Well, we certainly know it ain't visions of sugarplums dancing in Freehold's head.

Unless "sugarplums" is naughty code for something.

I caught that too but didn't comment on it, wasn't sure if that was a phrase from good old NYC I had never heard before or if it was just Freehold being Freehold=)

Well.......... thats not the look i'm going for right before picking up the kid from school:-)

Also how many times in a row is someone naked before Freehold camps out in their front yard with his own popcorn vendor waiting for a nip slip or wardrobe malfunction(like this), at least i have the midwest to use as a terrain hazard:-p

What is this "AC" you speak of? :-P

I swear, the people who built houses in the Bay Area were so enamored of the climate they just couldn't comprehend anyone wanting silly things like insulation, heat, or cooling. "Yah. The house never gets below 50 in the winter, nor over 90 in the summer. Good enough. Let's move on."
(Spoken with a Swedish accent for reasons totally unknown to me.)

Wasting money on actually keeping the house between 65 and 75? Unheard of!

You in the bay area. whereabouts? I am in Martinez

Albany, the little town no one's ever heard of. Just west on 4 a ways, then down 80.

So, since we're derailing anyway (is it possible to derail FAWTL?), might I suggest giving Little Star a chance? It's about a mile closer to the freeway, still on Solano, and I personally prefer it, though, as always, when it comes to pizza, there is no one true way.

thats how i found it, i felt guilty for derailing everything and so needed an outlet for my potential derailing, works like a charm:-p

Ha!

Even if you make it through the fields of Cows, somehow avoid the regional cow chip throwing contest (psst! cow chips are s$+!!), avoid sweet cousin Myrtle, and make it through the corn maze of an anatomically correct (and most likely unrealistically endowed) Brett Favre throwing a football, the Bar on every corner and haze of liberal agenda and patchouli oil downtown will surely be your downfall :-p

see what i mean about the midwest difficult terrain:-p

did i mention the bike trails, as far as the eye can see!! glacier trails even!! and wineries and craft breweries everywhere!!

foolish Freehold, you'll never make it to my place:-p

Mornin' FaWtLeans! I hope everyone is well today, and having a good week. Bright and sunny, if still a little chilly, hereabouts. Rain forecast for this weekend, and ain't a thing wrong with that either. :) House painting almost done, a lick of paint really does spruce the place up.

Please don't lick paint. Especially if it's lead based.

What if it's blueberry based?

I've been licking lead paint for years, the worst that'll happen is Superman can't see through your blood anymore, of course then you gotta worry about Lex Luthor always trying to steal it for some reason :-)

I've been on a kick of watching the Uptown Funk video and have decided to use it as a unit of time. Eating my breakfast bagle takes two Uptown Funks, for example.

I kept wondering who the doopy white guy in the video is and why he's in every shot ruining the thing. Then I realized he's the producer or whatever. Anyway, it's "his" song. Ugh. He should stick to the background -- crowd scenes, etc.

EDIT: So does Bruno Mars really make Sharoth and Drejk want to retire, man?

That's one large bagel. What's in it?

Ah, well, "How are things going?"

An interesting question, for sure...

  • After two months of sheer nightmare at work, my manager is determined to give me some down time. But having been "down" the week of the 7th, then on vacation the week of the 14th, I'm starting to get restless to actually DO stuff again. Lots of little half-day projects keeps the busywork off of other people, but isn't exactly "satisfying". On the other hand, I have ample time to prep for my games and write!
  • As those familiar with my various posts know, we have a friend who is a classic 'problem gamer'. He's a power gamer who insists on special GM permission to get benefits above and beyond anyone else at the table, all couched in, "But it's for my ROLEPLAYING! I'm a ROLEplayer, not a ROLLplayer!" Amazing how his ROLEplaying always requires him to come from noble families and have spell-like abilities unrelated to his species...
So we canceled all campaigns that involved him, and four months later he and his wife are back, BEGGING for a new campaign. Today I'm having my "sit-down" with him to read him the riot act about exactly how THIS campaign will be run. It will be a relief to stop hiding our antipathy towards his gaming style from him. I'm just hoping we're still friends after I've said my piece.
  • On the other hand, Rivoli for my wife's birthday dinner on Friday, and a trip to Yosemite to take pictures of the stars for Impus Minor's science project over the weekend should be very nice.

Anyway, wish me luck on the "hard sit-down". Stomping all over his feelings is necessary, but not something I'm looking forward to. It was kind of sad when I announced a "yellow card" system such that interrupting other players will get you booted from the game for the day. He applauded the idea. Little does he know that every other player refers to it as the "xxxx rule" because so far he's never been able to let a single person finish a monologue. Ever. In 5 years of gaming with him.
He's a classic "man child". There's no way I'm going to get my point across without crushing his fragile little spirit. But there's no way I'm running him in a game unless his boundaries are clearly set beforehand.
And I have to love Shiro's player. The moment I announced the yellow card system, man-child's wife said man-child would be OK with it as long as he saw other people getting punished. Shiro's player cheerfully volunteered to be the first to get booted from a game. Good guy!

I'd buy that for a dollar.

Say, what currency do we use?

I have a brother, every summer he and his boys come out and expect me to run a campaign for them, first thing he says, the very first thing "I'm a Cleric of God!" It only gets worse from there, I'm basically there to provide gore, anytime I inject the actual campaign he gets bored and stabs someone, it gets old

Yep. Thanks for the support. We've been avoiding it for way too long, specifically because he's the emotionally overreactive type (the only man over 40 I know who still has tantrums). But he's killed 3 campaigns already, and now that I'm running a campaign with 4 14-year-olds and 2 11-year-olds and seeing them ALL much better-behaved than him, I know it's time to end all subtlety.

Amen to that. If there's absolutely nothing else I love about living in the south (which there are, a great many other things), it'd be the limited grip winter has on the area.

Rapidly changing weather patterns was the thing I missed most when we were living in Seattle :-)
