Rawr, I can see using that as something that came out of Numeria!

Quite so, MagusJanus. :)

Tin Foil Yamakah, I think an electrified werewolf works pretty well on a night with a full moon.

Aeglos- I am adjusting slowly but steadily to english life. It takes time. But no tea for me thank you.
Celestial Healer- It would have been much better if my husband was an Indian British citizen, that way we could tell the neighbours we were just be "The Just Custodians" of their properties.

If it was Kajehase he could just say that he's Dane conqueror... Those Saxons can't discern between Scandinavians anyway.

Good morning!

We're off to take my daughter to the airport (with a quick stop at Chik Fil A on the way).

Have a good Saturday. :)

Cracker Barrel with the parents and sister in ~2 hours, then off to drive around apartment-shopping.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Saturday?!? Maybe. Jury's still out. It's gonna be a busy one, though, that's for damn sure.

Got a call from a former Philly co-worker yesterday. He also serves as a reservist and is going out on a year long deployment at the end of the month. His wife, in the meantime, has some work to do here in the Houston area (Katy, actually) for the next three weeks and needs a place to stay. So we offered up our guest room.

They are arriving (according to my friend) a around noon today.

Scarab Sages

So, lots to do, and I'm burning daylight.

I hope today is good and your daughter has a safe trip and little problem at the airports! Especially little problem at the airports.

I hope today is very happy and not full of being busy.

I hope his deployment is incredibly boring, he sees very little action, and he returns safe. And I hope she has regular contact with him.

Sabine's mum had an epilebtic sizure today and is now in the hospital for surveilance :-/

she has problems with that since her youth but had no actual sizure for years now

So the latter half of that was a complete waste of time. The offices of both apartments I went to look at are only open during Standard Business Hours. (Mon-Fri, 8-4.30 for one of them, 9-4.30 for the other.) Guess what hours I work! GRRRRRRRRRR.

I have never understood places like that, general service-type places, having Standard Business Hours schedules. It's like they don't expect most of their customers/tenants to be 8-5 workers.

I'm sorry. I hope she recovers, never has another seizure, and lives a long life full of good health.

Please extend my best wishes to Sabine.

I'm sorry it was a waste of time. And it does seem like they prefer people to take precious time off from work and such to go apartment hunting.

If it's a complex or apartment building, do they have leasing agents on Saturdays?

don't know, but she is under medical control, it is possible that she did not drink enough on the very hot last few days we had,

but she is living with epilepsy more than 40 years now

I hope Sabine's mom recovers quickly from the seizure and she has no more of them.

Rachel and four other students are in Philadelphia waiting for their flight to Frankfurt, with no chaperone. Evidently, US Airways (or their computers) decided that the chaperone wasn't actually on the flight. Oops.

When I got to the first one there was a sign on the door saying no one was there, call this number. Called them, said they're closed, come back on a weekday between 8-4.30.

When I saw the sign saying 9-4.30 weekdays, closed Sat and Sun I didn't even bother getting out of the car.

Speaking with Scint this afternoon, the places she visited looking at apartments where she'll be moving soon have similar hours posted, but they were there today due to her calling ahead earlier this week. So it's looking like that's what I'll have to do - call them on Monday, arrange evening times to come visit. I'd really like to make a decision where I'm moving by next weekend, so I have time to go buy furniture, set up internet and electricity, etc. etc. etc. before the end of the month, and can set a July 1st move-in date.

I had to deal with that all this past week with Government offices of various sorts only having similar hours - among other things, getting a second emissions test then getting my tags and titles for buying my car from my dad. I went on my lunch breaks so it wasn't totally on company time, but I took a great deal of extra hours longer between driving distance and an incident of locking my keys in my car.

My supervisor's been extremely understanding, but I'm not interested in pushing that generosity any further for at least a month if not longer.

I am glad your boss is that understanding, and I hope your efforts to get an evening meeting work out.

If they don't, you might be able to get a weekend meeting during the day. For some, that is more amenable.

Yeah, I'd really like to be able to do so before then, and leave the weekend to actually making the decision and arranging a time to sign the paperwork with whomever, but beggars can't be choosers and all.

Here's hoping you don't need the weekend for it. As it stands, it is a major bite that they have such hours.

Aside from the eternity on 2-lane rural highways? Fine. Liked the town well enough, put a deposit down on a place I'll be able to move into in early July.
