Doing well, Kjeldorn. How are you?
Oh pretty well, I'm just making dinner and cleaning up after the guests I had over this afternoon.
We had a cozy coffee and cake session, where we tried to get some RPing done, but most of the fellows couldn't really focus much today, so it was mostly Prep-work/sidestory-ing, for when we meet again on Tuesday. But everyone went home happy so no damage done.

My name, Leila, is pretty easy to learn. People just don't try!
Yay!!! First page!

One of player characters in our long standing (and long unended) Fading Suns campaign was Leila al-Malik. Her name was mispronunced occasionally (Layla being the most common, I think).

On the subject of names, my real life first name, while perfectly common in Russia, is not at all common here. (Yes, I was named after a character in dr zhivago, yes I do hate the character in question.) So I have been called every variation under the sun to the point that I've stopped even trying to correct people. I even tried using my nickname exclusively on the grounds that it was shorter so had a better chance to be remembered. How wrong I was. It just kicked off a new round of weird misremembered names.
Sigh. My online name is so much easier. :/

I thought your name was lynora...

Yay, Tiny T-Rex!
Congratulations (one supposes), K, for top-page whatever!
That's just sad. I, at least, make an effort to remember, and say correctly, the names of my friends. :)
I am legitimately terrible at names. I try, bless my heart*. It just doesn't work well.
That said, it's usually not so much misremembering the name, as not remembering the name at all. I'll go into great detail describing the physical characteristics and personality and the last twelve things we've done together about a person before (maybe) deme wrong their name. Strangely, this more rarely applies to RPG characters, except today both my wife and I blanked on an entire campaign setting's worth of names... go figure. XD
(All I'll say on that is Freehold would be happy.)
* This is a meaningful phrase where I am from.

That's the name I use on online forums, social media, and also my pen name, not to mention it's how I refer to myself when I'm talking to myself, so it basically is my name...
It's just not the name on my birth certificate and other official documents

You can keep calling me Kile, Kileanna or how you better like. You can call me by my real name but maybe it could be confused for other users.

I know her because my mother had a cassete with a song from her called Open Sesame.
I don't think I was named after her. Or so I hope.My mother didn't want me to have a typical Spanish name because she was tired of Marías and Anas, so she went for something exotic.

I've just finished my gaming too for today. They had to leave early. I might have a short session tomorrow too.
I hope you had fun, Kjeldorn ^.^

Yea it was okay, just a little annoyed that grown men and women, in the age group of 28-36 doesn't have longer attention spans ^^ ...
But I shouldn't really complain, as I was just as quick, as everyone else to join the derailment train, when they went off the tracks. How about your group, everything went according to plan?

At various times, people (who have been told what my first name is) have misremembered it as David, Ya'akov or Christian, none of which are terribly close. It's an odd name (in Northern Europe, at least), but not that bloody odd.
David, Ya'akov... Christian? I am trying to find a common ground here...

They sound like hand puppets,...except christian he's probably straight out of the latest barbie catalogue.
Edit: Oh people get my birth name wrong, all the time, at work. But they are often excused, as most of the older people (40+) have probably been kicked in the head more then once, during their work life.

I would have liked to finish GMing Hangman's Noose but I knew it was unlikely as I was getting back an old player that was away for a lot of time and I knew they couldn't stay for long.
But we enjoyed, I fed them, everything was OK. We'll see if we can have a short session tomorrow and we can finish the story. One of my players comes from playing theatre (that was mostly my experience before I got to roleplaying) and he really lives his characters. He's great for setting a good mood to the adventure.

Tell me about it.
I suppose there's a Biblical link, but that's about it.

Not quite the same spelling, but...

The mistake about my name that I most hated was when my first surname was mistaken for Ascaris when I studied Biology! I mean, I know my teachers did it on purpose!
That is actually somewhat unfortunate, you have my condolences...
I know of some of their relatives, who love to reside in horses, in frighteningly large quantities.

Well, guys. Someone's finally done it. Someone has finally pissed me off enough to want someone dead. It seems that, between Yesterday afternoon and this afternoon, someone had drained my checking account to nearly zero. Right now, I'm unable to renew my Transit pass for the week after next week, or even do laundry. There's a branch of my bank that's open tomorrow. I'll go there to try to get this resolved. Wish me luck.

That's terrible john, is there anything we can do to help?

No. I appreciate the well-wishes, but this is something the bank has to take care of. Since this was done electronically, I suspect Hackers. I'm going to have my bank put an immediate halt to all non point-of-sale, non ATM, and non check transactions. And, since this was done recently, I'll ask the bank to put a trace on the aberrant transaction. If they can follow it, I'll authorize them to hand the information off to the proper authorities.

Good luck getting two people to spell it or pronounce it the same way.
There is a W, a couple Y's, a T, maybe an H and a couple of things I'm not even sure what they do.
