It looks like I should have lovely weather on Saturday for poutine, ice cream, and general shenanigans with Freehold DM!

And I will be NEKKID!

Sorry, I can't catch up on 5,491 posts, but I hope everyone is doing well!

Holger, I hope the baby is a healthy handful. Congratulations! Diane has been in better touch than I.

Sorry I have been away so long. I have been buried in work, family and activism.

It has been challenging, but it empowers me to help those I care about so I think it's worth it in the long run.

I just closed a project in Corpus Christi TX, and I'm headed to another project in Springerville AZ for a month or so before helping Dad and my sister back in TX. Then I hope to help my daughter and her family get into a new home before I get MY FOURTH GRAND BABY! :)

Diane's youngest daughter is still getting honors marks toward her medical BS, and Diane will get to see her and the beautiful grand daughter soon.

My Dad's health is rough, and my sister is still a saint.

I have a brief window, and I'll be gone again for a while.

Take care all!

I'll check back in if I can. :)

Is there an RPG of that? Because a friend was thinking about running a game of stalker and turning up in full ghillie suit & gas mask to GM.

Fun fact: Stephen King was so deep in his various addictions when he wrote Cujo, he has no recollection of writing the book.

This I knew. He's lucky to have survived his addictions. But I like his writing. Mostly his old stuff. Some of the new stuff has been....meh. Although Joyland was good.

Just watch out that Brian Cox doesn't come along and pistol whip you.

In other news, good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Friday! It's starting off rather chilly, but is supposed to be sunny and in the mid-60s - perfect for a drive to NOLA.

Hey, Farva, what's the name of that restaurant with all the goofy s@@* and cartoon pictures on the walls...

I think I might be one of the few Pathfinder fans who's not really all that blown away by Cheliax.

Sadly, as am I.

And the thing is, I really thought I would be. I prefer devils over demons. The Zhentarium in Forgotten Realms was one of the few things about the setting I liked. I thought a powerful Lawful Evil state run by devil-worshiping cultists should be awesome.

Cheliax... just... really isn't.

I can't exactly figure why.

Honestly, I feel the same way. I think that it's due to my biggest problem with the setting in general--rampant anachronism. It feels like the developers wanted to create about six or seven separate campaign settings with different levels of magic and tech, and with different flavor, and in the end decided to just mash them together into one.

In Cheliax, you get a microcosm of this--elements that work fine on their own, but make no sense mashed together. Contrast with Varisia, which feels a lot more like a unified setting of its own, and has some really original elements that actually make sense in context.

I'm not sure that's it. My own setting is the same way, though slightly less so, and we're a bit more liberal with the timeline so instead of saying "we want to play a game with technology in it, let's go to (this region)", it's "we want to play a game with technology in it, let's fast-forward to (year)".

The various different anachronisms is one of the things I LIKE about Golarion. Not enough to prefer the setting over my own creation, but I still like it.

So I don't think that's it, for me.

Just FWIW/FYI I guess. I can no longer Paizo from work. So my presence here and elsewhere on the forums is going to be greatly reduced.

Probably for the best anyway, as the Ignore Script still hasn't been updated (and I'm not sure it will be, Another_Mage hasn't posted in months and his last post was basically about how he doesn't play PF anymore).

To be fair, I've never really found a published setting that I really liked. The closest I've come was the old d20 World of Conan setting, d20 Thieves' World, or maybe Kingdoms of Kalamar. I'm a fan of having blank spots on the map, I guess.

Scarab Sages

I was okay with Forgotten Realms, and have a lot of material for that world, but as the years wore on it got more silly in my mind. Greyhawk was pretty cool.

My favorite had to be Ravenloft. I really enjoyed that setting.

Scarab Sages

I like the Freeport setting, as well. I like that the city and it's nearby environs are fairly detailed, but the continent is somewhat barebones.

I liked Greyhawk, but I have to wonder if that was due to knowing near-nothing about it. I wonder sometimes if that interest would have waned if I'd taken the time to learn more about the setting.

But yeah, I have to agree. My own setting, thanks to the labors and inventiveness of my friends and I, is probably going to be the favorite place to play from now on.

Which reminds me, I should dedicate some time this weekend to working on some blog posts. I've been wrapped up in so many things I haven't had a chance to work on it since early February.

I've seen a lot of people say they were fans of Golarion more in its 3.5 days, back before all the kinks got worked out. I'm not really aware of what it was like back then, I didn't discover Golarion until they were already on PF (I think I joined the forums when Kingmaker was coming out).

Anyway, I should get to work. See y'all tonight FAWTLfolk.

Scarab Sages

It's gonna be a looooong day. Four hour day in the office, then home, cleaners, gas up truck, back home to pack everyone up and hit the road. It'll be 5+ hours to NOLA. No exact time, since that depends on how well the kidlets handle it. Charlie should be okay - we'll have movies for him to watch. Katie....? Hopefully she'll sleep most of the way.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, best get to it. See you folks on the flip side.

Is that the actor Brian Cox, or the popstar turned physicist and TV-presenter Brian Cox?

I have used the country my players have made in kingmaker to help make the world my own. Well, the players really, but still.

AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! I just realized I missed a spot shaving! The same spot I usually miss! I swear I double checked it!!

I realized when I got to work this morning that I missed my entire face shaving.

(As in, I forgot altogether.) It's not the first time I didn't shave before going to work, but it's the first time it was entirely by accident.

GOD- Okay CH, roll to see if you shave.

CH - OK. *rolls* I got a 3
GOD - You miss. Re roll.
CH- I didn't know that was possible.. *re-rolls* Damn! I got a 2!
GOD- With me, all things are possible. You miss again?
CH- Can I take ten?
GOD - No, you have to roll.
CH- *rolls again* I got a 1? Does this mean I cut my face off or something?
GOD - No, it means you forget to shave completely. Make a will save to see if you forget to wear clothes to work.
CH- I hate this game...

Me too.

I'd prefer a detailed locale and bare bones world, than a fairly detailed world with no specific locales having precise details. As it is my group plays with Freeport as part of Greyhawk.

hi everyone

hi everyone,

Dark Archive

Heyo one and all. Hope you're all having / had / have a great day, and that a wonderful weekend awaits you all. :) Can't wait for mine to start!

Time for Friday evening bacon-and-mushrooms-and-basil cream sauce with pasta. (Stupid store didn't have any farfarelle, so I'll have to go with penne instead. And a carrot for the sake of vegetables.)

Sounds nummy.

Sadly, Fridays are now 'meatless fridays' due to Lent.
I guess I'll have to suffer with a nice tilapia seasoned with lemon pepper and butter. ;P

For lunch?
I guess I'll have to eat leftovers. My homemade Shrimp Gumbo/concoction.
:)

Darn you Kaj.
NOW I'm hungry!
And I have at least an hour before I can eat! :P

Oh well. Back to work.
Seeing as how I actually have some that needs to get done.
:(

Thus endeth the mini-blitz.

Huh. 5 in a row.
New mini-blitz record for the mage?
;)

6 in a row now.

Ok, REALLY going to work this time.
For reals.

Later,

Not that stalker - I referred to this stalker. Sorry to disappoint.
