I really wish my knee didn't decide to do the bulk of its hurting at night. I'd love a good night's sleep.

Bastards.

Friday bomb dropping is a regular occurence here as well.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday! The sun is shining! The birds are singing! The boy was moderately happy!

Scarab Sages

Of course, there was that little episode at 3:15 this morning, when the boy woke up and started screaming for us. We got him calmed down and back asleep eventually, but it does disrupt my beauty sleep.

Scarab Sages

And I REALLY need my beauty sleep.

Scarab Sages

But I was able to rack my mead over to a new carboy yesterday. Huzzah! And at it's current specific gravity, it'll end up about 14% ABV - not too shabby. In another few weeks I'll add the raspberries.

Monday, Monday
So good to me
Monday morning
It was all I hoped it would be
Oh, Monday morning
Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still
Be here with me

Monday, Monday
Can't trust that day
Monday, Monday
Sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh, Monday morning you gave me no warning
Of what was to be
Oh, Monday, Monday
How could you leave and not take me

Every other day
Every other day
Every other day of the week is fine (fine), yeah
But whenever Monday comes
But whenever Monday comes
You can find me crying all of the time

Monday, Monday
So good to me
Monday morning
It was all I hoped it would be
But, Monday morning
Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still
Be here with me

Monday, Monday
Can't trust that day
Monday, Monday
It just turns out that way
Oh, Monday, Monday
Won't go away
Monday, Monday
It's here to stay
Oh, Monday, Monday

My wife got the boy this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed mini play mat - the kind made of that foamy material shaped as interlocking squares. Was fiddling around with the pieces yesterday and got inspired for the beginnings of a new dungeon. I can't wait to draw it up, then fill it in.

Scarab Sages

She also got him one of those balloons with the rubber band attached, so you can hold the rubber band and boucne the balloon off your hand...

....The kid loved it. He was running around the house, screaming and laughing and bouncing that thing around like crazy.

Scarab Sages

Did I also mention the life-sized, stuffed toy beagle my mom-in-law got him? Damn thing is uber-creepy. You walk into the room and it's just sitting there....

watching....

waiting.....

Scarab Sages

Anyway, that's me done for now. Later folks! Have a good one.

First April Fools' point of the day goes to....

My phone alarm. For not ringing and causing me to only wake up 15 minutes prior to my normal leave time. Just had time to say hi to Scint and throw my clothes on before I had to leave.

Granted it wouldn't have happened if I'd remembered to turn it back on after turning it off for not having to work Saturday, but let's not point fingers here.

Via Skype, not in person. Pretty much just a "good morning, overslept so in a hurry, cya in a bit" chat conversation.

Uuuugh. Except for driving to and from work and about 6 hours of sleep a night, I worked from Thursday morning through to Saturday at 4 pm.

Bastards.

Yuck. Sorry to hear that Jess.

The first of April's 26 monsters is up! I hope you like the aerolion.

That's surprisingly cute and amusing. Reminds me of the tibbit warlock PC from my old Savage Tide campaign.

Morning. (In the middle of the day)

Not that it is 15 here. Because it is 14. My body says so. Summer Time is a lie.

My list of "threads I automatically hide as soon as I see them" unfortunately appears to be growing. -_-

I just can't do evil spiders, evil clowns, or evil evil spider-clowns every day. :)

Heh, nah you're good.

Final Superstar vote placed. Not one of the guys I was rooting for from round 1 go, but clearly by the end the best of the batch IMO come the final call.

As per usual though I imagine all four of these finalists will find themselves looking at new opportunities in the business. And of course there's always next year.

Yay, Simnel cake all around. Hello everyone, hope you have got some sleep Treppa.

Today I definitely should go to sleep earlier.

Reading Super Star finalists.

Rakshasa... Plus for that entry.

we just had leftovers from yesterday

we made beef Rouladen (beef seasoned with mustard and rolled with pickles and onions, slow cooked over 70minutes in red wine, root vegetables and broth) with dumblings in a napkin and CH's brussels sprouts+veggies with maple syrup

the meat was a bit chewy, maybe we should have cooked it longer,

the dumblings where a bit dense because I had spilled half of the beaten egg white which would have made them fluffy

the veggies where hard but the sprouts ok, the syrup did not came through much (help, CH)
today I roasted the leftover sprouts+veggies and deglazed them with more syrup, now they where great, the combination is really good, thank you Max

Roasting vegetables always takes longer than I think it will, and if they are under-cooked, they do not pick up all the other flavors. Let them start to brown a bit, and then you know they are ready.

Also, did you remember to toss them in a little butter or oil before you started cooking?

Awesome. Later this month, when I'm working in the city, we'll get together for drinks. I will want to check in with your job search :)

we did put in a little butter, maybe not enough and it did not reach everything, we will try again
