Nutella is marketed as a spread for toast and waffles, when really any self-respecting adult eats it the way nature intended: licking it from the back of a spoon while hiding in the pantry.

Possibly while nekkid.

(Except for me. I don't like it. Hazelnut, blergh.)

How is it that unicorns are fake while giraffes are real? What's more believable: a horse with a horn, or a leopard-moose-camel with a 6' neck?

"For the money" should be an acceptable answer to the question "Why do you want this job?".

How's the training process going? I hope you aren't driven up the wall?

Seriously. Especially when its a part time job.

You know Their is good statistical evidence that the face to face interview is the least effective way to determine if an employee will work out or not.

I do not lick it from the back of the spoon. And I don’t hide in the pantry. I walk in there openly.

Pretty good no problems so far.

MMM Nutella and banana crepes. Nutella and banana in general.

Yeah I've been rather busy but the floor plan is now out! Also recruiting for a PBP is work!

Or at least it is for me since I have to inspect their character sheets and point out everything non rules compliant since I'm anal that way.

I hate training people. I've had to train so many it's ridiculous. Especially since most of them don't listen anyways.

Maybe your just a bad teacher?

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Maybe, but when they pull out their phone while I'm in the middle of showing them how to do the job, I'm pretty sure that's not my fault.

The Exchange

Maybe you could give them the benefit of the doubt they're trying to take pics on what you're showing them?

Sometimes I'll even ask for screenshots. Especially in multi step things.

Pictures of the work? No. I've had exactly 1 trainee do that, and it was of how the breakfast should look once set up. Besides, pictures wouldn't really help with most of the job.

Oh, there was one who took lots of pictures during the shift. But not of the job. She was taking selfies (duckface and all) and posting them on her InstaWhatever. She kept trying to get me to follow her, too, and couldn't believe that I don't use any social media. (She was in her 50s, by the way.)

I just had her do it and told her what to do while she was doing it.

The Exchange

Oh I'd take a photo on how breakfast utensils were laid. I'm horrible at that kind of thing, I'll never remember. If there isn't a hexa decimal order I can never remember where things are supposed to be placed. Hell I take pictures of the old files, so I know how to number the new files.

I believe in hands on teaching. learn as you go. I'll just stand over you and tell you to do things until you don't need me to. Tomorrow I'll just let her go and answer questions as eh does things.

Huh that's fun. I was just mimicking a word they used to use on a old cartoon series. Now that I know it has an actual meaning that's even better.

Had a fantastic birthday weekend, a lot of time spent with family and friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in years. And a whole lot of gaming squeezed in as well, a couple new games going to be added to our gaming rotation, methinks. :D

So.

Was out sick on Monday. Auditors showed up while I was gone. They finished their review yesterday. The review wasnt good. Although they said it was mostly minor stuff, in the aggregate it could be problematic(and my boss' paranoid views didn't help there). So I stayed until well past closing working on the problem. Resolved some issues. Didnt get home till almost 10. Have more work today, but not nearly as much since I did so much the night before. Naturally, the sky was red this morning(sailors take warning) and is now turning silver. I don't think it would be wise to take the bike. Did I mention I have a training and offsite visit today? And the second job? Yeah, today is going to be rough...

He won't last.

you..buy sets of...brooms?

I just buy a new one every new years day, in accordance with tradition.

Corn whisk only. Wooden handle if possible.

Perhaps by "broom set" he means a broom with dustpan, and possibly a smaller broom for nooks and crannies? Or maybe he means that he buys multiple brooms to be spread throughout the house (i.e. one in the kitchen, one in the garage, one for the porch/patio, etc)?

Or it's some kind of rich-person west coast thing.

It's a, "I buy my stuff at Costco" thing. But it was 2 brooms and a dustpan, all plastic and bundled together, and concrete proof that you should NEVER buy plastic brooms.

I'm taking up Freehold's tradition. A new broom at New Year's is easy to remember, and it's gotta be wood.

Having been on hiring committees for 20+ years now, it is, as long as you've got a good response to, "OK. Well, then, how long do you plan on sticking around?"

So, Shiro and GothBard have taken to going to LOTS of concerts, ranging from Bob Seger to Jethro Tull to Sabaton. I was going along, but I finally declared that I wouldn't do weekday concerts any more (except for Sabaton, 'cause they are awesome).

Last night was the first test of that, with Shiro and GothBard going to see Imagine Dragons at the Concord Pavilion.

Logistics at the place are so bad that some people waited over an hour in traffic to try to get in and were told there was no parking left so they had to leave, and it took Shiro and GothBard over an hour to get out of the parking lot.

So concert --> parking lot jam --> Concord to Fremont --> Fremont to Albany.

GothBard got in at 1:00 am, only because traffic everywhere except the Pavilion was excellent, and has to work today. Shiro got in around 12:15 am, and had a 6:30 am meeting with customers today.

I envy exactly neither of them. I went to bed at 9:00 pm and got almost 9 hours of sleep.

I feel good.

Duckface is Kylo Ren.

Nutella used to be amazing. Then they changed the formula and screwed it up.

The ONLY way to see a concert at Concord is to take the free shuttle from the BART.
You bypass ALL of the clog and you get to feel very smug.
