That is when you get arcane blacksmith and move smithing to 100 to bump it up a bit.

However, in honour of the birthday of Captain Yesterday, scholar, gentleman, bear-shaver, fireplace-puller-out-of arse-er, Favoured of Moradin, and Eddie Vedder doppelganger, I drank it anyway.

Homunculus #2, rummaging through cupboards and getting progressively exasperated: Why do all our mugs have gross dried stuff on the inside bottom?!

Me: Teachable moment!!!

(Mrs Sunrise and the Homunculi have a habit of leaving used dishes out indefinitely, and eventually putting them in the dishwasher unsoaked. Drives me crazy.)

"We expect to release student schedules at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 20. However, since this is the first time we're ever trying it, please be patient."

So, what would have been wrong with saying, "We'll release student schedules by 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 20" and then have the internal deadline be 2:00 pm?

Gives you 4 hours of fudge factor.

(Yes, it's after 2:00 pm here and the schedules didn't make it.)

EDIT: Yeah, they had it up by 2:30 pm. If they'd just said 6:00 pm everyone would've been happy at their amazing efficiency. Instead, everyone's grumbling about how slow they were.

Set your expectations correctly, people!

Oh, and I got hired at a different arcade. Slightly less pay, but I can start pretty much right away, and it's all above-the-board. I don't feel comfortable with under the table stuff. I love the concept of cutting the government out of it's share, but I also know the NSA is always watching, and I somehow feel the IRS is petty enough to get mad about a little thing like that.

It was truly our intent last Halloween, like we discussed, but well...perpetual poverty and all that.

I'm actually ashamed we didn't stop in Savannah on the way down to Florida to see Sharoth, but that entire drive was just chaos, and we were trying to get it over with as soon as possible. The infant had her ears pop somewhere in West Virginia, and just hated being on the road from every minute after. I think I got maybe five hours sleep at the most that night, and was already under for the entire week of anxiety before.

And I know both of you forgive me, which is all the more reason I wish I had visited when I could.

Once we're on our feet, and Tac is only about...a three hour away drive, according to Google Maps...maybe he can convey that I'm capable of being social in person. (Probably will be quite a while, to be honest - three hours one way is still a hell of a round trip) ...though again, I know he'd forgive that, too, which is again, all the more reason.

I look forward to it!

But... three hours? Really? Hrm. Thought you were closer!

It... has been a while since I've been to J-ville, though, and you are further north, and the traffic in some areas can be frustrating, and I-10 is the main way to this side and it's a podunk's podunk road, especially at night when it's full fog and you've been stuck unable to move forward or turn around due to traffic in the middle of nowhere with no lights other than red tail lights turning the impenatrafog fiendishly red for the last four hours and please, please, why did I make the wrong decisions in liiiiife uh, I mean, and can be somewhat frustrating in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That is to say, yeah, we cool. :D

I'm not in Jacksonville. That is where I lived prior to my divorce. Then it was Fort Pierce, then Ohio, now back in Fort Pierce...and I will be moving to Okeechobee next week. Okeechobee to Ocala is just over three hours.

Speaking of terrible communication, at the start of this week I checked Impus Minor's schedule and it was four 45-minute classes a day.

This morning I got an email at 11:00 am that orientation would be 6:00 pm tonight. Nice notice! At orientation I learned:
(1) They'd increased the length of every class to 80 minutes.
(2) They'd moved the "off day" from Monday to Friday.
(3) They'd completely rewritten the first week's schedule.
(4) They're requiring that students have a camera for tests.

Thanks for letting me know FOUR DAYS BEFORE CLASS!

Well, at least it wasn't the day of, but seriously? Post one schedule on Monday and another on Thursday? Just DON'T POST until things are final!!!!

I wish other jobs had tenure besides academia. Could you imagine working retail knowing you couldn't get fired? It would go from the worst job to the absolute best.

"You want to return this smoothie blender? Broken, you say? Let's just plug it in and...yeah, it works. You quit your diet, didn't you? Nah, your three chins say it all, you lazy b!%@~."

Imagine the pure catharsis you'd have. Everyone would avoid middle aged clerks like the plague, because you know the young ones HAVE to treat you nicely, while the rest say everything they bottled up for a decade.

About to go home. Good night, everyone.

Someone dropped the ball, I'm planting trees today.

Which would be the first trees I've planted this year.

I've placed trees and I've picked them up from the nursery but I always had someone else to order the trees be planted.

It's been so long I don't know what to do without a saw in my hands but the boss was SUPER specific about not using a saw on them.
