Of course, it doesn't help with spells like POWER WORD: STUN

I know all about hidden complex sigils. Hit me.

Got the new laptop set up last night. Downloaded the necessities - Firefox, Classic Shell, Google Drive, GIMP, Picture Gallery (don't much care for Win8's default image viewer), WinAmp, and Skype - then plugged in the must-have add-ons and plugins for Firefox (Lazarus, Greasemonkey, NoScript, etc.).
Just waiting now for Drive to finish syncing up; that's what I'm using to transfer everything over from old comp to new comp. After that will download Steam to get my games back, start reassembling my Favorites in Firefox (lost them completely sadly, the wonkiness on the old comp keeps resetting Firefox to fresh install, and I can't find the old favorites hiding anywhere), and so forth. And from there it'll just be - hopefully - adjusting small things I find as I go. Like manually assigning music files to use WinAmp rather than Media Player: Win8 won't give me the option to set WinAmp as default for them as a whole, because for some reason WinAmp doesn't show up on the "set default programs" list and there's no way to manually add programs to that list. So I'll have to set files to use WinAmp by default as I find/use them.
Would be slightly less frustrating if Win8 would stop trying to help. It keeps wanting to pop up and recommend this or that program, and generally doesn't come with a "no" button, you have to hit Escape or Windows Key to bounce back to the desktop. And I haven't yet found the "stop helping me" setting.

Heyas FAWTLy gents and lasses...
My grandfather is in the VA hospital slowly succumbing to old age. I ask that ya'll pray for, if you do, or send positive thoughts or well wishes my family's way. He's always been the rock of our family, and his loss will hit us hard
Of course. Prayers and wishes sent.

I feel like I'm going to overwhelm myself with the amount of info I want to have in hand with regards to all the people and places of Esvel, the "main" continent of my campaign world. There's so many things to take into account when building a world, but so little time to actually get everything down when it comes down to it...

My thoughts and best wishes are with him and your family. I hope if and when he passes he's surrounded by those who love and care for him. It sounds like he's a grand gentleman.

Scintillae wrote:Wizards spend day in and day out on the same spell list. They're known for knowing all this magic, but if they forget to fill out a sticky note...no prestidigitation today!Well at least in earlier Editions. In my opinion* Vancian casting, especially the way wizards do it is to memorise a formula. Like creating a mathematical equation in their brains, (or performing a piece of music). However until the solution is presented (or the final note is played) it's not complete and only upon completion will the magical energies be released & thus the spell cast.
This is why there are limits to the number of spells a wizard can cast everyday. As each equation (song) causes a build up of magical pressure in his skull. To try and remember more would be catastrophic.
It's also why there were hard limits for the number of different spells of a single level, as the wizard could only remember & understand a certain number of possible formulae (depending upon his intelligence). It's not like reading from a book, but rather solving an equation.*Very important preface, meaning I'm probably wrong - but it's a day of the week ending in the letter "y" & I'm always wrong on those.
hells yeah. This is how I've always seen it.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Somewhat happy Tuesday! I'm taking some training at a BP facility this morning. The drive here was fun, as I was basically driving by verbal directions from my supervisor and the google map app on my phone. Made it here without any problems.
And that's where the fun began. No one to ask or show where visitor parking is. When I finally found a spot that said visitor parking, pressing the button on the intercom panel did nothing. So then I had to turn around and try to find another place to park. Ended up randomly following another car and lucked out on a sign directing me to more visitor parking.
Found my way to the reception desk for the building I needed to be in, and they told me someone would collect me around 0745. Then why the f*!* did you say in the email to be here at 0730?!? Why have me waste f*#+ing time sitting on my ass for 15 minutes?!?
sorry to hear the day is starting so poorly.

just let it flow naturally man. Worry about the time you have to write and you'll never write anything. Just let it out bit by bit each day.

Einstein Begals [sic]
They just opened up an Einsteins on the road I take to work. I've stopped there five or six times now.
We had three or so out in the Phoenix valley that I visited or passed intermittently, so it's been a long time since I had them, didn't realize until I saw the building going up how much I'd missed them.
Still irked that all the Chipotle and Qdoba locations in Chattanooga closed. Doubly so that the closest ones of both are now two- or three-hour drives away.
