I mean, we can try but it comes out more Urkel than Samuel L. Jackson.

No but I can turn up my white gingerness.
Mostly it involves dancing poorly and clapping on the 1 and 3

Congratulations, VE!
Totally random: you're the THIRD "Yeah, parenthood is not for me" person I know to get blindsided by the news in the past month. One is a friend NH's age, Two is a militant feminist bisexual who ageed to buy a house with, but is refusing to marry, her male partner because somethihg something patriarchy.
PSA TIME, FAWTLERS: THE GUMMINT IS PUTTING SOMETHING IN THE WATER. DON'T SHAG FOR A WHILE UNTIL THEY MOVE ON TO ANOTHER PROJECT.
That was a silly digression.
Seriously... congratulations.

I am excited and terrified and nervous and confident and pretty much every male stereotype of how to panic but still be super happy about this scenario.
Every FaWtLer with spawn: Best piece of advice?
Congrats!
Advice is hard because every kid is different. The best advice I’ve got is to be prepared to be flexible. Plans are great. They make a nice whooshing sound as you toss them out the window because your actual kid needs something totally different! :)

I'm with Lynora on the "be flexible" advice. Not everything (very precious little) is going to go according to plan.
And remember that you're going to screw up. All parents do.

(1) We have encountered LordSynos, and he is Tall. We will commence with the feeding shortly. (He’s currently shopping with Shiro, GothBard, and Impus Major while I relax at the hotel with Impus Minor.)
(2) Kids:
- If you think a behavior is a problem, imagine an 18-year-old doing it. If you can’t, stop sweating it. (The person who gave me this advice pointed out his daughter’s standing on the chair instead of sitting in it at the dinner table as an example.)
- Pick your battles extremely carefully
- Win every one
Honestly, kids’ primary influences are:
- Nature
- Their parents’ behavior.
Anything you’re trying to do that goes against either or both of those two things will be a massive battle. But some of those you have to fight anyway. And it’s exhausting.

Well, it's happened: the inevitable point in any vacation where I'm absolutely ready to leave and be done with my family's drama, but I really don't want to go home yet because I'm also on vacation from WW's unending midlife crisis.
This time, I've lasted sixteen days before getting to this point. That's a personal best!
But we're not scheduled to leave for ten more days.
I keep reminding myself that, when I go, I'm not going to be able to see them again for an entire year, and that is hard, because I really do love them more than anything except my kids. And Hermione and Val will be miserable if I take them away from Grandma and Auntie early, and my mother will be miserable, too.
So I'm going to tough it out and remain silent and hope (as it usually does) that it will get at least a little better again after the current storm has blown over.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be asexual if you did ftw.
Just saying.

you need to relocate everyone to Brooklyn, so you can ditch everyone at Coney Island and sun yourself at Rockaway Beach.
Or the other way around, depending on how much of a...sun worshiper...you are.

Every year we have a really fantastic art festival in the summer. Every year the festival ends up falling on the hottest day of the year. This year appears to be no exception.
The question is, do I dare venture outside to see the neat artses*, or do I hide in an air-conditioned room until it's all over (where "it" may be the bad weather or the world as we know it in general)? While some of it is indoors, it is still mainly a street festival and also I'd have to walk a ways to it because of how crazy parking is.
