The Exchange

Just got home after running my now weekly Pathfinder game. The PC's have finally found the town of Winterhaven..1/2 way betwixt one major town and the next, along a dark and lonesome road. They are slowly starting to have a bit of respect for the goblins and pit traps. Lost a dog this time. Next time I think they might not play nice and may take the PC's down a bit. They have yet to find a good lead to the Wizards abandoned tower.

Hope all you FAWTLY Folk have a great day!

I've been up since 0600 or maybe a little before. I think everyone else needs to get up now.

Well, alright then, sleep all day. See if I care *sniffle*

Or, is this some sort of delayed reaction hangover for breaking 40000?

Anyway, off to run Pathfinderized Greyhawk.

Silver Crusade

HI, all. What did I miss?

I love it when the dog is properly walked. He lays out on the floor and is peaceful and quiet.

I maintained my killer GM status by killing 2 new Society Players in their first game.

My new puppy has the same effect on my kids.

Yeah; I thought a new dog would be a pain in the ass, but apparently so far it has proven to be more beneficial than not.

Scarab Sages

wishes he could get a new dog

I was driving to the store; pitch black; little 8 week old puppy ran in front of my car.
It was my dog, man. It was meant to be.

You did a good deed. And your kids will score you a Father of the Year now that the rapture prophecy did not come through.

Besides, you and that reverend have something in common.

You ask what? His last name: Camping. What you like to do in here to get TOTP? Camping.

+ a million.

Silver Crusade

Meh. Just got terrible service and mediocre food for way too much money at a restaurant. I just don't enjoy them anymore. I like taking a night off every week from cooking, but why can't I have a halfway decent restaurant experience?

I'd b@#+~ to the manager if it's a lot of money.

Hey everybody

OK, need some SERIOUS job-related advice:

Spoiler:
I applied for a job at Valvoline Instant Oil Change in early January. Last Monday, I got a callback saying that they wanted to set up an interview, and that they would call the following day at 1 PM to actually schedule a time.

On Tuesday, 1 PM came and went without a phone call, so I called them at around 3 PM. The guy on the other end of the line apologized and said that he had forgotten to call me back, but the manager wasn't around, and I should call back in the morning.

On Wednesday, at around 9 AM, I called again, and got the same guy. He said that the manager was in, but was busy, and that he would call back in an hour. He never called back, so around 1 PM, I called them AGAIN. This time, a different guy answered the phone and said that he had no idea what was going on and to call back the next day.

On THURSDAY, around 2 PM, I called ONCE AGAIN, and this time actually got the manager. He said that he would call back in an hour to set up the interview. Guess what happened.

On FRIDAY, I called them YET AGAIN, and was given a quick brush-off by the guy from Wednesday, saying that things were really busy and he would call back in 45 minutes, which was exactly what he didn't do.

Today (well, yesterday, now), I didn't call them. My plan is to call them back on Monday, and if I get the same s%!#, I'm going to show up in person and ask what the f*** is going on.

I REALLY need this job. The pay is decent, I already have experience doing this type of work, and Valvoline was the only business out of around 150-200 that gave me a callback. They have already said that they want to hire me, but apparently are too busy playing with themselves to do anything about it. What the hell is going on, and what the hell should I do?

Silver Crusade

Shiney, I think you've got the right idea. Try calling again, but then show up in person. If the manager is that busy, he may not be that interested in sitting through interviews and may actually appreciate that approach.

Silver Crusade

Speaking of Valvoline, back in the late 90s I had a Geo Metro with a b@!+% of an oil leak. At the time, Valvoline had a policy where if you got an oil change from them, you could get a "free fluid top off" whenever you want for the next 6 months. I would literally come in every week for 2 quarts of oil.

If they don't have that policy anymore, it's because I gamed the system like a bastard.

FYI - the engine seized on the Geo. Go figure.

That's just awesome. Also, never buy a Geo.

I don't know, man. I hate to say it, but if they blew you off that many times, they may not be interested in hiring you despite what they said. Or they just might be unprofessional dicks. You and Imperator CH have got it--drop by in person and force the issue.

Here's hoping that they're just unprofessional dicks.

Forgive me, I don't recall, but whereish in Germany do you live, genosse?

Spoiler:
I would say try again. They might be being dicks OR they might be so GD busy that interviewing you keeps gettting dropped to the bottom of the pile because new crises keep popping up. I mean, if this is the only job calling you back, it's worth one more shot

I live in the State of Hessia, right in the middle. Near a small town called Gelnhausen (militar guys may have heard the term Fulda Gap in the cold war, thats where I live) next big city is Frankfurt
