Ah Starcraft ...

No its not.

yes it is ... though that's not the origin of the term, it's just my clearest memory of it (from too many hours playing the game) ... also used in Aliens. Actually it's military jargon, 5 by 5 referring originally to strength of a received radio signal on a 5 point scale.

EDIT: I think 'in the pipe' is a reference to an aircraft being clear for radio tracking for landing, but I could be wrong on that one. Common usage would be along the lines of "all clear and on target".

Wow. I think that this is not even close.

I suppose next you are going to tell us the phrase, "The whole nine yards," refers to 27 feet of ammo used in middle-1900's fighter planes.

Never heard of belts of ammo referred to by length, only round count. Personally, I like the theory of fabric measurement (and then the inherent link to the phrase "dressed to the nines").

Gotta love the evolution of catch phrases. Sometimes they can be traced, sometimes they can't, or end up with multiple possible sources.

Now, if only we knew what the phrase, "Dressed to the nines," means? It is one of life's mysteries; like "Why does the sun rise?"

Normal is overrated.

Normal is a girl screaming in a dark alley and everybody ignoring it.

Normal is precious and scarce when you have to deal with some bonehead who is not normal.

Tensor:

Sad that that is normal where you come from.

Actual definition: Normal: Conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.
Noun: The usual, average, or typical state or condition

the amount needed so I will have ten dollars more than you.

Trust an orc not to know simple math.
Their counting system is one, more, and many.

Dark Archive

Well why bother counting when I need more I take it. Plus coming from someone hypnotised by a large eye desperately in need of Visine you should not be talking.

Nope you are definitely the crazy one. I am just probably equally insane.

Now Charles is certianly less sane than any of us as he is a follow of Tharizdun and wants to destroy all worlds. The man is stone cold crazy.

Five bucks ... but the real question is what form does that five bucks come in? 500 pennies? A fin? Some odd combination of coinage and bill(s)?

If it is a constant difference then I’m calling it a hyperbola.

But I prefer Parabolas, I like stories to have an inner lesson.

Hmm...Simply posting that I win seems to be insufficient to actually guarantee my victory. Perhaps a new tactic is required.

DIBS ON THE WIN!!!!

Okay, I'm getting really determined to win. Therefore, I have created a Doomsday Device. It will post an "I WIN" post on this thread with my username and immediately after (less than 10 nanoseconds after the post is up) trap the world in a singularity, so the moment when my post is the last post will never end.

Oh, and will also do very unpleasant things to each and every one of you, so the suffering for you will also be forever.

You can avoid that fate by not posting anything after.

Come on KaeYoss, hit me with your best shot. I'm not afraid of you.

Or am I?

Yes. Yes, you are.

Can you remember the worst moment of your life? Now that I made it think of it, it seems like it was just 5 minutes ago, but it wasn't. Was it? Maybe it was ages ago and it only feels like recent. Or maybe my Doomsday Device is getting up to speed. Soon, it's every 2 minutes. Then 1. And so on, until it never ends but it starts right again.

It's not too late to save yourself.

Don't think your device is working properly, pal. I'm not recalling the worst moment in my life. In fact, I'm looking forward to the home-made buttermilk biscuits I'm going to be pulling out of the oven in about 5 minutes. Mmmmm, fresh buttermilk biscuits with blackberry jam. Yum.

If your machine makes me feel this way all the time, then I will thank you.

EDIT: FYI, the biscuits were delicious.

Nope. :)

It is morning here, and I am currently sitting at a table with Shaka and enjoying a cup of imported coffee.

You would. If it ever would be 5 minutes later.

Seeing how it was "5 minutes later" 12 hours ago, I still think your doomsday device isn't properly calibrated. Maybe you need to reverse the polarity of the tertiary linear magneto-coil in the schmucks capacitor?

That’s you, drops of water. And you’re on top of the mountain of success.

But one day you start sliding down the mountain and you think wait a minute,
“I’m a mountain top water drop, I don’t belong in this valley, this river,
this little dark ocean with all these drops of water.”

Then, one day it gets hot, and you slowly evaporate into air, way up higher
than any mountain top -- all the way to the heavens.

Then, you understand it was at your lowest you were closest to God.

Life’s a journey that goes round and round, and the end is closest to the
beginning.

So, if it’s change you need, relish the journey.

I prefer to relish the hot dog, and also a little mustard.

I am dreaming of little dark oceans.

Oh... and pizza.
