Syrus and TGH, Is this what you are talking about? If so, then it has been an interesting read.

okay, that made me laugh.

Freehold DM, is there anything that I can do to help out with your bike troubles? I do not mind sending you some money. I know just how much fun it is to have something stolen from you, so I would like to help out.
its okay. I'm still processing. Yesterday was my first day back at work, and passing where it all happened was...hard. I am going to go over the video tapes of that day onWednesday, hopefully.

What episodes you ask? ~wicked smile~ Firefly! I figure we could get 20 to 30 people willing to shell out to hear your per episode complaints about how Joss Whedon stole this and how he stole that from various sources.
HE DID!

We're finally out of California!
So it turns out that, when the small humans are upset about moving, they're cranky and irrational and road trips take way longer than expected.
I'm going to guess it's a combination of both. My parents took us on a road trip to frigging Yellowstone back when I was their age. Days on end of driving through deserts, then open plains. It was maddening. But I don't remember being a real pain about it. But then, we had the Volvo, and all of us could sleep in the back whenever we got too bored.
But yeah, road trips with little ones without RVs suck, and road trips with little ones with RVs cost way too much to be even remotely reasonable.

This always irritates the heck out of me. You do realize that multiple people can come up with the same idea? Not everyone is intimately familiar with every piece of information or media that predates them.
Hell, it happened to me. I was bouncing an idea for a story I'd had off a friend my freshman year of college. "...that's basically Ender's Game." I'd never read it and had no idea. I read it after that and was unimpressed, still don't think it was the same story, but whatever.
And having heard your argument before, many, many times, I'm still unconvinced to join your crusade against it and maintain that I found more rewatchability in Firefly than Outlaw Star, and it had fewer superfluous, annoying characters in the core cast.

Nice and sore with cuts all over my hands this morning.
NobodysWife's response? "Oh, Love? I arranged for a massage and salt scrub later today. Hope that's OK!"
Lovely.
(And no; she didn't really, but as soon as she heard "open cuts all over" she went for the jugular...)
what happened?

When they include the exact same camera shots in addition to ideas, it's not a multiple discovery, imo. Nor do you have legions of fans swearing it is all a coincidence despite evidence to the contrary.

I think you should have gone for it, as you had never read enders game. If you had and were quietly erasing the authors name and putting yours on it, it would be different.

you are free to like and even love firefly. I just hate it. I hate everything Whedon has done, including kitty pride phasing a planet sized bullet through the earth. No need to join me on my crusade, this is a personal vendetta.

Home improvement happened. As my father used to say, "It's not a project until you have to go to the emergency room for stitches."

Mainly putting up a lattice in the middle of a very old, very well-established, very ornery rose bush. Because standing on a ladder in the middle of said bush, trying to get screws out of your pocket to get the lattice installed, mistakes happen.
But the funniest part? None of the rose bush scratches bothered me all that much. But I was also working on the sink and needed some plastic wrap. And if any of you have used Costco plastic wrap, you know the cutter on the box is the most violent, vicious bit of sadism ever invented. So I got a cut on my thumb from the plastic wrap, and that hurt like you wouldn't believe...

I accidentally did something from Grim Fandango well before I watched it or even heard about it in Reign of Winter. Someone's afterlife ended up with a travel agent asking him where he wanted to go on vacation...

Singapore is almost on the equator. I'm pretty sure they just have wet and wetter seasons. (I'm assuming wet/dry with monsoons, but I haven't actually done any research.)

So we're in Holbrook, Arizona, and have thirteen hours of driving to do today, across New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle.
(WHICH DOESN'T LOOK REMOTELY LIKE A F***ING PANHANDLE, BUT THAT'S IT'S NAME. WTF, TEXAS?)
Yesterday was a brutal slog, and today will be, too, because we didn't end up leaving our old house until eleven Sunday night, seven hours after our target departure time, because it just took us that pong to get things done.
And we kept pushing through last night because I had stupidly pee-paid for a motel room at what I judged was the best stopping place to not make the final driving day even worse.
Because we're supposed to meet with the property manager to get our keys at nine tomorrow morning.
Because we have appointments to get the gas and power and water turned on tomorrow and we have to be there when it happens.
Because we have four people coming tomorrow to help us unload.

Isn't it called the panhandle because its long and sticks out from the rest of the state??

There was a month without rain once. Made me sad since I saw all the grass was turning brown. And the tree leaves were turning yellow too.

Except it isn't; that bit is squat and square, like Wolverine BEFORE Hugh Jackman made him ridiculously sexy. The point being, there is nothing about the Texas "Panhandle" that screams "grab me".

I'm going to have to take Singapore off my list of places to visit, then. If I hate Panama, I'll probably hate it there.

Also, Robin Williams was supposed to be Beast.

Deep breaths LM. It's rough now, but you are going to make it through. I know you're mainly just tired and frustrated, and schedule weighs heavy on the mind.
I don't have any more time I can take off work (I missed almost 3 straight weeks from Aiymi's hospitalization and me getting sick) or I would offer to drive down myself and help you out for a day or two (even as just a pair of hands to carry heavy items), since it's about 12.5 hours of driving from here to Dallas. Could probably get there at about the same time if I had the ability to leave now.
