One has the Graveknight...+2 CR lich with armor. The lich...the vampire...the undead dragon and the skeletal champion. All are great but nothing nice and helpful about how to go about obtaining them anymore.
Of course with the vamp you could barter with one to make you vampiric then kill it. Hope somehow he doesnt control you completely once he makes you...IF he makes you and doesnt just double cross you and have lunch on your dime. With the lich types, there used to be an equation back in 3.0 somewhere about the cost of the gem and the spell chance of instant death. Skeletal champion??? Nadda thing except a couple of small notes in the Bestiary. Animate Dead all you want but it doesnt make it a skeletal champion.
Anyone made one or dealt with the process in any of your 4.0 games? For those that have thought on it...care to share?

There are no rules for how to become most of the undead critters. This is because they are meant to be NPC's/Villains for the PC's to face.
There is nothing wrong with choosing to be one however, if your DM allows it, but it'll require alot of working with him to do it.
Basically- ask the DM. Whatever he says is the rule. There is no codified rule on it.

Although these are normally supposed to be for NPCs, there is mention in the "Faction's Guide" that if you join the Whispering Way and do enough work for them, they can be convinced to use unelaborated-on rituals to transform you into an intelligent undead (such as a ghoul, skeletal champion, zombie lord, etc.) or teach you to create a phylactery. Just remember that the Whispering Way is an evil organization and even if your GM allows factions (and assuming your group is using the Golarion setting or importing things from the Golarion setting), many GMs draw the line at PCs joining evil fraternities.

No go on the ogrekin from your other thread, huh?
Honestly dude other than the 1/2 CR races - and even these are generally only available if the GM thinks it'll balance with the party - there's not much you'll find in the bestiaries that's suitable for a PC. It's designed as a resource for DM's to draw NPCs from. The only templates commonly applicable to PCs are the age-based ones.

The templets are easy to obtain. Just go pick a fight with the undead of your liking, and loss the fight.
Your character will then obtain the templet. At which time your DM will then say, hand over your character to me, and roll up a new character.
Then you can fight your old character at some point in the future, while he is under the DM contol.
......
Watch out. Some monster type abilities are countless times more powerful in the hands of players than for NPCs.
I agree. because the undead were never meant to be used a player character. I honestly try not to use Undead, (except Skeleton or Zombies), because they are way over powerful.
Even a single shadow, if played logical, could take down whole citys.

Seperate game altogether. This is the first game that we currently are on. The Ogrekin game doesnt start until Marchish.
