Dumb as it was (even at the time), irritatingly preachy and unconvincing as it was (even at that age), and over-the-top corny as it was (even at that era), I watched Captain Planet way back when. Not religiously, but enough.
And as exceptionally stupid as it is, possibly for nostalgia only, and possibly just because there's a draft right where I'm sitting, I got chills of "coooooo~!" watching this, despite (or maybe "because of"?) it having every one of the aforementioned traits.
I dunno, guys. Am I losing my discernment? Cynicism? Am I just waxing nostalgic? Or was that fan-made trailer actually... fun? Cool? Some combination? Weeeeiiiiirrrrrd.
However, we were speaking of Game Theory earlier, and, speaking of Captain Planet and MatPat...

Tomorrow, my daughter and I travel to Tennessee to see my sister's high school gradutation. Then on Monday, I drive down to Atlanta to make a visit to my home office. Then, on Thursday, I fly to Seattle for PaizoCon.
Sounds like you're driving right through my neck of the woods. Have fun!

He's the guy with the fake Cockney accent in the Ocean's Eleven movies, for instance.
Or the hi-fi enthusiast in Boogie Nights.
Or Hotel Rwanda, for something a bit more high-brow.

My location is pretty impractical if you want to go to big cities. Intentionally so, on my part. =)

I'd say Boogie Nights is a pretty high-brow, but a good point. (And, of course, Hotel Rwanda has the advantage over Boogie Nights in that I couldn't also have described his part as "the black guy.")

We'll see how long you last in that humidity, I give you 5 minutes :-)
Complete side note to prove I'm alive: I've never understood the "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" phrase.
I've been biking in 106-degree weather in Sacramento, or on a houseboat in the 115-degree weather near Las Vegas in the summer. I've been walking in 90-degree, 90% humidity weather in Houston. I've been hiking in 85-degree, 95% humidity in Australia.
Give me the cooler temps and the humidity every time.
You just have to accept that:
(1) You're going to be soaking wet. All. The. Friggin'. Time.
(2) You're going to need 2-3 showers a day, because every time you walk for more than 1/4 mile, you're going to be soaked.
(3) You're going to need to drink a couple of gallons of water. A day.
I dunno, maybe it's my troll heritage. But being constantly soaking wet and 15-20 degrees cooler is way easier for me than the 105-110 dry heat of the desert valleys...

I would rather be in dry heat anyday, I spent 4 years in Ga. and North Carolina and it was absolute misery in the summer.

Alright so I had this big long post about my fishing adventures over the last week and lost the post so here is the short version.
I went and caught some whiting and pompano on Saturday and caught three sharks on Tuesday. Two foot bonnethead (looks like a hammerhead), a true hammerhead, and a blacktip. All in all pretty damn cool hoping to catch some more on Sunday. Had some o the shark today smoked pretty good.

Was using an ultralight rod and feel set on the bonnethead for a moment there didn't think I was going to get him in. Funny thing is the other two sharks were on a larger rod and we're both smaller.
@FHDM
Oddly enough the whiting was fried I think just flour, salt, and pepper. Fried in peanut oil.

As far as I can tell there are three types of "hammerhead" sharks. All three are protected and have to be released, but it's still cool to see one.

Even better all this was from shore I didn't even have to get my feet wet for the sharks.
