Ken Turnage out of Antioch. Google at your own risk.

That's who I meant; not sure why I typed the initials backwards. I still have some friends who live out there. One is a hospice nurse/punk musician. You can imagine, she has views.

No; Antioch is notoriously corrupt and conservative. Notice that he's both the chairman of the planning commission for Antioch *AND* a general contractor in Antioch. Er... conflict of interest much?
I don't know Antioch's government, but such positions are typically appointments with no method for removal short of a council meeting, and most councils aren't meeting all that often because of the coronavirus, so between logistics issues and legal difficulties, I expect he'll be just fine. In Antioch he'll probably see an uptick in business thanks to his views.

Funny, but yeah, you definitely would. I've known her for 22, 23 years, but the only time you two have been in the same place, I wasn't in the mood to make introductions or greet people.

Paywall, but..holy s***. No words here.
Has this ever happened in the entire history of New York?
Also, wouldn't attempting to disinfect some of those cars have roughly the same effect as Judge Doom putting some hapless 'Toon in The Dip?

I can see why some might think that, but no. All trains were cleaned/swept at the end of their lines(multiple times/day), and sanitized at least once a day before this. During, they are sanitized at the end of the lines, and if someone hits the 'I'm sick' button they are pulled out of service to be sanitized(although that can a b$!*$ to do).
To remove overnight service is unthinkable.

I have distributed almost all of my no longer wanted possessions to goodwill and packed up all the stuff I'm keeping except for non-winter clothes, daily-use items like fan, sleep-aid noisemaker, computer, etc., my Raspberry Pi, and a few random assorted miscellanea. I need to sort thru my vast collection of ties to keep the small few I actually wear and send the rest to GW, and then I will be completely done and ready to leave.
A full week and change early.
I imagine there will be much nervous meandering thru the next 10 days.

It would seem whoever bought the new saw blade for our chop saw hasn't learned that some things you can't buy the cheapest possible.
Yeah. "Pay $1 for a drill bit and use it once, or pay $10 for a drill bit and use it 100 times. Which is better?"
Scary how many contractors fail that little test...

Sooo very different from the bay area, then.

Its still all a bit weird for me. It always is after my birthday. I've never been a big birthday celebrater, but I always would go home for the weekend because celebrating birthdays was the most important thing for my mom and we'd make cake together and now I cant do that anymore and I cant even go home now to visit my dad and make the cake myself.

Audible. The voice acting's pretty good, but not on a par with the blokes who did the Fafhrd and Grey Mouser books and the Phoenix Guards (etc.) ones, both of whom were right out of the top drawer.

I think the big issue here is lack of trust into the product quality. If you burned yourself too many times on expensive things, you will be wary to risk more money. I can't count how many times the high cost was not followed by better quality. Yes, there are things that are much better, but unless you have a good and recent* recommendation, you might be wasting extra money.
*product quality often drops with time and disappoints, even despite the previous one was fine.

Nope, Wisconsinites are notorious for being cheap, that's why every town has two Walmarts.

THAT 'Sounds' cool! {Pun intended) ;P
I'll have to check them out.
I still have a boxed set of audio cassettes. "Lord of the Rings", "Voiced by a full set of actors on 12- 1 hour cassettes". :)
And also a cassette of "The Hobbit", voiced by the author. :)
(My dad loved this stuff. I salvaged what I could after he died, before mom threw all the rest away) :P

It's set up as a RetroPi console. Even looks like a tiny NES.

Day so far:
Woke up before alarm.
Called both contractor and home warranty company about a work order, finally managed after 3 days to get an appointment scheduled for next week to fix my washer and dryer.
Made banana bread.
Got on biweekly check-in with homeroom. Used the magic of MSPaint and walked kiddo through FOIL after they lost the link to their teacher's video. Simultaneously demonstrated that writing with a mouse makes my handwriting into eldritch scribbles of Far Realm power.
Got straggler reflection paragraphs to Tinker v. Des Moines looked over and popped into gradebook.
Noted grass is already needing another round with the wheely guillotine. Beginning to miss my days of not having a yard.
It's not even 10.
