Aria Delacroix |

Beginning to blush at such kind words, Aria can't help but glow. She was hoping for this kind of bond with both Ninn and Katani. She raised her glass and in return said with a smile,
"to new friendships and sisterhood!"
For the first time since her journey, she began to feel more at home. She knew very well that the bond with these fellow warriors would grow deeper. She knew that they would be the ones to stand with her where others did not. She was proud of the other women who stood at her side. She was proud of her husband and the other gentlemen too. She knew she was in good hands.
She realized something as she gulped down the crimson delight from her cup. She couldn't help but comment,
"Well ladies,I feel terrible for those who tempt us when together in battle."
A shudder went down her spine, as beautiful as Ninn and Katani are, they are not to be taken lightly.

Tristan Delacroix |

Ninn |

Lmao, hmmmm here goes for a drink save~ Fort Save? 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Hehe Ninn is cool and in control of herself so far, and I didn't even need Guidance... yet ;)
As Tristan moved his perky self out of the way Ninn could finally get a good look at Aria, sadly her good intuition didn't prepare her senses for what she saw. Ninn's jaw almost hit the floor, this woman glowed with inner and outer beauty that could tame any man with a mere smile. IF THAT! Perhaps it was the drink but if... No, best she stop there. Ninn recovered herself as quickly as she could. She felt the slight burn of embarrassment deep in her core, because there was no way she could have hidden her shock... especially with that armor Aria was wearing.... hmmm. Tristan is a lucky B@%&$#^...
Ninn in her embarrassment focuses on watching the men-folk go and smiles as they start talking at the bar, she hoped her next drink wasn't spiked with something 'extra'. Her cheeks started to burn as her embarrassment moved upward towards her neck, she maintained her warm smile and tried to shove her emotions back down. Before they caused her further ill! But as each woman began to speak in turn she forgot her struggles and sat stunned by their powerful words.
"I... I am at a loss my dear sisters, and sadly my drink has expired early." 'Yee gods I need another and quick' She raises her empty glass in toast to this newfound sisterhood, even letting slip a short laugh of joy. "May we bring ruin to those who stand against us and lay low any man who seeks to better us without our approval."
With that she sat back in her chair trying to get more comfortable as she adjusted her coat ever so slightly, so it didn't chafe her as much. She sat cross legged, idling playing with the ice in her glass. She smiled and listened to the conversations around her, nodding every now and again but slowly began drifting as darker thoughts took hold. As she pushed the ice around with her slim finger, her eyes became somewhat distant. She started to think about her life thus far, what she needed to accomplish and wondered if she would use these good people for her own ends or merely take the nearest opportunity to vanish whilst they weren't looking.

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani seeing the otherworldly Ninn's drink empty her brow knits with concern and smiling at Aria nods for her to follow suit as she tips her mug pouring half of her drink into Ninn's empty cup, "Fear not sister... we are here to share our strength, our blood and our joys with thee... ye need not ever go without as long as your battle sisters of fortune be at your side...!! Drink of our comaradery!"
Katani's cheeks flush with Aria's supportive words and Ninn's slowly flushing composure and her memories slide back to her blood sister, Naria - how she begged her sister to come with her when she left the for the warm lands of the south in Gare. If only she would have left with Katani...maybe she would be alive now. She had been so frightened of upsetting the elders, to run away with her brazen sister. But Katani's heart quailed with sorrow, she sometimes felt, 'if only she would have stayed her sister would be alive!' She had always defended her with her strength her heart ached with the despair of how she must have suffered, knowing her sister had abandoned her as she died screaming.
Katani had learned months later among the scuttlebutt most adventurers hear in their travels that the 'Redhoof Horse Clan' had been trading in Bledcurst, a trading post on the edge of the Northern Deadlands. It was well outside of their normal trading and Katani was sure her clan the 'Riding Storm Horse clan' would never let them anywhere near the post in such numbers... unless something were amiss. With further, more out of curiosity, investigation she learned to her dread that the 'Redhoves' had raided her clan's 'Holdfast' and taken many prisoners while the 'Riders' were away raiding in the west... her sister had been taken as prize. Katani braved the dangers of the Horse clan and track them down desperate to free her sister... but she arrived at the ruined 'Redhoof' camp too late. From the broken lances and spears left in the aftermath she realized the her clan the 'Riding Storm' had struck and sent the Redhoof to flight.
She found her sister among the dead... impaled through her womanhood upon a sacrifical pole... a grizzly sacrifice to the Redhoof god - Nihilus denoting every man in their clan had filled her with his seed and she was to be offered to their 'gallows lord' as her 'final lover'. As per their custom... she had been 'pierced by their god' alive bleeding out - the pole dark with her blood and putrid with the smell of male seed. The Riding Storm clansmen had not bothered to take down her pierced corpse, not wanting the curse of the destruction god to come down on them. How Katani had wept cradling Naria's dangling feet to her face. Katani had been unable to take her down for a proper burning to set her spirit free... in the cold wastes... and could not tarry lest she share her fate caught by overwhelming numbers should another tribe pass by. It was a shame and personal betrayal her heart had never forgiven herself for.
{NEVER AGAIN, would she abandon a sister...!!!}
The other woman at the table see the darkness of painful memories cross the young Barbarian woman's features... but her eyes fire with a fierce wolf-like determination and she smiles sadly waiting for Ninn to drink with her in her toast... unwilling to let pass this... moment of deepening friendship...

Luc Arkenstol |

GM, I'll presume whatever it is happens smoothly, so I can get back to posting - we can probably finish whatever happens through e-mail or spoilers. If that's fine with you? So I'm skipping forward a little.
With a bit of satisfaction on his face, and a better feeling in his heart at having accomplished something, Luc finds his way back over to the alleyway - but his stomach rumbles in hunger, and he realizes he has only eaten a small meal today. He had rushed to this meeting, with all due haste, and meant to get something after. This was a prime opportunity, but he knew as soon as he entered, their entire purpose was blown.
...They don't understand that. Let them learn.
Luc kept his helmet attached to his belt, and carefully opened the door, appearing normal in all ways - as soon as he stepped in, the entire suit of platemail clinked and clanked, as if announcing his own entrance - and hoped none heard him over the noise already present! He does not intentionally seek anyone out, but he does walk up to the bar, and happens to run into the other two men. He moves to stand at a seat, some two stools down.
"Excuse me, sir, I would like a meal - if you have a wide selection, I'd like to know what you have, otherwise I'll take the standard." He turns to face Tristan and Thral. "Having fun? This is bad for our goal, you know - I couldn't be more obvious."
He hopes they realize what he means, and then actually sits himself down firmly in his seat, and readies himself for a good meal.

Tristan Delacroix |

Tristan glances at Luc's golden platemail and frowns slightly. "We will see if Aria or one of the other ladies has a spell that can conceal your armor and maybe change your appearance. Though there probably isn't anything to do for your mannerisms. You would have to leave and come back other wise the deception won't mean much if everyone sees it."

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth |

---LUC---
The two guards do react as expected, stuttering over themselves upon the mention of your title. As you close the gap between the group of four, you notice these two guards are low-ranking, so their supervisors more than likely failed to tell them that they have higher authority than you. Of course, in this case, its a good thing. [b]"Si...sir!" Both of them snap to attention. "These two halflings here, sir, they were, uh, in the process of being filches, sir! Caught them rifling our pockets when they bumped into us."
The halflings cry in outrage. "Was not! You two big ol' kelunks was bumping into us then got all hurt cause you wasn't watching where you was going! Rifling pockets I wasn't doing. Nor was my brother. Swear on the name Shufflehand, we do!" Out of the four, you gauge the halflings to be telling the truth. After convincing the two guards that you would deftly handle the two halflings, of which they believe you, you let the halflings off, mentioning to them that you believe them. "Oh thank you, sir! We wasn't filching no pockets and we appreciate you stepping up! They was just pushing us around 'cause we was small and they were big shot guardsmen, they was!" The two each reach out and take one of your hands, shaking each. "Thank you, thank you, mister! We'll be sure to tell our Moms and Pops. If you ever need something tailoring, you look our Pops up, you do. Discount just for you. Shufflehand's Surely Something Shop! You come on down and just let us know. We'll let our Pops know, we will!" They wave at you and continue to yell their gratitude as they run down the streets and out of sight. You chuckle to yourself and turn back towards the alley.
---INSIDE---
Nevas smiles at Ninn. [b]"You're traveling with them already, Lady Ninn, and from the sound of your fellow sisters, you've been initiated into their group. Regardless if you feel a kinship with them or not, Karone certainly has brought you together for a reason." Laughing alongside the others as they jest with each other, Nevas nods and shows his gratitude for Thral's refilling of his tankard. A short time into their visit, the tavern doors open and in steps a man dressed in full platemail - a certain Templar. Nevas nods in his general direction as he approaches Thral and Tristan at the bar. "I estimate another of your cabal. Certainly overdressed for the occassion isn't he?"

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani turns with Nevas remark noting the Templar's arrival, raising her voice above the din, her speech just starting to hint at slurring from the amount of mead she has imbibed, "OY!!! 'HARDHEAD'! Grab a tankard, you gold-plated peacock, and come drink with us!!! We girls don't bite... heh... too much! You fought well today... live a little! I'm curious if there's as handsome a meaty interior to to go with that face under all that iron-mongery! Show us your 'Iron' constitution and let us know if your a real 'Man of Steel!"
Her grin is completely sinful...
GREYNEXUS, groans like tired metal harp-strings, [{sigh}...you need a muzzle, you shameless trollop! Are you 'in-heat' again?]
Katani Gafaws in laughter at the annoyed blade. She picks it up in her hands and slides it in and out of its metal sheath slowly very suggestively...
"Awe... what's the matter Nexus... are you lonely? Me thinks you need a bedding worse than I! It must be... 'hard' to be so... 'stiff' all the time and find no... release!"
GREYNEXUS, protests in stuttered tones, [Yo-...ar-...NO-...F-...ny!!!]
Katani roars in laughter at the sword's annoyance, until Nexus quiets down to a grumbling petulance.

Luc Arkenstol |

--- Outside, before entrance. ---
"Will do. Expect me by sometime before I leave the city, boys. Take care."
--- Inside the Tavern, on par ---
Luc manages to get his meal ordered, and a goblet of wine placed before him. He drops a few gold on the counter, and manages to start relaxing - when heresy speaks out and loud, giving him away further than he already did. He sighed, and buried his face in his palm, further in anguish than he was already. He did look to the elf and nodded in turn, but was very distracted by the calls of the harlot at the table.
When his meal is set before him, he begins to eat with all the manners of nobility, actually using a set of silverware that he'd asked for and paid for, and takes his time eating the meal. He savors every last bite, every single one, and rejoices in how his tastebuds scream for more, much like that woman has done with men no doubt. His eyes close, and his body-language relaxes, showing complete comfort and focus on the food his body so desired.
"You boys should try the special. It's luxurious for an establishment in this quarter of the town - and that's a compliment, good man," he points out to the bartender. "I haven't had anything this good in about a month!"

Thral |

Thral smiles ruefully as Katani's silver tongue lashes out at the templar -- metaphorically, of course -- and the golden-armored warrior shakes his head in something like resignment. "Hello, Master Arkenstol. Glad you are able to join us. We're trying to decide where we should begin this mission, but thus far have only agreed that bottoms of empty tankards are a marvelous distraction, as I believe you yourself are implying. For my part, I do not know what it is you are being 'obvious' about, unless the gendarmes in this city are thought ill of, in which case we will make our stay here short so as not to cause trouble. As it stands, I'll let you finish your meal in peace, but if you could join us at the table, Master Nevas there, the elven fellow, may have some advice as he seems to know a bit about what's going on. At the very least the group of us can decide on our next move." The manners he learned while a young court guard and personal escort to a king having been long forgotten by years in the wild, Thral claps Luc hard on the shoulder in a comradely gesture, forgetting that while meant well, it's stil rude to do while someone is eating.
Returning to Tristan's side, Thral leans in to the Dhampir and says "Dour though his mien is, Master Arkenstol has a point. We should at least agree on where we are going to start. There will be time in the future for drunkennes. Heh. I'll see to that!" He then leans in and whispers;
Thral then walks to the table, fresh drinks for everyone. As he hands drinks around, he speaks. "So. Having given the matter some thought, I would propose we take this night to rest and recover and assemble our belongings as necessary, then tomorrow meet at the city gates to strike out for Lake Meronia. I've no desire to tangle with a tower full of mages, such as this Marivelli Tower. What say the rest of you?"

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani smiles in thanks for Thral's return with more drink, but her expression is not lascivious and turns serious and professional at his words.
"Aye, I would feel the same Thral... but if these foolish rabble-rousers are indeed intent upon causing mischief... the most dangerous foe is the one close at hand! If these mages are indeed involved behind ... or at least stirring the rabble up for their own purposes... they are the most dangerous threat! It would do little good to find their training camp in the wilderness only to loose the city because the Rebel's masters and planners were already in the city. We could come back to find our reward of no use if the Mages push forth their plans with none to say them nay.
I could care less for the political issues... but it makes better tactical sense to deal with the potential enemy close at hand rather than chase their lackeys... far a-field, and risk loosing the ones who would pay for our efforts."
"Or do you know more intell on the mater than we do, Thral?"

Thral |

Thral shakes his head. "I've no further inside information, Warrior Katani, but I do know that if the Tower is a suspected source of rebellion, then that means intrigue, teasing out the traitors, and that's something I've no talent for. A camp of rebels, on the other hand, is something my particular skillset is more suited to dealing with. But we've not heard from the others. What say you all? I'll gladly go along with what we all agree is wisest."

Tristan Delacroix |

"If we try to attack a tower of mages head on I would like information on them first. Also I'd rather not run into some magical trap and die before we even find out what's going on. I think we should head to the lake at least to gather more information about them before trying for a school of spellcasters. He says as he takes a small sip of wine.

Ninn |

Ninn focused on Nevas as he spoke, his words caused her to pause, momentarily forgetting her dark thoughts as she listened to his words. As she started to pull herself out of her gloom, she started to think about the gods and how their wills sometimes turn you to other paths. She looked shocked for a moment as Katani suddenly reached over and began pouring her strong mead into Ninn's empty glass. When Aria did the same, Ninn laughed, her finger had been doused and she was sure to get sloshed at this rate.
She toasts again with her now full glass of mixed mead and wine. "To comradery!" With that she drinks down her drink and sets the glass down on the table just in time to listen to Katani harass the golden plated warrior and her talking blade. Ninn couldn't help but chuckle at the whole ordeal. Especially at how uptight the gold plated man was at the bar eating by his lonesome.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 1 = 21
As Thral arrived with new drinks Ninn greated him with a warm smile. She took a swig of her new drink and enjoyed the pleasant feeling of it burning its way down. Setting her drink on the table she listened to the continued conversation's and quirked an eyebrow at the talk of attacking a wizards tower. She leaned back in her chair as she thought about the possible defenses they would run into and how inadequate her spells were with dealing with such magical defenses. She sighed heavily as she began talking, imagining the horrors a school of wizards could unleash on unknowing intruders.
"I agree with Tristan, more then likely their magical defenses will be quite formidable and you will either perish or be driven back long before you cause any real damage. I hate to admit this but even my spells are less then a match for a few wizards, let alone a school of them. If you need a place in the city to stay and hatch this plan, the guild allows me to use of a Flat near the poor side of town. But it is at your disposal and would be a good place to meet without having eyes and ears in every corner.
She took another swig of her drink, she smiled broadly at the thought of how much power she could claim from a wizard tower. Well... So long as she survived...

Luc Arkenstol |

Luc calmly finished his meal, and put everything back where it was - and left a generous tip in accordance with the meal - for it had filled him for the time being, and he put himself back to business. He strode over to the table, and put himself in a comfortable seat - not next to Katani.
He begins to speak in a hushed tone.
"I believe we can do either option - I have a way of communicating with people and bending the laws of this area. If we need to influence someone to further our purposes, then so be it - I can do this. That is my real specialty. Where would you like to start?"

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani looks over at Luc and smiles, somewhat mischievously, but her words are serious, her tones hushed and slowly her mirth subsides that her expression is one of a seasoned mercenary and warrior, "Well Templar... you claim to be of importance here in Ren... what is your opinion as to which is more threatening? Surly you would know the situation better than any of us! From my experience upon the battlefield the Wizards should be the first neutralized... they can change the whole flow of battle should they be allowed a 'free' hand. I don't see how this would be different... but you may know more about the situation... what is your tactical assessment of the most critical threat that the Rebels have at their disposal?"

Thral |

Thral looks at Luc as he approaches, and takes in Katani's words. "I still vote for the lake. It seems better suited to what we have available to us, and perhaps we can make someone there talk and give us info on what underground organizations may exist at the tower here in Ren so we may approach that problem armed with a better understanding of what is involved." He finishes his drink and stands up. "If we're in agreeance, then I will meet you all at the gates in the morning, and we can begin our journey to the lake. In the meantime, I'm going to seek some supplies, and a room for the night."
The half-elf nods to everyone and moves to leave.

Luc Arkenstol |

"What we should do and what we will do are very different things. Had I time, I could acquire documents from my superiors and spearhead the investigation, sending us right where we want them - but time is against us. I will suggest the tower, but yield for the lake if that is what we wish. Just know that it is far more wild out there, and that is another place I am ill-suited for - it's hard to swim in platemail, hm? That said, I can talk to people better than I can talk to trees."
Here Luc catches Katani's smile, but does not seem to acknowledge it - nor does he comment negatively on it. There's something in his stature that's different, more confident. He looks out of place sitting in this tavern, and it clearly shows he's doing his best to maintain his discipline.
"Also, I have no actual connections in here, Katani, except for the Church of Caelum, should they have a shrine or establishment. No no, I am very much on my own with the word of my god behind me as my authority."

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani's eyes follow the Half-elf, hungrily... but she only smiles at him as he leaves keeping her seat.
Then turning back to the others, "Well... Thral seems to have decided... It matters little to me as long as there is pay for the bloodshed... and a good feeding for GREYNEXUS here..."
The softly glowing grim looking Mithril longsword speaks in metallic agreement, [Aye! That we can agree upon...]
Katani continues, "...I'll not deny my battle sisters my fighting skill in battle or fail to support my sword brothers efforts with all my ability... even if I disagree with the chosen target... one is as good as another if their is a strong desire to start outside of Ren... my sword will sing with yours in battle. But now I need a sturdy meal for the morrow... all this drink has made me famished. Thral is correct... I too have some purchases I would like to make... some scrolls to be exact to boulster our spell power available.
Turning to the Sagely Nevas, "Would you perhaps know a good source for purchasable scrolls within the city...Sage Nevas?"

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth |

Nevas nods and suggests a couple good stores to check out in the city: Maerlyn's Magic Emporium and Avalon's Armory are the two he highly suggests. Noticing the amount of time he's already spent at the tavern, he stands up and prepares to leave. Proffering his hand to each of you, he makes his exit. "Thank you for having spent this time with me. It made the day most pleasurable indeed and new friends always make a day even more enjoyable. If there is ever anything you need, feel free to seek me out at the House of Pride Subsidiary. They will know how to contact me." With that, he leaves.
Looking at the time yourselves, you notice it is getting rather late and feel a bit tired. A few of you even feel a bit ... tipsy. Thral manages to find rooms for the each of you for a minimal amount - 3 GP for a room and a bath.

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani will order a filling meal... steak, tubers, more mead and some Cinnamon rolls {she has a sweet tooth for pastries... the Northern Deadlands Barbarians have no such delicacies available to them}! she drinks only mead... apparently she has a taste for the honey brewed drink.
She enjoys the company of her newfound companions... even regaling them all with battle stories of her past adventures...
Katani seems to be a very gregarious soul... she does not have a malicious motive in her petite body. She does not hold grudges as she is laughing a carousing even with Templar Luc, their disagreements seemingly completely forgotten in the face of merrimaking. She flirts... shamelessly so... but it is all in good fun but she NEVER flirts with Tristan in any serious fashion merely playful exuberance... showing deep difference and respect for his wife.. an odd sense of morals that...one might not expect to find in a barbarian...
Talking with her in length leads one to a few conclusions about the fiery Barbarian... she has seen a lot of pain in her life, she has not let her misfortunes dull her zest for life, she is truly deep inside a kind woman who though she may put up the bravado of being a hard as steel mercenary... has a heart of gold. The gold is only of secondary importance to her, it so she doesn't feel silly doing crazily heroic deeds. Getting paid gives her justification for doing things she would eventually do anyways because they were the descent or honorable thing to do. She is a hero in denial. She is a free spirit, not bound by polite ethics or decorum. She speaks her mind... regardless who doesn't like it.
She stays but an hour more then excuses herself. she has purchases to make before all the shops close. She takes a few uneasy steps from the table... she has imbibed quite a bit... yet apparently she can hold her liquor. but she steadies herself and with determined clarity she heads out of the Inn Greynexus resheathed at her side.
Katani makes her way to Maerlyn's Magic Emporium. she spends half her gold on scrolls all 1st circle of power [2x Greese, 2x Mage Armor, 1x Summon Monster I, 1x Unseen Servant, 2x Daze Monster] for a total cost of 200 gold. Katani is NOT a haggler... a price set is a price set... if she cannot afford it... she won't buy... simple as that.
Done with her supplies shopping she makes her way back the Inn... weariness of the day finally getting to her from the day's exertions and battle.

Ninn |

Ninn politely refused the inn room and, after rising from her chair, thanks Thral and bows her head respectfully to Nevas. His insight this night had proved most interesting and strangely thought provoking, it had been a long time indeed since Ninn had enjoyed herself so much. She gave everyone her warm smile as she spoke.
"I will meet you all at the gate in the morning, I have to make... arrangements to ensure my home goes unmolested while I am away."
She waves farewell to everyone as she leaves the bar and traverses the streets to her flat. She needed no light to see in the twilight of the cities dimmed lights, it was a routine for her to walk in the dark. She uses her magic to make herself invisible as she gets into the more... seedier places near her home. As she opens the door to her flat, her magic wears off the moment she opened the door, and she found herself immediately face to face with a pair of large guard dogs... That were growling menacingly, their ears flat and bearing their sharp teeth at her...
Ninn smiles broadly at having been detected again by her boys, with a sharp command the two dogs sit. Panting excitedly at their masters return, they were indeed good dogs but sadly they would not be coming with her on this adventure. She walked in and closed the door sighing heavily as the weight of the day came crashing down, she beckoned the two dogs with an unsteady hand.
Not needing a second bidding the pair come forward and receive a steady petting from their tired master. "I can never get around you two can I? Sadly tomorrow I will be going away and you will be staying with Da..." The moment the word leaves her lips the pair look up at her with lowered ears and sad eyes, it was hard to resist those stares... But she had too, they could not come... it was too dangerous for them.
"Don't give me that look Saber, you too Virgil, I know you hate the noise at Da's but you will go there until I return." She finished giving them both a thorough petting before heading to her bedroom, her flat was an empty place devoid of much furniture and spartan in its function. Her bedroom contained a bed and a simple armchair, the bed she rarely slept in and the Armchair had the permanent imprint of her armor. As she sat back in the armchair, Virgil and Saber curled up at her feet obediently, she adjusted her armored coat and kilt so she would be comfortable and then placed her bonded weapon upon her lap. You could never be too careful...
As she closed her eyes she began to quickly fall asleep. In a couple hours she would awake fully rested as usual and be up early enough to meet her friends at the gate and have ample time to get everything she needed to get done early.

Tristan Delacroix |

Tristan and Aria stay for roughly one more hour. He takes small sips from his glass of wine just finishing it before leaving. He sits quietly for the rest of the time talking just a few times as his mind processes all that had happened this day before leaving and purchasing a room for Aria, Zero, and himself.

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Baring any unexpected happenstances, Katani returns to the inn accepting the room offered by Thral's generosity. She decides she would indeed like that bath. She soaks for almost an hour relaxing in the hot water and cleaning herself of the day's grime.
When she feels weariness threaten to send her to sleep she finishes her bath and heads for her room...
She pauses in front of Thral's Door... considering...
She really does like the powerful, fast, capable Half-Elven warrior, and she does not want to offend him. She has had so many brief flings... and though they were satisfying for the short... everyone of them has not been lasting {some tragically so...} and though she does not admit it... it hurts to be abandoned.
She longs for a man to claim her for his own... not out of domination or raw lust... but for love. Thral is not ready... she knows in her heart of this...
...and walks by without knocking.
In her room her hair clean now it radiant strawberry reddish-blonde is quite vibrant. She brushes her hairs and sharpens her swords...
Greynexus speaks his metallic voice soft for once, [You could have tried ...you know?]
"He's not ready Nexus... and besides {aheh}... it would probably be just a evening fling... my men rarely have little use for my spirited ways..."
[There is nothing wrong with your spirit... mistress... only the hole in your heart you keep trying to fill.]
"You going soft on me now... Nexus'?"
[No mistress. You are a skillful warrior able to endure great hardship... you have never failed me... but some wounds are not on the surface... though they are no less deadly. Your ...well-being is ...practical for me.]
Katani smiled sadly, "Why Nexus... I think you just said you care about me! How sweet!"
Katani kissed the cold mithril blade playfully before leaning Greynexus to her bedpost within reach. The blade went silent.
Finishing up her preparations - organizing her scrolls, polishing her Dark Mithril chain armor; Katani knelt naked upon the room floor, only her dark metal dish of CERELIA upon her breast, and prayed...
”I swear,
To defend the oppressed;
To Honour, CERELIA;
To Serve, With Pride;
“I am Chosen of CERELIA,
Bound to Fate,
Rage shall not blind my Eyes,
From my Duty!”
Dark Goddess... bless me let not my strength fail thee...
in thy service!"
Then the pretty barbarian woman, pulled on her simple night shift a long white cloth peasants chemise and climbed into bed... alone.
The metal Holy symbol warm on her breast.
[Sleep well mistress... I will keep watch...]
"Good night Nex~"
A simple gesture with her {Mage Hand} spell snuffed the candle light in the room.
Then the memories came... as they always do... of battles, of agonizing pain, of soul wrenching pleasure, of loss, of violation, and the laughter of Mad Gods... her tears stained her pillow... eventually she cries herself to sleep.

Thral |

Thral, hearing footsteps pause outside his door, does not rise from bed, but electricity begins to crackle around his right hand, which he aims at the door. His elemental bloodline, conferred on his ancestors who-knew-how-many generations ago by Isaura, blessed him not only with speed and swiftness, but also with the elemental ability to generate lightning from his very body. Not knowing what threats may still be around in Ren, or who may have followed from the Great Hall, he had to be ready.
Fortunately, after just a moment, the footsteps continue on, and Thral lets the lightning subside, arcing back through him and out into the atmosphere. He makes sure his swords are within grasping distance, and sleeps.
The next day he rises, early as always, and after a quick breakfast heads into the city to get some supplies. Most are basic; trail rations, maps, blessed water and the like, but he also stops at the magic shop as directed by Nevas in order to procure a couple more healing potions. "Better safe than sorry." He says to himself.
After making his purchases, Thral heads to the city gates just as the morning sun is clearing the horizon, in order to await his new companions.

Tristan Delacroix |

Tristan curse slightly as the morning sun cuts into his sensitive eyes and he takes out his sunglasses and slips them onto his face cutting the glare slightly.
"By all the deities dead and alive why couldn't we have left at dusk at least then I could see." He mutters to himself as he, Aria, and Zero head towards the gate.

Ninn |

When Ninn awoke she felt completely rested, yet it was still dark. Her flat was cold and quiet like a tomb save for the deep breathing of her two guard dogs. Being swathed in her armor and warm clothing kept the uncomfortable temperature from bothering her as she slowly rose from her chair. She pulled the small blanket from across her legs and went about performing her daily routine. A cold bath, mending her clothes, checking her armor for damage, packing away her few valuables and replenishing her spiritual and arcane strength for the day. The entire process took a few hours and by then dawn was breaking, a sliver of light appearing along the horizon.
With a quick whistle her boys awoke and moved to come alongside her, panting excitedly at the thought of going for a walk. She made haste to her parents home and was greeted by the usual apprentices who were milling around the smithy, getting things tidy and ready for the days work. She smiled and waved as she had worked beside some of them when she was smithing alongside her father. When she finally found her Da he was wide awake as expected. The man was like a fine tuned construct, he was up at the crack of dawn working like a mad man and at midnight he finally retired to his bed.
After seeing her parents for a bit had brightened her mood considerably, but all of that was dashed when she visited the guild and received a scolding for 'randomly deciding to go galvanting off with fool hardy hooligan's'. How she loved her professors.... Old featherdusters that they were... When she finally made her way to the city gates she was full of cold determination.[/i]
"Time to get down to business. I've got a date with a wizard..."

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani awoke, too early. Her dark dreams fading with her night's sleep, though there was only a hint of the coming dawn and fading night in the early sky. She knew it was useless to try to get back to sleep. In the Horse Clans the 'day' always started early... though she had been gone for years... her sleep rhythm had never change her wild, wary, and untamed nature was too ingrained for anything less.
She sighed... 'nothing for it but to get going!' Only when her evenings were 'spiced' with intimate, back-fatiguing, loin-straining, fiery coupling... could she ever sleep late - lost in the warmth of her companions arms... the few that were kindly enough to stay til the dawn. She never... ...'willingly'... sold her body to men nor purchased an evenings love-making with coin... but sometimes that dark part of her heart, she was frightened of and... ashamed of wondered if it would be worth it none-the-less?
Katani pushed such thoughts away from her mind ruefully... knowing their accursed origin... the Clergy of SHALIMAR had worked great harm upon her when she was held in their clutches! The mental scars of her... abuse still deep... much deeper than the still painful brand upon the flesh of her breast... a SHALIMARI Pleasure Slave's Brand. Katani knew the brand did not really 'hurt' anymore... but the memories of her screams of pain and pleasure... still ached her soul... the brand a... poignant reminder.
With determination she got up did her morning exercises and stretches limbering her body up for the day's full menu of conflict. She got a brief luke-warm bath, merely a splash of water left to dry naturally... a morning observance to NITEN the slaughtering lord of battles... the luke-warm water representing a fresh splash of blood to anoint the day's fell deeds.
Greynexus was quiet at her side... his usual in the mornings, merely his simple morning greeting, [Mistress...], and then silence as she made ready for the day's activities.
Dressing rapidly, in armor, and weapons the dawn still at least an hour or more away she went down to the inn's common room to wrangle the staff for some salted jerky, cheese, a crust of hard-tack bread and of course a flagon of mead. The she set off for the main gate... her thoughts dark upon the days conflicts to come. The cool morning dawn almost a... refreshment to the fiery passions in her taciturn heart.
As she makes her way there she spots Thral making his way for the gate as well, 'Good' she thought...,'an early riser...!'
Most of the efficient and worth-a-damn men she had known were early risers... a good sign in her opinion. A fact she filed away in the mental pile of , 'Things I find attractive about Thral...'
Katani fell into stride next to him slowing her pace to not outdistance him. A curt nod of greeting to him her only remark... all business-like for the day. Though there was an appreciative smile on her face that she did not try to hide.
Seeing they were...'alone' at last... Katani's heart skipped a beat and decided not to miss this opportunity... her way always being the aggressive she-wolf...
"Good morning to thee Warrior Thral... did you sleep well last night? I ... came by your room last night... but... you had seemed... unappreciative of my... forwardness yesterday... please accept my apology! I did not mean to offend... but I do find thee... most comely... and would dearly enjoy your... intimate company.
My people are a bold and upfront people... we see something we desire... we are not shy about pursuit of it. Sometimes... I forget my place and fail to ... respect other people's more subtle and different courting mores. My apologies - please... I would...value your friendship and more... but at your pace if... necessary...! Perhaps... you may find something to your... liking when you know me better?"
There was the hint of rare uncertainty in her eyes. She was not used to exposing her feeling so openly to others, but the sincerity of her words for once held no double-meaning. Her innocent honesty showing through.

Ninn |

She gracefully makes her way to the gates and gives a small wave to Aria, Tristan and.... Her movements pause as she finally sees the fascinating creature that is following the pair of undead hunters.[/ooc]
If she could study it...
[i]Realizing how foolish she must look, she quickly coughs into her hand as she tries to appear to have stopped because of a light cough. Then she gives them both a warm smile as she continues towards the gates like nothing had happened at all. She pauses though at seeing who was ahead of her. Katani and Thral standing together Katani obviously saying something that Ninn couldn't hear...
She turned on her heel and moved to walk alongside the undead hunters, near they're fabulous looking specim... pet. She casually watched the creature while paying attention to her new friends.
"Hopefully you don't mind my presence but... I think its best I stay back here. She gives another light musical laugh as she turns away from the pair up ahead so they don't misconstrue her... amusement. Once her laugh had subsided she turns back to the pair of hunters, her golden eyes intense and searching as she says "By the way~ I was wondering if the rest of your group were Hunters? And exactly what type of weapons were you needing to be crafted?

Thral |

Good morning to thee Warrior Thral... did you sleep well last night? I ... came by your room last night... but... you had seemed... unappreciative of my... forwardness yesterday... please accept my apology!
Thral regards the beautiful human. He smiles, and there is no coldness in his eyes, no rejection, just a certain...resignation. "Warrior Katani, it is wonderful to see you. I did not know it was you at my door last night. You flatter me unduly with your attentions. I am certain I am not deserving." As he speaks, Thral takes note of Ninn, Tristan, Aria, and Zero approaching. All that remains is Luc. I hope he will show up today...
Looking back at Katani, he continues; "I am not offended by your ways, merely taken aback. I have long been away from civilization, working with a few companions in the deep woods of Tomo, and as such am unused to any mannerisms not found in that small group. You are indeed quite beautiful, a marvelous, er,'specimen', and a powerful warrior. I am glad to have you fighting at my side. But as to your other...needs...I fear I cannot currently satisfy them. You see, I am a Journeyman of Þannig vindur, the sacred martial art of my people, the Way of Wind, and the blood of Isaura runs in my blood. As a Journeyman, I must remain chaste for ten years; I may take no spouse, and lay with no one, until that time is done. I have four years left as a Journeyman, then I may return to take the tests, and if I pass I will be a master and may seek my own fortune wherever..." at this he claps his hand on Katani's shoulder in a comradely gesture, "...or with whomever that may be. So please. Take no offense at my demurrals, I do not think ill of you or your ways, as I said, I am glad to be in your company. As we adventure together and learn more, who knows what bonds may arise. But as I respect your ways, I ask that you respect mine. I must complete my term as Journeyman, or fully half of my life will have been wasted." He smiles warmly at the northlander, inclining his head. He then turns to greet the rest of the group, or at least those that have arrived. "Tristan and Zero, Aria, Ninn; excellent to see you all. Any word from our Templar friend?"

Luc Arkenstol |

"You mean myself, am I right?"
The Templar walks out into plain sight from the town proper, his armor gleaming in the sunlight of the morn - it is a sight to behold, and he looks very much the part with all of the dawn behind him. He walks forth still, clinking ever so lightly with every movement he made. His tabard willowed around him, the cloth fitted yet loose. There was a smile on his face, and from here he lifted his hand into the air as he finished his approach.
"My fellow adventurers, before us today is a grand goal. We seek to find the resistance against our society, and uproot them, crushing their hopes of evil deeds before they can ever begin." Here he clasps his fist, and pulls down on air. "With all of our combined might, we shall persevere, and force them to know that they have sinned - and their repentance is death, as is with all heretics and those guilty of treason."
Here he looks to Katani, and nods. "For the time, your trespasses against myself and the city's laws are gone - but this is my only offering of mercy to you, warrior. I do not tolerate the undoing of the order established in this land, and neither does Caelum - else why would I be here? Consider this a truce, until further wrongs!" It's here he grins, and moves to his next topic.
He looks over the rest of the group, and gives a hard stare, as if judging them one last time. He moves to be next to the gates, and draws his blade - pointing it up into the sky, where the sunlight catches the blue steel, and casts a great glare, something brilliant and awe-inspiring.
"In the name of my savior, I shall see the task through - through hardships and blood, it will happen, and I shall endure. Let us be off!"

Ninn |

Ninn had been scowling for a moment at the high blown Templar's stance but for the life of her she could not stifle the laugh that erupted from the drunkards comments.
"Continue sleepwalking my good man and quickly before you attract to much attention to yourself. She smiles warmly at Luc and waves a hand trying to encourage him to continue. "You had me at 'hardships' but you got interrupted, please continue. This is quite fascinating." It is then she gives Luc a good natured wink and a broad smile, hoping he doesn't get too angry with her.

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Looking back at Katani, he continues; "I am not offended by your ways, merely taken aback. I have long been away from civilization, working with a few companions in the deep woods of Tomo, and as such am unused to any mannerisms not found in that small group. He then turns to greet the rest of the group, or at least those that have arrived. "Tristan and Zero, Aria, Ninn; excellent to see you all. Any word from our Templar friend?"
Katani's eyes widened in... wonder at the dedication and ...personal willpower it would take to believe in something so strongly, {What do I believe in?} - she asked herself, {...nothing.} she had to answer truthfully... devotion to serve is not the same as belief... CERELIA 'Choose' her... no faith was required. Whether she believed or not was also of no consequence... she was a tool of the Dark Goddess, for the Dark Deities' own purposes. CERELIA would do as she willed with Katani... and no amount of her resistance would change what the Dark Goddess had chosen for her fate. {10 YEARS!!! Even still, 4 Years remaining...!!!)
Katani doubted she would live to the end of the next month... how violent and cruel her life was... Thral's dedication marveled her and ...admiration grew in her heart even more... even as cold despair gripped her in its icy dark clutches... Thral would make that 4 years... she was SURE of it... but she would likely be dead by then ...on some forgotten battlefield somewhere... unmourned and unknown... the fodder for carrion birds and jackals...
Thral was out of her league and she knew it... he... deserved... better than her...
At his gentle touch she felt desire... a burning longing filled her heart... knowing she would never possess so... great a man... and she leaned her cheek tenderly against his hand her eyes turning sad and her hands taking his affectionately.
To thrall ... she looked ...vulnerable for the first time in his short acquaintance with her, her pretty face etched with pain.. and longing her eyes watering slightly.
Her voice cracked a little, "You have a Noble and Dedicated heart, Valorous Thral... I have no doubt you will make... a great master! Of course you must achieve greatness first... I would do you no dishonor to hinder or ruin your noble endeavor... Follow your dream... you will make... some... heart beat with joy... ere you accomplish your mastery! I... envy... your faith and belief..."
She turns seeing the others approaching and takes a respectful step away from Thral turning to hide her tears that she quickly dries...
{Get a hold of your self you stupid strumpet! A night owl can look upon the sun and be blinded by its glory... and yet not slain... so can you... your fate is already sealed... best get on with it... Your life ... and death are not meant for... happiness... NITTEN awaits...}
Katani gathers her dignity about her fighting down the swell of her emotions until the cold warrior is all that remains... 'The Stormrider...'
At Luc's words Katani stiffens, {...that's right...remember... you are not meant for love and happiness ...you are just a red killer, a mercenary ... a tool of destruction - nothing more... NEVER forget that fool!!!}
Katani replies her tone cold and non-commital, "As long a Ren has gold to hire my sword... then we have no quarrel... What care I for political disputes? None have ever done me any good or changed for the better my life one wit... all is blood, steel, death and survivors... Might as well have gold to enjoy what time I have left... lead on..."

Ninn |

Ninn is taken aback for a moment as she approaches and see's how much Katani had changed since last night, had the templar's word stung her so? Ninn hides her emotions well behind her veneer of friendliness, as she looks to the templar showing the whites of her teeth as she smiles broadly. She would one day cure the corruption within part of this city, but today she would try and right this dour mood that clings to her newest comrade like a shroud.
Approaching Katani from the side Ninn attempts to sneak in and bump into her with her shoulder, to distract her from whatever . Str check 1d20 ⇒ 13 Her attempt wasn't perfectly executed as Katani proved to have to much corded muscle for Ninn to push her over easily. Ninn gives the other woman a sly wink.
"I should have attempted knocking you over last night, perhaps it would have left less bruising... and would have been way more fun." Ninn rubs her shoulder mockingly, all the while she continues to smile at Katani speaking quietly in the words of purest light to her gifted sister, whilst rolling her eyes in the direction of the golden armored templar.
"I fihh ruht zuo yu zuon funtl haly ciwry, al I elgqelvy zuo fihh sel. Ib zuo celelt aczyricw I fihh tu sz pelly yu relhq."

Ninn |

Zero's massive head pushing against her side cause Ninn to wheeze for a moment as she was distracted talking to Katani. She turns to look at Zero for a moment and without hesitation strokes the creatures head affectionately. As she pets the strange creature she smiles at Tristan roguishly.
"I would ask where you got such a wonderful creature but i'm sure its a trade secret you aren't willing to share~
She hasn't ignored Katani, its just so darn hard not to be distracted by this group varied abilities and... Pets. Her mind reeled with the possibilities that this group of individuals presented and needless to say they show great promise in helping her accomplish her goals...

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani turns slowly toward Ninn - indeed she is petite to the towering celestial blood beauty her corded body hardened by numerous battles her expression not changing... but her eyes softening and a slight sad smile dawns upon her face...
"Indeed... some... sisterly company would have been... appreciated last night... forgive me for not seeking you out..."
Katani slides an arm around Ninn's delicate waist under her armored coat and, shakes her head slightly casting her eyes longingly at Thral she whispers in return hugging her tall friend to her gently and briefly.
"Frz ...telan lilyeln anel ahh yrel wuut selc ...lu uoy ub nelavr?"

Luc Arkenstol |

Luc frowns lightly at her response. Her mood shifted like the waves of the sea, and that brought too much chaos for him to bear willingly. He had offered her, in a way, peace between them, but her change of emotion was too quick to warrant any real response other than him acknowledging it. So he moved on- but he took careful note of the language spoken before him, and noted it mentally.
They still do not understand.
The Templar turns to his newfound companions, and sheathes his blade - having paid no mind to the beggar - and nods.
"Let us be off, before Katani's mood infects us all." That, was his jest, and he would leave it at that with a smile.

Tristan Delacroix |

Tristan smiles slightly at Ninn's question about Zero. "No there is really no secret about how I got him. His mother was killed and I found him as a new born and raised him. He was the only childhood companion I had my mother wouldn't allow me around children was afraid I'd bite them."
He says with a small sad smile that brightens slightly as he thinks about his present situation with Aria. While Ninn is distracted Zero bumps both her and Katani demanding more attention with a loud purr.

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani smirks and chuckles grimly at Luc's words... ironically amused. When the great hunting cat, Zero, rubs against her purring loudly, Katani's expression changed suddenly and something akin to excitement lights in her pretty green eyes. She turns to the great cat ... very pensively to pet 'Zero' affectionately. When she realizes the Great Cat will let her touch it she vigorously runs her fingers through its fur kneeling to put her arms around him joyfully.
Remarking, "Ohhhh.....Tristan! He's ...beautiful...!!!"
Her eyes lighting with joy at being able to pet the magnificent hunting cat... apparently ...she really wanted to do this since first she saw the amazing Zero.

Ninn |

Ninn gives Katani a sad look for a moment and hugs her close in return, she understood somewhat why the warrior was so different today. She runs a hand through Katani's hair delicately, her duty to Soleil and now these people would tax her greatly in the coming days. Hopefully she had the strength... She had spent to long alone and now had to face the reality of more complex companionship
"Eljelc I tu cuy xcuf yrel aclfeln yu yray ucel, lilyeln. Poy yrelnel anel uyreln yricwl ic yril funht yray pnicw raqqicelll."
Even I do not know the answer to that one, sister. But there are other things in this world that bring happiness.
When Katani moves away and starts to pet Zero happily, Ninn smiles and puts a hand on her hip as she watches. {I would take two of these cats if I could find where they dwell, a fine specimen indeed}. She gives a laugh having heard the templar's joke and winks at him before turning back to look at Tristan.
"Alas then, so I must climb the great mountains and traverse the many valleys to find such beautiful creatures... She snaps her fingers and 'tsk's' for a moment before smiling broadly and giving Zero a through scratching under the chin. " An adventure for another time I suppose. Although I don't envy your position, even without magic I see this one getting spoiled indeed." After another moment she readjusts her pack and quiver as she readies herself for the journey ahead. {It would have been nice to take all of my boys but... they wouldn't have survived outside the city...}

Katani 'Stormrider' |

Katani gives 'Zero' on last big hug burying her face in his fur and smiling at the loud purring she inspires.
Then standing walks up besides Thral, "...may I see your maps?"
Glancing at them... very briefly, the petite barbarian woman looks out toward the terrain outside the gates... getting her bearings quickly.
Katani smiles briefly at Thral, then starts out at a swift pace ahead of the party ...seemingly very certain as to where she is going.

Ninn |

Ninn quirks a smile as Katani rises up, looking almost refreshed, after burying her face in Zero's fur for the last time. Ninn gave Zero another quick scratching under the chin and around his ear's before moving to follow. She kept close to the warrior woman, as she perused Thral's map's, it was good to see this improvement and hopefully it would hold true. As Katani moves off, looking very confident in her direction, Ninn smile's more broadly and follows after her while maintaining a casual pace.
"I must admit that I have never left the city before, although it is exciting to think about moving about the country. Perhaps some will be in need of Soleil's grace?" She gives a small chuckle, as they starting walking beneath the great city gates and as they got closer to the other side it was plain to see the awe struck look in her eyes. As she looked upon what lie beyond the gates for the first time...
{The things I get myself into....} She gives a nervous laugh, her musical voice echoing beneath the great city gates.

Tristan Delacroix |

When Katani moves away and starts to pet Zero happily, Ninn smiles and puts a hand on her hip as she watches. {I would take two of these cats if I could find where they dwell, a fine specimen indeed}. Ronin you saw this right? We now have the beginnings of our first side quest tell the rebels to wait we are going tiger finding.
As Tristan walks he talks with his wife in a low voice to quiet to hear. Though you hear something about covers and stealing them all.
