am reminded of a guy I used to game with. He had diabetes. Had it for years. Testing sugar levels and injecting insulin every day. And always complaining that his doctor wouldn't stop harping on him for his high glucose levels. And yet, every other week (the game met twice a month), I would see him come to game and eat his "supper". Which consisted of a gallon, yes an actual gallon, of soda, and 6 to 7 assorted King-Size candy bars.

I don't know. I haven't seen him in probably 7 or 8 years. Maybe he's changed. Or already lost a foot. Don't know. Haven't even thought about him for a long time until your post made him pop into my head.
