For 1 grit point, you get 33 gp worth of stuff. Not limited to once a day, so multiple uses are allowed. Maybe only 1 bullet and charge of powder and limit to one use per day.

So any day just chilling around town, you could stockpile or sell all the powder. You could effectively never need to buy ammo or powder.

On the other hand, since bullet and powder cost 11 gold PER SHOT, having access to free ammo is NEEDED.

Which raises another point: Because of the high cost of ammo, Secret Stash is basically a feat tax for the gunslinger.

Personally I do not like that half the gunslinger's deeds require feats, I would prefer they were all rolled into the regular deed list.

I'd agree that a 1/day would make more sense, or increasing the grit to 2 if leaving it at 3 extra shots/day.

As it has been pointed out elsewhere, the gunslinger's ammo is expensive--more expensive than any other class.

We want to playtest this feat as an interesting and thematic way to allow the gunslinger a slight discount on ammunition. We also wanted to make it a hard choice. Grit can be hard to come by and I’m not convinced this is the best use of it.

That said, I’m also not convinced this feat lives exactly as this iteration. I’m very interested in the use of this feat in actual play.

What this feat is not meant to do (and maybe some future version needs to say this explicitly) is method of generating cash during down time.

That’s just silly. For playtests, please treat it as silly. The goal is to make a fun and interesting way to gain extra ammo when the chips are down, or to play an interesting character that seems to keep ammo in strange places.

i keep posting my point but no one has said any thing about it why not let the gunslinger also have crossbows as a option. i see no reason why fluff or other wise this is not a answer to the ammo cost/starting gun/a dm not liking guns problem

how about changing the ammo to improvised (rocks, coins, marbles, anything found in the gunslingers pockets) so that the extra ammo gained isn't used to convert into gold and can only be used by the gunslinger themselves

Honestly I don't see my players abusing this, I do it as a feat tax, as they will spend their downtime scrounging around their inn-rooms looking for ammo they might have stashed (hilarious by the way, I love it). I figure that, since grit refresh every day, players will spend downtime replenishing their stocks, and use their grit on dungeon delves to enhance combat.

Also, this is in no way worse than a spellcaster selling his spells at competitive prices, in fact a wizard or cleric is a much bigger danger.

First off, the bullets aren't very expensive the powder is, secondly I like to think that common shopkeeps would be too afraid of the stuff to want to buy it. Thirdly a magic-item crafter may not be able to make a profit selling his wares, but the half-off will add up to way more gold than this feat would.

Edit* the GM should keep an eye on his players however if they select the Signature Deed feat to make it free

not magic item crafters, spells casters, casting spells for a price, the values for spell casting are in the core rulebook in the equipment section.

My point was unrelated. Think of the thousands of gold saved by characters crafting items useful to the party, that mechanic has been around since D&D 3.0 if not earlier

I think the costs are too high for the bullet and powder. Said that elsewhere. Use the same cost as sling bullets or 5 for 1 sp. And powder should be rare to find, but cheap to make. An exemption to the normal craft rule, and let the player make it for 1 gp of materials. Add a bullet press (20 gp) for characters to make there own bullets. And for powder, a mortar and pestle (artisans tools). I used to make my own blackpowder as a kid until I got flash burned.

I just think the gunslinger should get an ability to craft ammo and gunpowder at a reduced speed and cost. I seriously don't understand why the bullets are so expensive though, compared to sling bullets which are also made of lead. I have no problems with gunpowder being expensive.
