Alie dismisses the pit and Kilian swings his guisarme. Although his form is perfect, Kilian aims in the wrong direction.
Max: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Alie: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Baz: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Baz slumps over, asleep. For 10 minutes.
Kilian also needs a DC 21 Will save or become confused for 10 rounds.
Initiative:
1. Baz
2. Dorianna Ouidda
3. Alie, Max, and Kilian
DO: 24 dmg, shaken 2 rnds
You guys are up!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian does nothing but babble incoherently, clearly badly discomfited by his failure at tripping.
DC 21 Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Confusion effect: 1d100 ⇒ 30
Maximo Interresante |
"Kilian, left! Alie, keep on her! Baz... Wake up! This is no time for a nap!" Maximo's rousing words focus in a powerful response to the Spider's magic, giving Baz a second chance to resist the magic.
Maximo then points at the Spider herself. "You, Lady, should have surrendered. We will not fall to your vile enchantments!"
I'm using Maximo's Saving Finale spell (an immediate action) to give Baz a second save attempt. This ends his bardic performance, but I'm then restarting it on my turn and stepping 5' closer (I'm unable to edit the map at the moment).
Alie Saechel |
Alie casts a Fireball at the general area the Spider is located in.
Damage 7d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 4, 5, 6, 2) = 27
Reflex 19 DC for half damage

Lol, unfortunately Alie and Max also failed their save and only didn't fall asleep before because one person maxes out the HD limit. So I guess the next person falls prey to the spell now. As Max and Alie have an equal number of HD:
1 Max, 2 Alie: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Max ends his performance, jerking Baz back awake just before the tiefling nods off. Unfortunately, his own rousing oratory was the only thing keeping him awake and Max promptly falls over, snoozing on the ground.
Ref: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
As Max takes a nap, Kilian babbles to himself and Alie sets fire to the office, hopefully burning the invisible traitor at the same time!
Initiative:
1. Baz
2. Dorianna Ouidda
3. Alie, Max, and Kilian
DO: 51 dmg, shaken 2 rnds
Baz is up!
Bazresh Izzakesh |
Baz moves up, draws back and fires an arrow at the place where he last was told Dorianna was, while passing judgement on the woman. [/ooc]Judgement of Destruction[/ooc]
Attack, PBS, Bane: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 26
Damage, PBS, Bane, Destruction: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + (4, 6) + 3 = 26
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 77

Baz hears his arrow strike flesh and the party (those who are conscious, that is) hears a thump from the side of the room. A moment later, the unconscious form of Dorianna Ouidda materializes as her invisibility wears off.
Out of combat!
More coming later!

The papers and correspondence scattered about the room all pertain to Ouidda’s position as an elected member of the People’s Council and don’t provide any evidence to her criminal activities or association with the Shadow Lodge. The closet behind the northwest bookshelf, however, holds a trove of damning evidence of all her most illicit dealings, as well as proof of kidnapping in the form of the bound and gagged body of the elderly Osirian sage, Amenopheus.
Among the cramped closet’s crowded shelves are documents relating to years of criminal dealings in Almas and other Andoren cities including Augustana, Oregent, and Carpenden, almost all of which clearly incriminate Ouidda as the crime boss known as the Spider. Bills of sale confirm that she has been heavily and personally involved in the slave trade out of Okeno in the Obari Ocean, and the kidnapping of countless aspiring actors through not only the Captive Audience but also small theaters and traveling circuses throughout southern Avistan. Many of these documents also allude to her role in the Aspis Consortium, though never overtly.
A box of collected correspondence provides equally damaging evidence of her influence within the Shadow Lodge, including extensive letters from cell heads throughout the Inner Sea, including Hondo Heru in Sothis, Caggrigar in Irrisen, Chalfon Dalsine in Oppara, and Kormiggon Sussworth in Kaer Maga, all suggesting they ramp up their assault on the Decemvirate instead of sitting idly by while the Shadow Lodge’s stodgy leader simply amasses contacts and resources in Absalom. Other correspondence indicates she has powerful contacts within the Grand Lodge itself, though they lack signatures or proper nouns, so any evidence is purely speculative. Finally, a letter in elegant script from a person signed only “the Needle” promises that “the Red Mantis will see the assassination through upon the orders of your ally.”
Maximo Interresante |
Maximo raises and eyebrow, which in turn triggers a yawn. "It would seem the spider is just one in a nest of vermin. More immediately concerning is this mention of assassination. The Red Mantis are well known to be quite good at such things, and so their target is in serious danger."
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian nods, a serious expression on the young Andoren's face. "Even if it's not Society business, it's still something my country has to know about. I'll send a message to Major Maldris--maybe he'll know more about it."
He'll do that as soon as he can.

Baz remains quiet, searching the woman and putting a set of manacles on her wrists. "We should take this one to the proper authority. He says while studying the Spider.
