Ironically(?)...Oddly, I don't play any MMORPGs. I'm pretty sure I'd end up losing a lot of sleep, and there are unpleasant knock-on effects to losing sleep.

Same here. Which is what pisses me off about the new Star Wars Old Republic game. From what I hear, it's an MMO. I liked the old single player version.

Hi, my name's Joe and I'm a EverQuest addict. It's been months since I've played pen and paper.
Actually, my guild in EQ2 is made up of several members of my old gaming groups. Despite the distances we're able to heckle each other like we used to do.
Then there's my noise tolerance issue. I can't handle pen and paper with 8-10 players without frying my brain for the next day. Zombies may like fried brains but treants don't.

Why the hate on MMORPGs if they're played by people in basements, FDM?
I think Mairkurion has an alias to cover the first word of your second post, taig.
Why does losing sleep piss you off, AZ?
Why?

Oh noes! Gark has figured out my dirty secret. I am in fact not a slightly overweight Swedish man. In truth, I am a smoking hot female French supermodel. ;)
And it's Old Uppsala (I should know, having a grandfather buried at the churchyard next to the barrows). No such thing as an Old Stockholm as far as I know.

I didn't know you did EQ2 treant. I still occasionally old-school EQ, but my time has been compressed for that lately (plus the haxxor that Sony just went thru).

I played EQ2 for a long time, but it always seemed like too much "grind" for me. WoW seems to be faster paced. (And I am still the guildmaster of the "Paizonians" guild.)

Yeah, some friends got me hooked on it last year when my resistance was low. LOL.

My eldest son plays WoW. They're both great time-killers.
Now that I expect I can read a book in larger segments than 4 pages at a sitting I will mix in some actual reading with my computer time. :)

A few years ago Lilith got me hooked on KoL. I've been playing it ever since. Two things I really like about it. 1) It's free. And free right now is good. And 2) there are really only so many turns you can play in a day. I know that if I did WoW, I'd probably forget what my kids look like.

So that's what it's called! One of my friends played it, and liked it more than the game we both started playing around 2004 (independently). I'm not really in touch with him right now, but have been thinking about it since I got out of school. Have a bunch of old friends from that part of town I'd like to see again.
Anyway, didn't much care for the game then because he was going into a hobo camp and killing hobos. Back then, I think I took it at face value.
I'm pretty sure he's not still playing the same game I am, but then I never remembered his username.

Yep, we have a basement in our clan with hobos in it. They're pretty tough though. It's kind of neat -- the designers based a lot of that area on a book (I forget the name off the top of my head). They met with the author, made sure that they had his permission to use some of his stuff and even give him some homage with the final boss hobo. I'm pretty sure that they didn't need to since they are probably covered with parody laws -- it's just nice that they did so anyway.
Recently, we got to ride winged yetis and attack the Bone Star.

If you ever think this occurs, fill out these forms {hands ream of paper} and file them with one of my office girls.

I don't know how I made that mistake. Maybe because Mairkurion and Ambrosia are one and the same!
