Dreams again:
Today I dreamed about reading setting book describing some fantasy world. The chapter I remember the most was a story of a party that investigates abandoned settlement and vanished people meets strange small man (I vaguely recall a term dreaming or dreamer used in conjunction with him), disappearance of a girl or woman and then series of encounters with strange, degenerated abominations with traits of white dragons and local beasts some of which deformed to the point of not being able to survive for long after their spawning (they seemed to "infect" beasts and possibly humans like a disease or parasitic larvae and grow within/from the bodies of their hosts). I remember that the party somehow get to believe they have limited time (to the incoming solstice or equinox).
When they finally found the man it was revealed that he is the narrator and also heavily implied that he's a dragon in human form investigating those draconic abominations. He compelled denizens of the abandoned village to leave for their safety instead of malevolent purposes like the party suspected.
Another chapter was devoted to something other - I recall picture and description of a toy airship with hull made of corn cob.

Both are set in the same shared world as Eureka. Alphas was canceled after two seasons (which was a real shame because it was an amazing show) and this current season will be Warehouse 13's last.bummer
I didn't know Alphas shared that setting.
Yeah, in Season 1 Episode 5 "Never Let Me Go", Doctor Vanessa (Artie's "girlfriend" from Warehouse 13) Guest Stars. That was the only link shown, but it makes sense given that both Pete and Steve have strange abilities (in Warehouse 13), which can now more easily be explained as Alpha abilities.
Honestly, although I started watching Warehouse 13 first and didn't even find out about Eureka until Alphas had started (and devoured the first 4 seasons of Eureka in under 6 months once I did find it), I'd have to rank the three shows as Alphas, Eureka then Warehouse 13.
Alphas was brilliant. It was "people with mutant powers" done in a non-comic book way. They're everyday people. Almost every power is nothing major on the pure power scale and they all have downsides to them. There are no "big bad all powerful super villain Alphas" and that was it's biggest draw card in my opinion and what made me love it.

I just saw a discussion on some other forum concerning a Game of Thrones episode that made someone quit the series.
What vexes me is people only see "super happy" and "utter grimdark" as story types. Why do people always ignore the middle ground?
Why can't people remember a story with horrid stuff happening but a good ending being earned in the end, or a good story that goes south as it goes on?

The graduation parties must have been bigger than usual this year - the background noise outside today is like that of a zombie-movie during the part where the protagonists are still wondering where all the people have gotten to.
You've not had a quick trip to Scandinavia during the weekend, have you Zombie?

possibly because the internet has become a taller building to shout your beliefs off of. Complex ideas get whittled down to whatever will fit in the submission box at your preferred website. Even then the cool story bro and tldr memes are something most people want to avoid, so they curtail their statements into bite sized blurbs of encouragement or dismissal, usually with sarcasm or snark as a spice or salve depending.

I do hope they change their mind on alphas- my wife is quite a fan. I enjoyed a lot of the take on powers.

I tend to agree.
I'm also a fan of Lost Girl, but syfy, like most of TV, is a "reality" show littered wasteland for the most part.

What lovely photo's, you can really tell the joy through it. I hope everyone's week has even a shadow of the happiness.
Spent the weekend at the annual Bed-race, followed by a friends birthday BBQ. Thus much fun was had.
In our D&D game, we found a Deck of Many Things; before the GM announced the deck - one player shouted out "I draw 5!". Then she seriously lucked out...

I know that Lost Girl isn't really a top notch show. But somehow I just can't stop watching it. It got it's hooks into me and now won't let go. Plus Kenzi is da bomb! :P

So I just lost two nights in a row of decent sleep because my stupid heart wouldn't stop racing like the cops were right on its tail. Mom thinks I may have the same heart condition she has (and reading up on it is all kinds of fun -_-). So yeah, I'll be having to get into the doctor to have a look at that, and probably go on medication if it comes up positive. Fuuuuuun.

That can be the thing, I am usually slightly... silly when RP'ing. However, I do try and keep "On-Mission", or just set up others for a laugh. Of course my PC is very vanilla compared to some of the others - "I want a Dire Badger mount."
And, hope it's nothing with respect to the doctors. Though most things are eminently treatable.

Mom manages hers with medication. So if it's positive, it'll likely just be another pill I have to take.
Honestly, a clash with the medications I'm already on - one for heartburn/acid reflux, one for allergies, a vitamin-D supplement, and sudafed because my sinus problems have gotten worse since having teeth removal surgery - is what worries me most right now.
