Liberty's Edge

I don't have my Bestiary 2 yet (sigh ...) but I am very interested in the Umbra Dragon.

Can someone give me a bit more info on this monster, like what CR it is, what are the main abilities, where does it typically dwell etc

Thnaks!!!

That's Umbral, not Umbra. Don't make oldtimer Werewolf and Mage players jump you :)

Umbral Dragon is pretty much the Shadow Dragon redux - comes from the Plane of Shadow, has lots of shadow/darkness/death related abilities.

His ecology text in B2 is very short due to the amount of space that dragon statblocks take, so I would advise you to grab a copy of Skeletons of Scarwall where they appeared first, you'll find much more info there.

Umbral Dragon - got it! I just copied the name from the list that was posted ealier in the thread ...

I never played in or read Skeletons of Scarwall so I'm not at all familiar with Umbral Dragons but they sound cool!

What CR are they in the Bestiary 2?

Thanks!

Oh wow - so these are full dragons and statted up like the dragons in the first Bestiary?

Man, I can't wait to get this book!

Yeah, all the new dragons get full age progressions.

They're not "new", just updated to Pathfinder mechanics from their appearance under 3.5 rules in AP volume #11, Skeletons of Scarwall.

Considering the one in SoS took two of my players lvl 12 characters from 100% HP to 4-10% HP in one breath attack ( no possible resistances against negative energy damage is pretty heavy ), handle with care. :p

Answer: Death Ward spell.

Hm. It's always interesting to find out that spells do more than one things. Yeah, as the spell reads:

"The subject is immune to energy drain and any negative energy
effects, including channeled negative energy."

it does seem as if it grants total immunity against an Umbral Dragons breath attack. Interesting. Thanks for the find!
