Borderlands 3 Update:
Windows User #1: 2 fatal crashes
Windows User #2: 1 fatal crash
Windows User #3: One minor but hard-to-diagnose technical issue where a dialog popped up behind the game window and he couldn't play at all until he figured out to minimize the game and check his taskbar to find out what was wrong
Linux User #1: No issues whatsoever outside of the two published "known issues" (first-time region transitions are slow, and animations take 5-10 seconds to show video)
So yeah, maybe Windows User #3 is running slightly better than I am, but not much...

You can drown in 2 inches of water. 2 inches of snow can be deadly to a region that isn't equipped with what is needed to deal with it.

Impus Minor complains bitterly that Albany schools never close due to weather.
And so he slowly begins to realize that we don't actually have weather. We have:
- Sunny and warm
- Sunny and cool
- Drizzly
- Foggy or cloudy; I can't tell whichThat's about it.
Oh, and I forgot the new, trendy, hipster weather: "Choking smoke".

That's the best time to go out and play!

Two inches of snow isn't worth dealing with. That's the secret. Just drive to work (as long as you don't have summer tires, but even then you can make it if you're not stupid).

Well, we have:
Light rain
Heavy rain
Torrential downpour
Sludgy rain
Frozen rain
Threatening rain
Rain tomorrow

I like rain and I love snow. I would be sad without either of them. If you are caught by surprise by either to the point that you have no idea what to do, something has gone wrong somewhere. Then again, my cousins from Panama still haven't forgiven me for introducing them to snow, so maybe I should not talk. At least one grumbles and calls me Primo Helado YEARS after the fact.

Rags, you were a wee wizard? When? During the time of the Romans? Or even earlier? ~grins and runs~
"FIREBALL!"
Erm, I meant,... 'Of course I was. Once.'
Just dont ask how LONG ago,....
(Seriously. Please dont ask. It's..... depressing.) ;)
My problem is that I hang around college-age-twenty-somethings all day, every day.
I tend to forget that my friends and I am NO longer 20-something.
;P

Ah yes, nothing like watching the entire Big Sleazy, i mean BIG EASY shut down for THREAT of a snowflake. That never came.
ALL of the weather men were forecasting gloom and doom, "NO WAY can New Orleans not get snow!"
The then-mayor crawled out from under his rock and declared a state of emergency. "ALL non-essential personnel must stay home!"
I got up the next morning and drove to work, because I needed the job.
I was the ONLY person on the road. The city looked like an abandoned post-apocalyptic movie set. Literally NO signs of life but me.
It was 80 degrees.
I was laughing so hard that I still almost had a wreck. By myself. ;P
Some folks just have NO idea how to deal with weather they dont normally get, I guess. Better over-reaction of caution than not being careful enough.
I guess. :)

So, here's an interesting question perhaps CY might be able to answer: What is it with contractors and painting? Is it really that much of a PITA?
Our roofer told us outright that it took a separate license to do paint work, and he refused to pay for the license so we'd have to paint everything ourselves. I regret not forcing him to at least give me a referral to someone who would do it for us, because the amount of exposed wood was rather amazing. (They had to replace a LOT of stuff...)
Our fireplace contractor is just finishing up the fireplace, and while I thought he was going to do the final paint job, the contract is to install "a paint grade mantle"... in other words, something ready to be painted.
So apparently, painting is something good contractors don't do any more.
Any idea why not, CY?

So, every year my accountant sends me a "tax organizer" and I hate it because it is multiple pages of checkboxes, and being an obsessive-compulsive I always go through it anyway and get all peeved.
This year I'm feeling quite a bit better about it because I'd totally forgotten that college tuition is tax-deductible, so those little checkboxes probably just made me around $100-$200. (OK. Not really. My accountant is also a family friend so he would have asked about the kids and caught it. But knowing that I have to bring him the form before he asks for it is nice.)

It's monotonous.
And messy if you're not paying close attention, which contractors are incapable of doing.
Personally, I like painting.

I bought a solo RPG (which can also be played cooperatively) called "Four Against Darkness". Played it this eve and liked it, although I may have inadvertently cheated.
The idea is you wander through a randomly generated using Basic D&D classed characters and kill stuff (mostly). There are published adventures too.
Pretty easy to get the hang of, and I'm going to give it a go with ALL (DE) and the kids next week, too.

I worked 9 and a half hours for two inches of snow, another 6-10 inches of snow due tonight.
I did not lose my wallet like I initially thought, so that's pretty sweet
I had Fat Pervert Captain and Rocko again, Rocko talks too much and Fat Pervert Captain apparently can't work on minimal sleep or he might die, or at least that's what he told me.
We'll see if either one makes it back tomorrow.

We just got our annual Global IT survey. Google Chrome is no longer listed as a recommended browser.
Just 5 years ago, Chrome was the gold standard of a lightweight standards-compliant browser. Now it's seen as a data privacy nightmare that should no longer be used for any reason.
Nice job, Google!
(On the other hand, our Global IT says, "Use Firefox or IE". Any IT department that is still recommending Internet Explorer for anything deserves to be globally terminated. And maybe not even in a job sense...)
Unfortunately...in the medical and banking areas...far too many of our clients have not bothered to update their websites and we're still stuck with hanging on to IE.
Of course, the next question is how many modern browsers are good enough for enterprise use and also don't use the Chromium engine under the hood?
Ah, labmachines. Many which had critical pieces of software which never got updated because of money, or the manufacturer went under.
So you had windows/linux/macs all strewn about. All running hugely out of date OSes. I bet that once windows 98 machine is still kept alive, somehow.

Ive got a lot of painting to do come spring. And since painting is monotonous but you need to pay attention to what you're doing, I cant let MrT help me. He absolutely does not have the attention span for it.

I miss my old 98 machine. Ran everything like a dream. It wasnt until h games made the jump to XP that I accepted then came to love my XP machine. So many emulators...

Stop hogging all the snow!
You can keep all the Fat Pervert Captains, though.
If you thought Rocko talked too much, wait until I start shoveling with you.
