Demonskar Ball question

Ok, when during chapter 3 did you run the ball? Before the characters go to the Lucky Monkey? It seems like after they go there, things move along quickly. The other choice I think is placing it at the very end of chapter 3. Run the ball as a bridge between 3 and 4?

I put the Demonskar Ball/Flood Festival before travelling to the Lucky Monkey. I.e., the rain only really started coming down towards the end of the Flood Festival.

Did you use the demonskar Ball supplemental thingy, on RPGenius? I want to play out the ball like that does, just not sure when i should do it, because it says they are contacted by Jenya during, but before the end of the festival...Hmmm..

I used the bits and pieces that tickled my fancy. :-)

You can place the Ball where-ever you like before, during or after the adventure. I actually played it after the floods were averted bt any questions you have about the adventure, character etc feel free to ask.

The party got their invitations the day after they returned from the Kopru Ruins. They had asked Lord Vhalantru to hook them up, and he made sure they were invited. The Stormblades also helped, wanting a chance to show them up. The Last Laugh also took the opportunity to ambush the party and kidnap the Shackleborn character after they left the ball, since they couldn't wear their armor and all their gear to the ball.

Did they make any friends on the night?

Is Orbius going to pay the captured character a visit?

Any funny scenes during the dancing against the Stormblades?

How did they take the whole buildup with costumes, dancing and etiquette lessons etc

What awards did they receive at the end of the evening?

Were you able to foreshadow many of Cauldron's personalities?

The Bluecrater Academy dropout got her illusions professor to dress up their carriage and horses to look like a nightmare-drawn abyssal coach, since the party was dressed up as demons.

Meerthan got an eyeful of them during the dinner, and made sure to contact them in private the next day. The elven Shackleborn fighter, Amras, managed to flub his Balance check on the bone devil stilts trying to impress the Lady Ophelia.

Vhalantru was played up Tony Stark-style, as a massive drunk. (Party nicknamed him Lord Drinks-A-Lot.) Alek's faux pas was noticed, as well as his less than diplomatic manners. Embril was met in passing.

The party had a blast with the costumes, especially Ti'al the catfolk monk, dressed up as a succubus and being completely unhindered by the lack of weapons and armor. They only managed to receive the Star of Valour at the end, although Ti'al managed to pull off an untrained performance of the Song of Heaven that tied Anna for the competition.

Orbius did show up to check on Amras after he was kidnapped. The kidnapping went flawlessly after he charged into the middle of the LL thugs, cutting him off from the party when Jil Death Attacked him and then Dimension Doored him away. Following the rescue, Meerthan supplied the regenerate scroll after Bishop Regidin cast Break Enchantment.

Overall the players had a blast. They loved the herald's two-face costume, and got to hear a lot of the history of the region, which will come into play soon. The timing kind of left them little time for lessons, but Lord Vhalantru was a big help in locating a tutor for them.

I also didn't manage the dances as well as I could have, but I'll do better next time. Gotta work on the description of the actual dances so it's not just all dice rolling. The sniping with the Stormblades was amusing, but the poisoning of the food went kind of flat. They just sort of passed on the tainted plates. The ambush at the end of the night was a nice way to end the session, with Orbius dropping a few tidbits the party gobbled up. A great addition to the story, and I look forward to the next time I get to run it.

While I have your attention, I could totally use anything you've gotten written on the final replacement adventures.

Sounds like a great time. My party particularly liked the snobby Bradly-Dippenshires. They invested a great deal of time in lessons to prepare for the event and enjoyed the dance off where one of my players decided to lay a huge wet kiss on Cora which completely disconcerted the normally feisty redhead.

One of my character was completely smitten by Celeste and another decided she would like to give Todd a long painful death.

The drunken half-orc at the table provided plenty of chest pounding also and the test of strength outside was very amuzing when the manure poured all over one of the characters.

They loved the whole feel of the night and the roleplay in particular.

Too bad I don't have another group to run this through with but I'm glad to hear you enjoyed running your group through the adventure as well.

My group is establishing a not so friendly rivalry with the stormblades. One character is a noble, so he is keeping the rest of the group from open hostilities, but I am playing the Stormblades as real self centered, pompous asses.

They got their invitations at the end of the last session, We are breaking until after the New Year, so i will have plenty of time for prep.

Looking forward to running this. Thanks for sharing all your cool work and ideas DD.
