Don't you love showing up at work and discovering you're going to work 3-½ hours longer than normal for about an extra 150 SKr ($23, or £12, or €15+)?
And discovering you're gonna be naked the whole time sure don't help.
How is that in comparison to your normal pay for that amount of time? At here in the US that translates to roughly $6.50/hour - right around minimum wage if I recall correctly, or maybe a little below it. A shaft if you're not a minimum wage job yes, but I don't know what your normal pay rate is.
I'd say it's about half my regular wage. Although it's mostly the not being told beforehand that rankles. We get messages with the papers every day, so it can't be that hard to make sure we know these things in advance.
Ah. Yeah that bites then. Usually overtime here is time and a half pay, not just half.

Cute girls, though.
What is a postkodlotteriet?

Cute girls, though. What is a postkodlotteriet? A nationwide Swedish lottery where you subscribe to take part, and if they draw your postal code (postkod in Swedish), everyone in the neighbourhood who subscribes wins.
Then they go out and film when people get their prizes and show it on TV alongside a local variant of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.

Hooray Half day! I am done at noon and we have warm muffins and good coffee in the breakroom.
Everyone have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Kajehase wrote: SnowJade wrote: Jess Door wrote: Submitted redhead report. Yup, me too. Of course, my hair is gloriously fake, and the public is more inclined to ROFL than persecute me. So where do we find out the results?
It doesn't say. Although the article's writer mentioned in the comments that she'd try to put up a follow-up with the results - I'll keep my peepers open. Mine is naturally red, but I do use chemicals to boost the redness a bit, I must admit. :) I'm also developing this cool little Rogue streak of white hair.
I've never faced any red-headed teasing of any sort. The closest is being called either Orphan Annie or Strawberry Shortcake a lot as a toddler.

This evening I go up to Connecticut for Thanksgiving at my sister's, with my mother in town as well. I am looking forward to it. Also, my mom is baking pies. She is a pie genius, so this is cause for serious celebration.

This afternoon I have to make apple-cranberry stuffing and glazed butternut squash to reheat tomorrow as my contributions.

I also need to peel 5 lbs of potatos, 2 lbs of carrots, and I'm debating whether I do the apple crisp tonight or tomorrow morning. I think tonight is wiser, which means I also have to peel 3 lbs of apples.
that leave the baking of the turkey and making of gravy for tomorrow. I suppose you can include cooking and mashing the potatoes and cooking the carrots for tomorrow too, but those don't take too much.
...
I hope LPM knows how to carve a turkey. I just hack at the thing with a knife until I get the meat I want and call it good. @_@
Ooo, and I wanted to do fresh bread too, that's right!

I hope so! Houston hasn't been as kind to the royal family of FAWTL as I would have hoped, and I'm trying to make it a place they're happy they moved to. :)
I started last night with the pre-meal snacks,
still trying to actually clean the house before I can deal with all the nonsense I have to cook.
Why do they keep coming over to my house for the holidays?
Oh yeah, that's right. Because the wife likes having family over to our house for the holidays. :/
The good news, the father in law is bringing 2 smoked turkeys over for the meal (He never did figure out when too much is enough) :)
The bad news, they'll all expect me to cover most of the rest of the food. Despite the fact that were broke and the wife is out of a job right now. :(
Urgh, be thankful for what I DO have! :/
In case I get buried and forget to post this later,
Happy Thanksgiving every-FaWtL!
:D
I like hosting too. I wanted to cook the whole meal, but if I did that for just me, I'd be eating turkey until it turned green. Ugh. this way, I get to cook, and I don't have to eat it as leftovers for the next 3 months. :)
I really really wanted apple crisp. Not a pumpkin pie person. Hm. shoudl let them know that, in case they are, I suppose.

Dessert is a definite make-ahead. You don't want to be fussing with that tomorrow.

I've been told that there are bars in the West Village where bears tend to congregate. Perhaps I should start there.

I like apple crisp just fine, but I am THE pie person!
:)
Pumpkin pie,
Chocolate pie,
Custard pie,
Pecan Pie,
Apple Pie,
Cheesecake pie, (I know, shaddup) ;P
You can keep your nasty Lemon pies and such. :/

I love lemon pie. I love key lime pie even more. What about blackberry? The pie inquisition is coming for you, Rags.
And DSX, those are abominations.
Can't... stop... .sneezing... augh.
Treppa wrote: I love lemon pie. I love key lime pie even more. What about blackberry? The pie inquisition is coming for you, Rags.

Mmmm. Lemon meringue.
I love all sorts of pie.....
And what exactly is a cheesecake pie? It sounds like something I would love! eyebrow waggle
basically similar to shepherd's pie
I just threw in cheesecake 'pie' because over here it is usually cheesecake baked (or cold, depending upon recipe) into a graham cracker crust, usually in a pie tin. AND it's one of my wife's (And my) favorites. :)
Fruit pies are fine. Inquisition away!
:)
There have been a few (very few) Mince pies that I have found palatable.
The others are fine if you like them, but they are single-dish meals masquerading as PIES!
NOT to be confused with the sugary concoctions that are truly desserts!
(Which I am supposed to be making with sugar substitute, thanks to borderline diabetes.) :P
FIE I say! For holidays only the REAL DEAL will suffice! :D

Lemon Meringue is the bomb.
No, cheesecake must be made in a springform pan!
It's official. The royal family of FAWTL demands pumpkin pie. Since I have to brave the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving anyway, I will also procure some whipped cream and vanilla ice cream.
*blink*
Happy pre-Thanksgiving Day FAWTL
Alas no break for me until Saturday. Such is life in barristaville.
