Okay, I know this is stupid, but I'm going to ask anyway.

The "Just the Underwater Bits" Ruins of Azlant campaign I've been running for the kids and WW is, in essence, a Saturday morning cartoon version of a campaign. Sure, there are dangerous monsters to fight, but the rules are a little bent (because kids playing in an aquatic realm), and because WW is playing a male Dwarf-Selkie-elephant seal. (In the Selkie's land form, instead of an attractive human female, it's a male dwarf. In its aquatic form, instead of a regular seal, an elephant seal, which is kind of like a tuskless walrus. And also has a thick Scottish accent, not Irish.)

We're about to get to a part of the campaign where they have to go to a very small island to defeat some spirit nagas in a tomb.
WW's character: Selkie. Just reverts to land form. No problem.
Val's character: Half-elf, has spent most of his life on land. No problem.
Hermione's character: aquatic elf, which SHOULDN'T be a problem, because according to the book they're amphibious, but she decided she wanted to have a mermaid tail instead of legs with webbed toes.
But she has an animal companion, Fluffy, who is a giant Dire Lobster, and she has a special saddle for riding Fluffy sidesaddle and has put a lot of skill ranks into combat riding and animal handling. (Lobsters IRL have an AMAZING expeditious retreat.)

Lobsters IRL can walk on land for brief periods and can breathe on land as long as their gills are kept moist and cool.

Is it too much to say that Hermione's character just rides Fluffy on land at half-movement? Or would it be better to just give her temporary flight? I'm worried about the nagas killing Fluffy.

So Hermione is playing alt-warrior-Ariel, then?

(My wife literally found this picture last night, so I had to share.)

Also, Teensy Valeros and WW, why not?

(Probably doesn't look like them at all, but I figured while here, I'll go looking...)

Yeah, that kind of nails it.

In August, when all the pool stuff is half-off in the stores here, I got Hermione a giant ride-on inflatable lobster at the grocery store. And she already had her swimmable mermaid tail that Eve got her a few years ago. So we went out to the lake and she took character photos.

They looked REMARKABLY similar to that. Except her hair is sort of a honey-light-brown.

Mrs Sunrise came to visit me today, and we walked up to the roof of the new hospital building, which is 17 floors. Well there is no 13th floor (don't think I've ever actually seen that before IRL), so it's actually 16 floors. And ground level is already floor 1, so technically we only climbed 15 flights.

But for a guy with pseudomonis and two strains of MRSA in the lungs, I'd say 15 flights is pretty dam good. :)

Check with your local game store. They might have them. Having said that, the standard size is 3 cards by 3 cards.

For the “exceptionally bad” idea of all of this, you could let Hermione’s character have a 1k-value magic item. What item is this, you ask? An item of continuous create water. Not “at will” - continuous. It only does one form, though: the raining version.

See, it always “appears” from 25 feet above her head (CL1, close range), creates 2 gallons per round, spread across a “six gallon large” area (“three times as large” [as can actually contain it] according to 3.5 rules; CL1). According to d20pfsrd, 8 gallons is a cubic foot. You create 1/4 of that, spread across three times the (relative) area, so a 3/4 ft. cube (more or less).

This song optional, but recommended.

Alternatively, the drench can’t rip (same thing, but targets a particular creature, and can’t be cheesed by WW to create infinite water or power or whatever, because the can trip targets a specific creature instead of making water in an area; applies 1/round; you can find it on d20pfsrd).
(Instead if causing a downpour, this just makes the target soaked. Hence not being able to be used for mechanical energy.)

If you’re feeling generous, a prestidigitation effect to clean up after the deluge so it’s not always obvious that someone in a mild rainstorm has walked by an area. That’s strictly unnecessary, though.

Doesn’t function underwater, and is a minor cursed item so it binds to her and is really tough to get rid of. Anyone trying to harness it is subject to a jolt cantrip.

If you want, anyone trying to harness that is subject to an acid-splash cantrip. Anyone trying to harness that is afflicted as if by a robe of powerlessness (able to be shed only by a spell you can’t cast anymore), and the next step is a baleful polymorph. Note, these effects only apply to those attempting to harness this ability for any reason other than getting wet. These other effects target those who attempt to use it directly (such as harnessing the water for mechanical energy), and indirectly (such as trying to get someone else to harness the water for mechanical energy - still goes to the person trying to make it happen, not the person they’re trying to convince).

The object was made out of a bound water elemental, and it only longs to keep its bearer wet. Make it sentient if you want (doesn’t care about alignment, only wetness). (This is also why the object targets those who would “abuse” its gift of wetness.)

Give it a daily duration to make it less expensive! Pretty much any limit at all (such as an hour or two per day) drops the cost to 500g, and specific limits can drop it further.

Optional bonus, have it be named “Padi” with optional Irish accent.

We lament the lack of face-paint, but as the Artist doesn't seem to color the skin at all, we figure it was an issue with getting the lighting right - adding facepaint might make the picture wash out and go flat, instead of having the natural curved look of the skin based on current 'shines' added to the paper background.)

Belle and her terrifying Beast

Rapunzel - Rogue in the Trees

Uh. I fixed it! (Weird autocorrect.)

The cantrip can be a function of the elemental's ability of the same name.

If you want to make it truly useless for any other purpose, apply a young simple template to the water elemental. This means that even if they free the elemental, it's not going to do them much good.

This nets you the following:

If the opponent or the elemental is touching the ground, the elemental takes a –4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. These modifiers apply to bull rush and overrun maneuvers, whether the elemental is initiating or resisting these kinds of attacks.

That, of course, makes its "intelligence" (if an intelligent item), the same as its creature. This is a lovely thing, because that Int score applies its penalty to the item's Ego.

This nets you with the following item:

DESCRIPTION

Watery Blessing is an old necklace or whatever dating back to the times of ancient Azlanti; creatures who bear the necklace are constantly soaked, as if by the drench cantrip for up to two hours each day; after two hours, the effect no longer functions for the day.

Originally crafted by elves corrupted by the slime of Abolethic masters by binding a tiny water elemental into the ring or whatever this item was built to ensure the servitors stay moist, allowing them to wander the surface for slightly longer missions sent by their masters without taking damage. It was mostly abandoned when the elves were easily captured due to leaving a watery trail everywhere they went.

Though no longer made, they are not terribly valuable - they were quite common at one time, and heavily over-produced. Many still see use by aquatic creatures seeking to walk on the land, but most find the minor (and childish) emotions of the device slightly annoying, even if it is too weak to afflict most creatures.

The items are also mildly cursed - difficult to get rid of once they are attached, and they keep reappearing (sometimes dislodging other jewelry, if they are incompatible), even if thrown away. A remove curse spell almost always automatically removes the curse, allowing the item to be shed normally.

The effect only works out of water - no sense drenching a creature while within it, after all! - and isn't particularly useful for anything else.

CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

Feats Craft Wondrous Item or Forge Ring, or whatever, drench; Cost 250 gp.

... or some such. That -4 to all ego checks means it's super unlikely to ever find a problem, and, one supposes, if there was a fire, you could always throw yourself onto it to put it out!

That was fun - even if it's not used, it was nice to make a thing. Here's hoping you all enjoy!
