Nope. Freehold and Orthos would definitely not agree on nudity in Y-Wings.

If that's what you want to call them, I suppose no-one can stop you.

Terra absolutely needs a hug, and probably some serious therapy too. There have been very few traditional fantasy protagonists that had a more traumatic life than her.

FFVI is personally my favorite entry in the FF series with VII as a very close second mainly because you can (and SHOULD) suplex a ghost train while sprinting backward at 60+ MPH without tripping.

I dunno. The traumatized hero was a big thing at the time,

Also, some bad news. Reiko Kodama passed away.

Ipod I was playing it on bricked fairly soon after and I didn't pick it up again until recently. It's fairly quickly become my favourite FF game, and I'm installing myself as the president of the Terra Needs a Hug Foundation.

I hopped back on to say thank you to both of you for convincing me to buy it way back then.

You are absolutely most welcome, and I'm glad you found a story you could enjoy.

Now try Chrono Trigger if you haven't. =D

Food is important!

So is water!

Role-playing games are fun!

See! We agree!

Currently in Las Cruces, NM for a funeral. Met a cousin I didn't know I had. She seems cool, but my family got tired of me pretty quickly (go figure, right?), so I ended up spending the rest of the evening drinking with the road warriors in the hotel lobby (they gave me a pass for being a fellow tradesman). I can think of worse things, I guess.

So because the house is chilly (it's 46 and we haven't turned the gas heat back on yet), I had my bread dough rising in the oven this morning.
Miz Daisy went into the kitchen and started puttering and turned on the oven to preheat without looking in it first, because of course she did, and the plastic wrap covering the loaf melted into it and I had to throw the whole thing away and that was the last of my rye flour.

Then, she opened the door to my room without knocking to hand me an apology note and I completely lost my s%#* and yelled at her to never touch my door again, because my room does not belong to her, and closed it in her face. I was so angry I was shaking.

I'm a great person. Yelling at an 84-year-old woman with cognitive issues.

I can't live like this any more.

It's been snowing here on and off for a couple of hours. Got about 1/2 inch so far.

We had an interesting candy discussion last night. Impus Major started it off by asking why Almond Joy bars exist: They're nobody's favorite candy bar, so how does the manufacturer make a profit if the only way they're sold is through Halloween "mixed candy" bags?

I brought it up with the group, and the feeling was similar: No one considered Almond Joys anything above middle-of-the-road candy (we have no coconut haters, so nobody in the group hated them). However, two of the group members pointed out that if there were two variety bags offered, one with Almond Joy and one without, they'd preferentially choose the bags with.

Which is hard for me to get my mind around. Almond Joy is consistently everyone's third choice in any mixed candy bag. So why does everyone want to see it in the bag?

Never seen that one around here.

Is that like Bounty with added almonds?

Heh

On 3 November 2022, it was announced that Bounty bars would be removed from some Celebrations tubs in the United Kingdom, after the manufacturers found that 40% of people hated them. A limited run of "No Bounty" tubs would be available, in the weeks before Christmas. But a final decision had not been made after 18% of people named the Bounty as their favourite.

Drejk wrote:

In the U.S., there are Mounds bars (dark chocolate coated sweetened coconut) and Almond Joy bars (milk chocolate coated sweetened coconut with a couple of whole almonds on top).

With the abyssal plunge in quality of commercial chocolate in the U.S., no common "chocolate" bars are all that inspiring, but Almond Joys are particularly unimpressive.

On the down side, the rest of the week looks like a world of stupid.
On the bright side, it's "easy stupid" and I have next week off, so at least it'll be relaxing.

As I think I posted back in August, my entire department management chain was laid off, so I had the option of moving to a new department or trying to be the one-man developer, manager, and troubleshooter for 13 published courses, plus do all new course development. Somehow, I chose to move to a new department.

Thus, my old department was shut down with hardly a whimper. During the month of August, I had no idea what my future held, so I built a course. I couldn't finish it because the product wasn't working. I set aside this week to finalize that course.

And I've learned that:
(1) No one is expecting the course
(2) The product still doesn't work
(3) The *one* person I can talk to about it (the lead instructor for my old department) is on vacation this week, and I'm on vacation next week.

So what'll I do? Well, I'll finish the course, because I don't believe in sitting around idle. But I doubt it'll ever see the light of day.

Ah, well. At least I'm getting paid for it.

I've hung out and worked with Vany (or more specifically he worked with me while I was building a marble alcove next to a tennis court).

Otherwise Wisconsin is kind of a no man's land for the Paizo forums and I don't travel as much as I used to.

It's funny -- as we approach Day 100 of GothBard's unemployment, everyone's adjusted spectacularly well to the necessary reductions in spending... except Tuesday nights.

We have the "family" game Tuesday nights, and for years the kids looked forward to some kind of takeout. Now it's something home-cooked and easy, from spaghetti and meatballs to salmon terikaki to beef bulgogi. Still hearty meals, but the kids amuse me by continuing to be disappointed every week. "Whats for dinner tonight?" "Something home cooked." "Disappointed, 'Oh, OK.'"

In every other area they've been great about it, so it's pretty funny.

Well, I was SUPPOSED to meet Freehold (and possibly Celestial Healer as well) for lunch in Brooklyn on my way home from Maine with the kids this summer, but it didn't work out.

And Vany keeps threatening to visit if he ever follows through on his Big Western Road Trip.

It's unlikely that I will ever return to Wisconsin after visiting my hometown in 2007. Except I still haven't been to the House on the Rock.

So my list may stand at just NobodysHome for a while yet.

Rather angry about this, and it could definitely be considered triggering:

Yesterday some utter [lengthy string of expletives redacted] called 911 in Kennebunk, pretended to be a teacher at my niece's school, and said there was an active shooter and five kids down. The misinformation went wild on mom text groups and social media before it was proven to be a hoax and the school lockdown was lifted.

All my niece knows is that "things were weird and and dark and we didn't get to go outside for PE". Eve, meanwhile, is ready to tear the miscreant apart with her bare hands and eat his liver.

This may be a cultural thing. Lots of people outside of the US (read- non whites) LOVE chocolate and coconut together, and almonds is a nice touch too. It's popular in certain areas as it is associated with decadence.
