Just spent the last two hours talking about philosophy with a local old guy at the gas station. More evidence that supports my theory that my life is turning into an indie film.

Argh. My feet. This surprise birthday party is going to be the death of me. I was running around all day. Now I have to spend the evening pretending I sat on my ass all day, otherwise John will be suspicious.

On the flipside, one of his friends and I spent the afternoon setting up this little party tent to cover the buffet tomorrow. She brought the tent, and we pulled out all the pieces (there were a gajillion), and found that the instructions were missing.

I put it together anyway.

I am a boss.

I sent you some major positive waves today. How did I do this, you ask? You will see in a later post...

Man, he has issues. I am so glad that they are not my issues anymore.

Yikes. I'm sorry man. That's awful. If you want to talk about it, please call. I understand you're under a lot of stress, I'm going to be up for a while, and misery certainly loves company...

The nudity helps.

Meh. It's not that there's anything I need to (or should) do about it. He just tends to make terrible decisions, and it saddens me to see him destroy any of his few friendships that way.

Also, when I decided to throw the party in a friend's garden, I did so because I did not want this party to break the bank.

Well let me tell you... there was some serious sticker shock when I figured out how much I needed to spend on food and drink for 30-35 people. Cripes.

I am crowd-sourcing the appetizers and salads, and I am making all the desserts myself, but this is still hella expensive.

"Yup, you'll get that on these big jobs."

Someday I hope to explain that quote over a drink. :)

Bad news on the Dad front. Dad is back in the ICU, and we don't know why. I recently got back from the hospital, but we are waiting on a zillion tests.

On the bright side, Dad is basically too weak to talk, but when I scolded him for fighting his CPAP he smiled and flipped me off. He's still in that broken shell some where, and he hasn't given up yet. ;)

Take care, all.

I spent lots of time in the evening and night playing Valdis Story. Great platform game. Anyone who liked 2D Castlevanias should consider this.

That's the way of things nowadays, I fear. It's expensive to cater. Painfully so. We may have to start cooking for special events for the day job, and noone is happy about that.

You compare it to Castlevania? That's a HEAVY comparison. I will be reading up on this game intently.

HOLY CRAP.

It's been way, way longer than it's supposed to have taken, but I've FINALLY DONE IT. I've uploaded ALL OF THE PICS!!!

First, to my cliffhanger from yesterday- as Sharoth(and only Sharoth) knows, I HUNG OUT WITH OUR OWN ASHE RAVENHEART/MATTDROZ YESTERDAY!!! Here are the pics of us hanging out, including an embarrassing selfie, a good look at what has become of Otafuku, my favorite(and only) takoyaki restaurant(although I didn't get a good pic of Ashe eating my balls, which for some reason he did not like...), and pics of him pushing the cube, which will seal our friendship forever, as it did with Aeglos and his wife and CH. I need to get the Moores up here to push the cube as well...

Next, a pic of Mom, which is also the pic for her on my phone. I'm not sure if this was her second or third beer, but she certainly drank me under the table...

After that, FINALLY, pics of the bike helmet!!!!!! I've since trimmed the white from the crest in the front of the helmet for a better appearance. A million internets if you're able to figure out where each sticker is from.

DOUBLE FINALLY, PICS FROM THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL!!!

And last, but not least, just make sure I've shared everything, here are pics from last year's NY Renaissance Fair!!!

Finally. FINALLY got everything up.

Sadness -

My older brother, the only one who still lives in Louisiana, regularly let's his boys spend the night at our parent's house. My mom loves it. Unfortunately, my dad's deteriorating mental condition has been creeping out the older boy, so my brother is probably going to stop this practice. My nephew' words were "I want my old gramps back."

So do I kid. So do I.

Scarab Sages

On a happier note, about a week ago I had DVR'd the animated Justice League: The New Frontier. It was one of the early animated movies in the Warner Premiere line. They set it in the 50s, and the look of th characters is very reminiscent of that.

So I watched that last night.

Scarab Sages

Also, I maintain my belief that the writers of children's shows are smoking some really good s#*@. I have now expanded that belief to encompass shows targeting tweens and teenagers.

That new show, Clarence, had me laughing quite a bit the other day. There was a cute ducktales reference, and the kid reminds me of myself at that age. Lots of puberty references.

It's got to especially tough for kids to see their grandparents deteriorate like that.

I am much older, and I know it saddened me quite a lot when I visited my grandmother and she showed no spark of recollection for who I was.

great pics

the Ren Fair is at The Cloister ?

I noticed on your mothers Day pic a banner of "Schöfferhofer Grapefruit" in the background.
I did not know they exported that, it is a yeasty whitebeer (Hefeweizen) mixed with grapefruit juice, made here in Frankfurt, and very popular in germany, only 2%alcohol
I love it, if you can get it you should try it, I guess it would be after your taste

Things are getting worse for my grandfather. His heart rate was spiking last night and his blood oxygen dropped severely so they have him on stabilizing medication and a breathing mask. They're hoping it's just because his heart is being strained by the pneumonia and the medications for it, so hopefully once those are more under control his heart troubles will also back down.

They're planning on doing the biopsy tomorrow, barring further complications, meaning we should know if the mass is cancerous by Wednesday or so. In the meantime he's been moved to ICU.

Congrats! What is next for you?

Looking for a part time job and figuring out what schools to apply for to work on my bachelors degree. I definitely want to do online classes so I can have a flexible schedule so that narrows things down a little. And I need to find scholarships to pay for it. I have too much student loan debt already.
