The lizard shrieks in pain as the greatsword bites into its side, but manages to stay up.

Here is the MAP.

Valletin is up.

male human Inquisitor lv2

Valletin draws his bow and shoots the lizard

to hit 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
to wound 1d8 ⇒ 3

Valletin lines up the arrow with the creature, but second guesses the shot as Harold moves in front of the lizard. The arrow hits the floor mere inches away from it.

Re-post initiative for new page. Korganna is up.

Initiatives:
Harold 22
Valletin 22
Korganna 16
Gandel 14
Murro 14
Lizard 11

Gandel steps up next to Harold and slashes at the lizard with his new silver shortsword.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Male Human Fey Blooded Sorcerer / 1

Murro peers around Valletin and frowns. [b]"These beasts are wasting our time." He extends two fingers, focuses his will and fires yet another Ray of Frost.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Silvered weapons take a -1 on damage rolls, I'll adjust accordingly. I always forget about that rule.

Actually, I already factored that into my damage roll. Gandel has a 12 Strength, so normally his damage with a shortsword would be 1d4+1; I just left off the '+1' to account for the -1 caused by the silvered weapon.

Ah ha! Good one. Thanks for pointing that out.

Sorry for the wait, was seeing if Korganna was going to post. I will DMPC her this round.

Korganna steps forward swinging her flail over her head and brining it down on the stone floor next to the lizard. Gandel then tries to sneak in a stab with his new silver shortsword, but the lizard evades as it jumps from the crashing flail. From the back, Murro launches a ray of pure ice which hits the puddle on the ground, freezing it momentarily.

Flail Att 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Reflex Save again Harold. Same DC. Damage 1d8 ⇒ 3

The lizard lets off another shock at Harold in its excitement then scurries over to the corner of the room.

Please use the damage and save DC from above. Harold, Korganna and Gandel all get AoO's against the lizard.

Gandel takes a swipe at the electrified lizard as it scurries away.

AoO Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
AoO Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

EDIT: Nice hit, crappy damage!

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17.

By now expecting the lizard's 'shocking' method of attack, Harold this time manages to dodge away from the worst of the electricity arc, only getting slightly singed...

As the lizard attempts to retreat, he lashes out with his sword, attempting to spit the creature on the end of his blade!

AoO, MW Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26.
Confirmation Roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21, for 4d6 + 18 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 6) + 18 = 33.

A palpable hit! :-)

With that kind of hit and damage, I think you gutted it, filleted it, de-boned it, and served it up on a platter with a fancy garnish!

I personally don't think there is anything left of the poor shocker lizard :)

As the lizard attempts to flee, Gandel nicks it in the leg slowing it enough that Harold's greatsword chops it cleanly in half, scattering its entrails across the wet floor.

150xp a piece.

Nodding in satisfaction at the lizard's demise, Harold returns to searching the room.

Take 20 Perception = 22.

"I say chaps, would you mind if we rested for an hour or two, before we tackle the next door? That lizard knocked the wind out of my sails..."

Nothing special turns up in the search of the room.

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

In that case...

Harold returns to the 'stuck' door, and attempts to force it open...

Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21.

If that does not work, he wll eventually just take 20 = 24

Eventually Harold's efforts pay off and the door opens revealing the central staircase to the tower. The stairs down have been reduced to rubble, but the way up is still intact.

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

Harold regards the staircase quizzically for a moment, before shrugging, and turning to the others.

"Well then, shall we continue?"

He then begins to carefully climb the staircase...

male human Inquisitor lv2

"I agree, we have spent too much time here" Valletin adds, before going behind Harold up the stairs

Yeah, sorry guys I was sick as a dog thursday-monday...sorry I held you up

No problem, I should have DMPC'd you earlier. Welcome back.

"You want Korganna go first? Korganna have no problem going first...More destruction that way."

Korganna stands there obsessively picking little bits out of the wall.

"Come on, Murro. Guess we should catch up with the others before we miss all of the fun," Gandel says to his sorcerous companion as he begins to climb the stairs to follow Harold, Valletin, and Korganna.

Male Human Fey Blooded Sorcerer / 1

Murro nods and follows along, keeping an eye out for any trouble along the way.

We got hit by a bad ice storm with rolling blackouts and I have been watching my daughter, so I haven’t had much computer time the last few days. I will be picking back up very soon though.

As you ascend the stairs you finally come to another door. The stairs also keep going up from that point.

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

"I think we should explore this place level by level... I hate the idea of leaving unexplored territory behind me."

So saying, Harold will try to open the door...

If it is stuck like the last one was, he will take his time to force it open... Str check = 24.

As Harold rams his shoulder into the door, he realizes it is actually locked.

"Want Korganna open lock? Korganna pick lock good." As she hefts her flail.

male human Inquisitor lv2

"Korganna, maybe we should let Gandel try first?"

Valletin Ra'ul wrote:
"Korganna, maybe we should let Gandel try first?"

"Korganna be convinced to acquiesce. Korganna like Gandel, he not make Korganna feel like freak." Korganna's orcish sentence structure makes you forget she is intelligent, until she uses a 10 platinum word.

"Happy to oblige there, luv!" Gandel exclaims, hopping up the steps past Korganna, Valletin, and Harold.

The plucky halfling examines the door carefully before fishing into his belt pouch and retrieving a couple of tools which he promptly inserts into the locking mechanism.

Perception (to locate traps - just in case!): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Disable Device check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

"Nope, lady and gentlemen, this one's beyond Ol' Gandel," the halfling says with a grimace as he puts his tools back into their pouch. "Korgie, luv, I think this one's gonna require your expertise."

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

Gandel, you can 'Take 20' on Disable Device checks to open locks, if you so choose; just not other types of 'Disable Device' checks :-)

As such, with two minutes work, you can hit a 29 :-D

D'oh! Yes, let's take 20 on the Disable Device check. As Harold pointed out, that gives Gandel a 29 to open the lock. Thanks!

Sorry for the wait guys. Got extremely busy and had to give up my Council of Thieves game I was running. If you can bear with me, I will have something up today.

Gandel's lock-picking attempt is successful.

Who would like to open the door?

pats Gandel on the head.

"Good job Gandel, Korganna approve!"

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

I imagine Korganna would like to, but if she does not, Harold will happily open the door :-)

Harold Wainright wrote:

Korganna mostly likes being first through....open it up and she can charge thru...heh

As you enter the room you see two stone altars, one black and one white, sit at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two troglodytes lie on the floor in the center of the room.

Knowledge (religion) DC 10

Spoiler:
This room is a temple dedicated to Nethys, the god of magic, in both of his aspects: protection and destruction. The writings on the walls are quotes from Nethys’s holy book.

Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16.

Stepping cautiously into the room behind Korganna, his sword at the ready, Harold surprises himself by recognising the iconography of the room.

A temple to Nethys? Interesting...

Keeping one eye on the flash-fried troglodyte corpses he comments:

"Let's be careful. Gandel? Would you mind checking to see if there is some sort of trap near where those bodies are? I would prefer to not be cooked..."

Korganna looks a bit disappointed in the lack of enemies to challenge.

"Korganna not like this, not enough enemy."

male human Inquisitor lv2

knowledge (religion) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

"I wouldn't let your guard go down just because you can't see the enemy, this is a shrine to a god of magic after all, our enemy may not use standard or even fair ways to fight us Korganna"

Male Human Fey Blooded Sorcerer / 1

Murro moves to where he can look into the room without actually stepping into it and casts detect magic, studying everything he can see carefully.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Harold Wainright wrote:

"Aye-aye, Cap'n!" Gandel says, saluting smartly has he moves into the room and begins to (carefully!) sweep it for traps.

Taking 20 on search, so Perception check = 27.

As all of you make your way further into the room, you notice a flickering orange light at the other end of the chamber. Two skeletons, bathed in flame, move toward you wielding rusty old scimitars.

The skeletons move forward with menacing flames dancing all around them. One approaches Murro swiping at him with its scimitar, striking the doorway in the process.

Anyone starting their turn adjacent to a skeleton takes 1d6 ⇒ 2 damage.

Harold grimaces slightly as he is lightly grilled by the skeleton's flaming aura, but nonetheless brings his sword around in a mighty swing...
