I am trying to analyse the differences between human generated characters versus computer generated characters. I would like your help. I need a database of human generated character ability scores against which I can compare a database of computer generated character ability scores.
If you would like to participate please generate ability scores for three level 1 characters using the 20-point buy method. Please indicate for what race and class the ability scores are intended and to what ability you added the human or half-human racial bonus of +2.

What exactly do you mean by Human or computer generated characters? Characters made with something like PCGen are still Human generated. There's not that much out there that will actually randomly create a full blown character off the bat. WOTC's deceased Character Builder was probably the closest but you still needed a fair amount of human input for the finishing touches.
He's looking for stat lines, and only needs the human generated ones from us. He has some algorythmn for generating stats (I think) and wants to compare the output to what people generate independantly.
Hmm, makes me wonder why your only basing this on the point build option. Using that, you will get typically more average scores overall. My group uses the dice rolls 4D6 drop the lowest x 7 drop the lowest.
Granted theres far more variable results but could potentially bring you several high end or low end values.

That's pretty trivial to calculate, though. Random numbers are easy (for practical purposes, anyway), you program in for each build a "This is the priority of each stat", and then it'll just assign them in order. Much harder is to say "Here's 20 points. Build the best combination." There's 2,985,984 possible stat arrays that can be generated within the point-buy constraints of "between 7 and 18 inclusive". They're going to add up to anywhere from -24 (all 7s) to 102 (all 18s). So you only want to look at the ones that add to 20. There's 76287 of those. Now the question is, which ones are best? Because now you need to make tradeoffs. You can't simply say "put the best value in this stat" because that then lowers other stats...

I very much would like to see this myself. I'll post the list of scores I get. However, at the present moment there are not many participants. I would like to get at least 20 of these but I'm not even close.
