Trident of Stability = Pogo stick of jumping?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

According to the description this item allows a person to active it's immobility by stepping on it, and it's immobility ends whenever it's no longer being touched by at least one foot.

Which leads me to the conclusion that a character could simply 'jump' through the air, much like a person on a pogo stick only the 'ground' effectively follows them.

So, what creative uses do you have for this unique item?

Where is this weapon coming from? It sounds like an immovable rod.

Magic weapon from the APG, and yes, it cites the rod in it's description.

Reading the description, I can totally see a pogo stick that stops in the air.

So by the items description, I could use 2 Tridents of Stability to climb through the air. Kind of like a Stair Master to the Heavens. So make a Craft check to attach some way of connecting the 2 with a set of offset gear thingies (think the part of the bicycle where you pedal) clamped to 2 different spots along the length and ...

Start stair climbing your way to the stars!!!

And on a related idea, you could add immovable rods to a clockwork construct. Attach the rods to some gearing that would activate the rod only during part of the rotation. As the gear rotates and the rod remains immobile, the construct would move. Then next rod is activated and the first is unactivated holding the construct in place. Now attach the gearing in a safe location, preferably near center mass and if set in a gyroscopic ring set, you could change direction based on controlled input. = magimechanical engineering awesomess
