Ravenath, you're not out! You're welcome to rejoin. Five players is no particular problem and we'd love to have you. I figured with the holidays that things just got busy. If you'd like, I'll add you into the scene now.
Beckett, I'm addin you in as well. Check out the game thread, please.
If you don't mind, I'll have you both together, as it will make things easier.

Wait, so we have two real clerics, a witch with the healing hex and cure on his spell list, a ranger(who has cure on his list so can use a wand until he picks it up), and a rogue who was going to pick up UMD next level so he could help with that stuff? I believe the quote from 8-bit theater would be 'Four white mages? That will never work!'
Happy to have both of you aboard.

DM:
It looks like they are doing some sort of game, so I was thinking that if they asked him why he was here he could show how home he was a pawn but adventuring he could become a king and do the little street magic type reveal with one of the pieces.
My question was- I have the Power of Suggestion trait, which lets me make a bluff check to convince someone briefly that an object I hold is actually a different but similar item. I also obviously have sleight of hand and the different types of pieces are available to me so I could do a literal swap as well. I was curious which method you would prefer I use in such situations, mostly because I can see Jansen using these tactics in front of other people than just the team.
As far as the actual rules go, Power of Suggestion is bluff vs a set DC of 20(25 if I try and fake it as a something significantly different), while sleight of hand would be opposed and could be easier or much more difficult(especially against wisdom heavy characters).

I wanted to put up a quick apology. I was going to be traveling from sunday night to monday night, I thought it was going to be short enough that it wouldn't even be noticed since I'd be posting again within 24 hours. However, my flight home got canceled and I was stuck across country without my laptop(due to the perceived shortness of the trip).
I just got back in now and am going to be catching up on posts and putting up my own.
Thanks for your patience.

Bummer. Well, we're down to three players, so I'll throw this out: do we want to recruit for a new player? Also, do we want to put it out via the Gamer Connection thread or does anyone have a recommendation?

I'd say go ahead and recruit via the Gamer Connection thread. Give it a few days. I'm sure you'd get a few nibbles!!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Okay gentlemen, we have several candidates. I'd like your input. Here they go:
Durant: Monk of the Four Winds
Me'Mori: Halsanna Firdraes, Crossbowman
Me'Mori: Ianthé Jack, Magus
Plinke: Wizard or Bard
TarkXT: Caithan Kalson, Sorcerer
We have three players now, and three applicants. We can take anywhere from 1-3. What do you think?

Jansen Sable |

It is a pretty hard choice to make. We can certainly use a bit of Arcane powers. I think that Caithan had quite an interesting backstory and I don't doubt that Ghorum would appreciate having a little extra frontline help like could be provided with the Magus.
I'd be fine with us picking up 3 people if it wasn't too much for you. Having a full party does a lot to give us more to play off of among each other and can keep posts more steady since there will always be someone saying something.

Ghorum Kraak |

I like the idea of an arcane caster, too. As Ghorum rises in levels, I aim to make him a threshing machine with two dwarven waraxes (ranger combat feats don't require prereqs!!), so a sidekick to help buff him would be immensely helpful with that.
For party size, I'd think that five is manageable. Rav and I are in another PbP with four, and we've managed a round a day (excluding weekends). Not too shabby. Obviously real life intervenes frequently, so I don't have any illusions about this game.
I'll reread the submissions, and cast one more vote. For me, the Sorcerer gets my vote, as I agree with Jansen's comments. Jansens flanking ability will come in handy, and Kromoro is our healer (and butt-kicker!). The Magus might be a worthy addition, rounding out the casting, but I also like the idea of a ranged combatant damaging opponents before Ghorum can engage in melee.
Just my 2 cents...

Caithan Kalson |

I promise you won't regret this...much.
Though tbh Caithan's less of a "kill them from a distance" guy and more of a "I'm sry mister fighter it appears they all fell down asleep/blinded/compelled to give me money/madly in love with my pants before you ever got there" guy.
Anyway I just need some character creation guidelines and I'll be good to go.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Characters begin at 2st level
25 Point Buy for Attributes
Max HP at first level, roll or average at 2nd (I don't mind which you do, but once you've chosen, you're stuck with that choice.)
Any race or class from Core or APG accepted.
Any alignment except evil is appropriate.
Go ahead and start with 500 gp as your starting gold. I expect treasure will be flowing soon...

Jansen Sable |

Looking forward to seeing you all in the game once you are set up. I think we're going to have a pretty good party.
As for where you are going to be joining us, I don't think you are going to have any trouble teaming up with us if you're willing to help. We're definitely ready to take whatever we can get.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Caithan,
Deadlines make DM dull boy. Your PC looks good. I'll probably write a post introducing you and Ianthe over this weekend. Till then, hang tight and posting will improve next week.
James

TarkXT |

I think the problem with that idea is a combination of his personality and the circumstances by which he traveled here and the fact your character's female. If I didn't try to rob you, bed you, or both I'll outright avoid you. He's been fleeing pursuit and hasn't stopped in three towns dragging behind him a stolen donkey with no money, bad food, and a bad mood.

Caithan Kalson |

He's just messing around. Caithan's laying the innuendo on thick enough that they can feel his libido from across town. However a proper retort is required.
In other news I do hope theres a lot more than undead to this campaign. My fey blooded self and his many enchantment spells feel rather limp when against that.
"Ah, master dwarf! You seem to have mistaken me for some adventuring hero. Helping those in need is more in the realm of great paladins or starstone bound heroes. No, I speak of the simple pleasures that are found at getting to the bottom of one's glass through a fine vintage, or of a delightful conversation during a walk through the countryside, or sharing a warm bed with pleasant company.
No, master dwarf, there is no pleasure helping those in need for they often have little to give but meager belongings and jst as often are agry for ever being in your debt. I could go on but I am not a man to bore the subjects of my attention with frivolous and dull speeches about the way of the universe and the definition of need."
