Literally - getting ready for work this morning and he wife says Katie needs a diaper change. So I bring her in, clean her up, and before I can get the new diaper on she let's loose with a stream of poop (maybe a bit of pee) that hits the carpet, the wall, and some of her brother's toys.
So I had to take some time and clean that up. Used woolite on the carpet, but couldn't vacuum it out because my parents and the boy were all still sleeping.

Drejk you need to watch THIS, THE HONEST TRAILER TO STAR TREK
Cool!
I revile what they did to the Trek universe almost as much as I revile what WotC did to Forgotten Realms. The main difference being I was a big forgotten realms fan and only a mild Trekkie.

I'm renting a truck to help Dad empty out a storage space. Our latest stray is supposed to be moved out tomorrow after over a year. I bought a very modest home thinking it would just be for Diane and I. In the six or so years we have lived there we have either had friends living with us after a badly botched surgery, her two older grand daughters, or other friends living with us. Hopefully this starts a time where we can mostly focus on getting our own lives improved and squared away. I'm a huge fan of helping friends and family, but I'm hoping enough is enough. We are still going to be involved in our kids and grand kids lives, but I hope we can tone it down a bit.
Here in College Station it's very hard to see Dad's deteriorating health every day, but he lives with my sister, and she has been an absolute saint in taking care of Mom until she passed as well as letting Dad live with her and being the primary care taker for all these years since Mom passed. I'm trying to help out with as much as I can while I'm here, and I think I'm doing OK. We are trying to fix some major problems with Dad's old will and finalize a new one as well as reviewing legal instruments like living will, medical POA,, and the DNR order. It's pretty emotionally exhausting, but I really need to help my sister with this load. We've made good progress and hopefully we will finalize all the legal instruments tomorrow. I'm glad that Dad is able to stay at home with my sister, but his physical health is going downhill fast, and we have to face the harsh realities and plan for the inevitable outcome.
Dad has a fairly major procedure on Christmas eve, and I'm glad I'm here to help. Sadly my wife the same procedure before she died of cancer so I'm familiar with it, but it brings back a lot of very hard memories. I'm very very tired, and I feel very old.
On top of all of this we are still providing financial help to Diane's older daughter's family. I detest her older daughter who is a malignant narcissist of the first order, but her daughters are amazingly not totally screwed up, and her boyfriend is a hard worker and decent provider (although obviously not good enough). My daughter is still struggling with medical bills from her oldest son's surgery from when the public school thought it was a good idea to send the 5 year old with the newly broken arm out to play tackle football against the doctor's note he came back to school with. She has never asked me for a penny, but I'm happy to help when I can. Finally, Diane's youngest daughter (who I am very proud of) needs help getting on her feet after leaving an abusive relationship. We are in a position to help her out financially, and I'm happy to do it, but it all adds up.
I rambled enough.
I hope every on is doing well. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hugs, BT. It's a tough time all around, from the sounds of it. Hang in there. We're pulling for you. And feel free to vent anytime.
Thanks! I hope you guys are doing well in spite of our current state government trying to crash the economy.
I hope we can have you guys down to game sometime when I'm back.
Take care!

it saddens me that we disagree on this.

Katie has proven very consistent - at or shortly after 10 pm, she wakes up ready to be entertained. Hence, my Facebook video from last night. I let the wife got to bed and stayed up with baby girl. Next thing I knew it was after midnight and I had to get up in less than 5 hours to get ready for work.

My sister in law got my parents a book about their 50th Anniversary party. It's one of those things you can do yourself over the Internet - supply the pictures, choose the layout and words, have the company print and send you a copy. The wife did something similar for both grandmothers showing Charlie through his first year.
My dad really loved the book. He showed it to me three different times and kept carrying it around the house.

Went to lunch with some of the designers yesterday. It's interesting to see them be careful of what they say around me. I guess they think since I'm an engineer that I'll tattle in then to management, or something. That's sad.
But I've often found that, unfortunately, some engineers do look down on drafters/designers/technicians. That embarrasses me.
