Feel free! Many of these games have been on the list for years. I think many people feel bad about asking for things from it, coming off as greedy or somewhat, but I am offering, and they're sitting there doing no one any good otherwise. :)

... alright, I'll bite.

LordSynos wrote:

Seeing as some people have been mentioning Steam recently, I'll just link this here quickly.

Free Steam Games

I've got spare Steam keys to all those games, so just give me a shout if anyone would like any of them.

Notables:
Amnesia, the Bioshock series, the Deus Ex series, the Hitman games, SW:KOTOR 1 & 2, Torchlight 2, Sleeping Dogs, Mass Effect 2, Shadowrun Returns, Valdis Story, Saints Row IV, Just Cause 2, amongst many others.

If you don't mind...?:
Might I request any combination of (but not all of!):

- Any of: KOTOR 2 (and 1... if available, but I've already played it, so not that big a deal...), the Bioshocks, the Deus Exes, MA2, Just Cause 2, Torchlight 2
- Or: Saint's Row, Shadowrun Returns, Valdis Story (I've never heard of this one, but the title's appealing?), Knights of Pen and Paper (similar?)
- Maybe any of: Divinity, Dungeon Defenders, Magicka, either of the X-COMs, Ys Origin

(Roughly categorized into my very, very un-knowledgable perception of vague pseudo-preference*: please, please feel free to disregard, as you think best.)

* For example, I find the name "Valdis Story" and "Knights of Pen and Paper" extremely intriguing... but I've no idea what they actually are. Similarly, I love the world of Shadowrun, hypothetically, but was burned on the last game. Saint's Row I've just... I don't know. I know people love it, but... why? The bottom were all "Hey, I think that maybe I've heard good things about this, perhaps, so maybe-perhaps I'll try it one day, maybe." type games.

Incidentally, what is Dungeon Hearts? I couldn't find it on wikipedia, and it sounds interesting. (There are a lot I don't really know about, but I found easily enough.)

Feel free to choose whatever you think I might like (RPGs tend to take top spot, though things like Legend of Zelda count, and RTS and Tactical games [I think these are RTS games?] are also extremely solid. Mostly a good story, regardless, is what I like best. :D

Just send whatever you think might be a good idea/you think others won't be very sad to miss. Also, feel free to entirely disregard the list above and the order presented: I'm not picky and, as you say, I don't want to be greedy - I'm seriously not asking for all of these! I'm a stay-at-home-dad, after all! Who has that much time?! - it's just that I... just don't have the knowledge to be discerning, hence relying on you to do so for me! XD

((Also, things that let me cheat and/or relatively easily grind for over-leveled stuff (Last Story would be an example of the latter, if you've a Wii) are appreciated. I don't always cheat at games, but if I'm getting more than one, and the main drive is the story, than cheating is t3h win (literally and figuratively). Said limited concentration is the reason things like Sleeping Dogs aren't there. Amnesia isn't there, 'cause I've a wife who isn't fond of horror, and I'd have to play it only when she's not home - when I'm with the kids - or when she's asleep. XD))

Thanks! And God bless you! This is really generous!

EDIT: wraps feathers 'round self.

Ys games are kind of like Zelda but a little harder. Highly recommended.

Not sure why you say that, as far as I know Scint's not a huge Zelda player.

I rate a couple Zelda games - most notably Link to the Past - about on par with Ys. I had a lot of fun with the 2D Zeldas and am working my way (slowly) through Link Between Worlds right now. But they're noticeably easier than the Ys games, which do not play nice with newbies even on the easiest settings.

But yes, I agree 100% when comparing Ys to the 3D Zeldas that Ys games are far and away better.

Valids Story is excellent Castlevania-like game with superb music. I am waiting for third character to be finished and made available.

Yep. I'd forgotten what it was but by the time I got home, looked it up, and went OH IT'S THIS THING I WAS LOOKING AT LIKE A YEAR AGO, Tac had already claimed it =) I'll have to snag it next time it comes available, or buy it myself if the opportunity arises.

Actually, I just read that the next update will contain third and fourth character making the game complete. I would love for more games following but the creators mentioned being exhausted by the game and wishing to start new projects so I don't expect follow up. At least not soon enough.

The only problem with that game is that it's too short. There is supposed to be added a new region with new kind of enemies, though.

Uh, if you've really wanted it for a while, I'd gladly relinquish any sort of claim. I've listed a lot of things there for him to pair down to manageable list... as I don't know the game (despite the neat idea presented here), I won't feel badly about losing it, I don't think... and even if I would, I wouldn't mind losing it to a friend! :D

Basically, guys, presume I've claimed nothing - I just asked about the possibility of stuff, 'cause it looked or sounded neat after a brief run-through of the list! XD

(Uh... actually, I'm pretty sure it's generous of LordSynos... I'm just not getting a free thing, while getting (an) other free thing(s)... but you're welcome, for my non-part in you getting a free thing!) :D

EDIT: ((Also: thanks, LordSynos! Also, also, for the TL;DR for my post about things, I did specify that if anyone specifically wanted something a lot, than it should go to them first! :D))

On top of which, I think the doctors' office had a faulty scale. It clearly said I was 10 pounds heavier than I really am.

You guys believe me, right?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

All doctor's scales are about 10-20 pounds off in the upward direction.

The one at mine put me at 250 the last time I went. I've never weighed more than 230, and more often hover around the 210-220 range.

Insidious!

EDIT: Worth noting that I clocked in at a rather surprising 260 the other day (at a friend's house). First time I'd weighed myself in quite a while - and now I see why! :D

Is it weird that I want to see a picture of all of you, now?

It's probably weird.

(Also: unless you're okay with your personal image on the internet, don't link a picture or anything - this is the internet, not a truly "private" place, after all, as the spammers have shown...)

Anyway, if you do ever see me, just know that I look nothing like my avatar.

That's okay, though, because I'm pretty sure all of you do. Especially Ccaptain Yyesterday.

sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

That scale is clearly reading 20 pounds too heavy..

Oh, you had to bring up the "I didn't realize I didn't initially use caps on my name until the 11th post" thing didn't you, well thanks ... no you're crying!!

Edit: oh sure Orthos posts an actual photo, anyway if you've seen Jesus Christ Superstar, then well Jesus, in fact i regularly get people talking to me on the bus like i'm Jesus (so much so in Seattle in fact i had to institute a "Don't say a damn thing to anyone" policy, which if anything makes it worse......... then don't get me started on my cinema nerd brothers wanting me to be Jesus in whatever stupid idea they have next "Darth Vader vs Jesus" "Jesus Christ P.I." are just two i've turned down due to..... artistic differences:-)

so i much prefer the Eddie Vedder with long hair comparison i also get... and in High School when i had my quasi mohawk (it was shaved on the sides but was much to long to put into an actual mohawk) i'd get compared to the guy from Fishbone which i still find odd because i'm mostly Swedish and Irish......:-p
