Bless your heart.

See, I know you and I know what you look like.

I'm trying to picture you saying "Bless your heart".

Yep, still having a hard time with that.

;-)

:) I have a nice side; I just don't let everyone know. :)

sorry to hear that

you can get suspended from school for some days in america?
for not behaving? um, ain't that extremly contra-productive?

There is a whole series of warnings and procedures to be followed first, but yes, a child can be suspended from school here. (He talked back, yelled threateningly at the teachers and threw a massive tantrum in which he flailed and kicked with no regard for who or what was around him. Par for the course, this is not the first time. Normally he'd get a one day suspension for this, but they decided to be extra strict this time for some unknown reason.) On the day of one of these incidents it's necessary to get him out of the school, yes. After that, it's counterproductive and causes further disruption in routine which leads to further stress, and so on and so forth.
I hope it's not retaliation, but I'm not optimistic. :(
Is your glass "half empty" too?

I'm nothing if not bitter and pessimistic. ;)

Bored, waiting for hubby to finish some conversions.

For some reason it tickles me when Lilith or SM or pmg gets top and includes themselves in our games :)

How are you BT and Moff?

Thanks for asking, Mac. I was absent for a couple of months working a 90ish hour a week job. It was good for my finances, but I'm still sorting out a lot of ugly issues surrounding Diane's oldest daughter and her beautiful daughters who lived with us for the past two years. Diane is still fighting major neurological and health issues years after chemo. It breaks my heart, and I'm powerless to fix it. My daughter's family is doing great, and I'm so proud of them that I have no words. I'm struggling to sort through it all, but it will be what it will be.

How are you and Jenny doing? Well I hope!

Wow man. My family is small we're all pretty insync even though mom and dad split when I was 8.

But my stepmum, Dad remarried, her family has issues like this. She's an awesome lady but 2 of her brothers are just complete frickin morons in fact as we speak they are pillaging their mom's house because mom was put in a home (Alzheimer's), mom doesn't know what's what, and they started it without consulting any of the other siblings (6 other brothers and sisters). Stepmum is a high energy lady, but that kind of s@!% just smites her.

Anyway. I never take it for granted that someone in a coma or vegetative is "out of the house". The most moving film I've ever seen: Awakenings.

Good luck, dude.

As a matter of fact yes it is. Many places do "in-school" suspension where you get to sit in an empty classroom all day with various teachers rotating shifts. You get to "study" all day.

I did my first teacher's practicum in a junior high school that had a quiet room with plants, a skylight, books, and a very comfy relaxing decor and all kinds of diversions like books and puzzles... it was awesome. You could literally drag a screaming kid into the room and in 30 minutes he'd be totally normalized.

ED: Then they also had a suspension/study room.

Hang in there, Bitter Thorn. I'm glad you're back.

'Good' idea or 'Bad'?

Spoiler:
well, we didn't bring my grandmother to my grandfather's funeral because she had fairly advanced alzheimer's, didn't know what was even going on, and she would've just probably been really upset.

She didn't know who I was anyway. She knew she had a grandson, but didn't know he was in his thirties. She thought I should've been about three.

So these in-laws seem really flaky to me. I believe I'd ultimately end up having to shout at them a lot, but I understand not wanting to make trouble for your wife and all. But that's just nuts. The old woman has no clue what's going on, and if she is indeed sensate in any capacity, a trip to a funeral amounts to nothing but torture. I really am vexed people like this. I can't stand when stupid has control, because nothing but absolute horror follows in stupid's wake.

So....BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD.

Welcome to the System. Creating bricks for the Wall since 1952.

I always thought the classic WTF policy was to give out a day or two suspension for skipping school.

"Wait! Let me get this straight. My 'punishment' for skipping school which I hate is to get two days off from school which I hate? Awesome!!"

I got detention for loitering once. My punishment for hanging around the school after class by myself was... hanging around the school after class by myself.

Spoiler:
(My POV is that they should have let this poor soul go 8 years ago, so I'm shaded. My heart breaks every time I think of her in her present state. Moreso, when I remember her prior state.)

Unfortunately, no. She sleeps most of the day and usually stares into space when she's awake. Sometimes she will focus on things for a few minutes. She wasn't agitated while, in the other room, paramedics worked on my father-in-law. She didn't respond in anyway when the family gave her the news, save for holding my sis-in-law's hand. but it may have been due to the crowd of us there. Yet, she cried that night. It may or not have been related to his passing. The family looks for hope in these things, but after 8 years...

We have no way of knowing how the funeral will affect her. We do know how her presence it will affect certain longtime family friends. And we know how she was when she was healthy.

There are both pros and cons, but my brother-in-law is her guardian so his decision is final and we have to deal with it. We're suggesting handling it in a dignified manner, which is usually a foreign concept to him. He's often at odds with people.

Sorry that there are so many buttheads in the world. We have a couple in my own family. My 89 yo mother has been really clear as to how things are supposed to go when her time comes. Still, we expect my oldest brother's wife to be a butthead.

I've warned my Mom that the mother-in-law may be there for the funeral. (My sister is expected to bring her.) I've also told her if they choose not to come that my wife and I are OK with it. Might be 'interesting'. 89 year olds don't mince words. Most of the time it's pretty funny. This wouldn't be.

Ugh. 2 days and it will be over.

Thanks for the input.

I think I'd be out to actively promote bad blood/introducing a schism betwixt "them" and "us" given this description. I don't know how you deal or cope with situations, but I kinda have a mean streak along with a definite lack of need of anybody, good or bad, one way or another, and so I don't sit for too much bullcrap without telling people "if the world was neck deep in pee, I wouldn't let you up in my tree."

You can pick your friends, you can't pick your kin, but you can sure as hell pick your ass up and get out of their jacked up scene. They sound like nothing but a pain in the ass anyway. Would your wife be all that melancholy if she never had that much to do with them ever again? That's the only thing I'd be worried about, but hopefully she'd come around to seeing reason(?)

I could give you disgustingly long list of idiocy/stuff over the last 8 years, but yes my wife has increased her distance to them as a result. She also stands up against their stupidity/attempts at dominance better. I point blank told one of my brothers-in-law that we keep heading towards a permanent schism as a result of their long history of this crap. Sad, but oh well. Their choice.

It can't/won't happen as long as my mother-in-law is alive and needs my wife to stick up for her. They know that, the turds. As did my father-in-law.

The only thing you should apologize for is not supplying me with their address and busfare.

I try to never buy shoes that I can't take to a cobbler and get repaired several times and wear comfortably for many years. My favorite pair of shoes is on its last legs...sniff. Cobbler said last time that there were no more repairs to be made to shoes that were so worn out. Sniff.

Good. Don't even tell them that; just do it and let them contemplate the whyfores, whereto's, and throw darts at your picture for dicking them and taking their sister away from her family blood is thicker than water bla bla bla. You've got enough right here, you don't need more.

Go over the charges and they'll suck you into the guilt trip of "well, you allowed it for so long that we thought it was allright, so really it's all your fault." They'll eat your soul that way.

The way I see it, when you know what you're doing, and it's the right thing, and a bunch of cretins are second guessing you--you do not sit around quibbling and explaining. In these cases, explaining, allowing them to get you into a back and forth, is just like saying "I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing".

Those games work less and less on my wife as they play 'em. Except that those dbags don't contemplate/reflect on their actions. Too arrogant. Someone else is always to blame. Got it from their father.

We'll have a whole new series of crap after the funeral, when they scramble to determine how to fund my mother-in-law's care. The insurance should hold them but they'll blow thru that like the lottery.
