Vahn Hawkwing |

I'd say you and Atia in the middle Jan in front, Alan flanking, and me in the back.
Initiative:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Knowledge nature see what they are.1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Attack1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage1d8 ⇒ 2
Awesome...also add 1 to attack and damage if 30ft or closer.

Shaundakul DM |

No need for a knowledge check. You all recognize an orc when you see one
Orc Initiative = 1d20 ⇒ 15
Battle order:
Atia, Jan, Tulip, Orcs, Onsal, Vahn, Alanthian
Let's try to post somewhat in order. In other words, all those who would go prior to the orcs post, and then I'l post, and then the others post. Vahn, you can choose to use the action you posted prior or do something else depending on what happens.

Is there a map or anything for us to try and Co-ordinate?

Tulip Weatherhollow |

This is the first time I've run a PbP. Do you have any recomendations as to how or where I could post a map for use on this?
Maptools is a really popular mapping program for PbP DMs. Others simply make a simple design using a spreadsheet and colored cells or something along those lines. Either way, one of the popular places to post maps is on Photobucket or to a Google Site.
If a map isn't available, distance between us and the attacking orcs would be necessary. Tulip can't choose an action until she knows how much range she's got to deal with.

Agreed, Maptools is great. There are even tutorials online for you to watch where you see what the guy is doing and he says what buttons he presses for what functions. You can increase player's size, reduce them and ect.
There are a lot of items and stuff you can download for images like tables, trees and other generic things. It's fun to give it a little play around and see what you can do with what you can learn from the tutorials. As I found it's most clear with the grid and co-ordinates laid out so that the players can say things like "I move to E6 and strike at the goblin in D6" so that it's obvious to the DM where the player's are going and then use a image site to post up the pictures of the map so far and things.

Jan Whetstone |

Looks good. You can even take our avatars to make tokens too, though I'm sure you'll see that in one of the lessons I linked to you.
"Ya, green-skinned bastards! Ye shall suffer the axe of Jan Whetstone!" he shouts charging at the Orc and striking out at him with the axe head.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Charging Orc 2 at E6, arriving at E7.

Brother Onsal |

Here's my first attempt. Let me know if you have a problem with the order I placed the party in.
Just a small one. I posted that Onsal was 'lagging behind Tulip'. SO he should probably be in the back.
In other news, curse these orcs and their lack of a Dex penalty....in fact, my roll should have been lower. I forget to include the encumbrance penalty, though it fortunately makes no difference in this case. :P
Atia Moon |

Atia casts Mage armor and moves to E17
Atia's eyes widen in fear as she takes a step back before taking a steadying breath and begins to run calculations eyeing the orcs like a snake.
"Lady Atia, ehmm may I please eat their eyes when we are done? I love eyes and rarely do I get to eat any and corn is oh so plain!" Echo says to Atia while perched on her shoulder hopping from foot to foot in excitement.

Shaundakul DM |

I moved Onsal back one square. We will assume Atia was in the square he was in, since she will still have the space for the move she made.
Jan's attack missed.
Orc 1 snarls, moves to D6 and swings his great axe.
To hit:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Dmg 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Orc 2 laughs as Jan's blow slices just passes, and swing back.
To hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Dmg 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Orc 3 Screams in a rage and charges Alan moving to G13.
To hit:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Dmg1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Shaundakul DM |

Vahn Hawkwing |

Seeing Jan collapse under two powerful axes and Alan barely avoid a nasty hit as well Vahn puts an arrow to his bow and draws back on the bow string muscles tensing releases the string just as he reaches his cheek.
Attack1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Damage1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attacking the Orc in front of Alan using point blank shot.

Alanthian Darlok |

Alanthian takes a five foot step from G14 to H13 and swings with his two short swords at the orc that charged him.
Attack Main Hand:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Attack Off Hand:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage Main: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage Off Hand: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Will you subtract the Orcs AC for the charge? I did not add to my attack.

Tulip Weatherhollow |

Horrified at the way the orcs attacked Jan, Tulip begins to move back, her hands raised up in front of her, trying not to scream with terror. Then she stops and the fear in her face lessens, replaced with a trace of anger. She puts her hands out and softly but firmly says one word. "No."
A ray of flame leaps from her fingers toward the orc confronting Alan.
This is assuming, of course, that the orc is still alive.
Move to K17. Ranged Touch Attack with Elemental Ray (Fire):
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Brother Onsal |

Onsal moves to E14 and, pulling out his holy symbol of Erastil, shouts, "Erastil! Heal all it is in your great power to do so! And you who mean us harm, I warn you, do not approach!"
His healing magic expended, he readies his spear against a charge.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4 That heals all (including Alan's orc)but the other two foes.
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 What has history told about orc raiding strategies?
Attack: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (20) - 3 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Do I see any other orcs?
Damage: 2d6 - 3 ⇒ (2, 1) - 3 = 0
EDIT: Ooh!
Confirm crit: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4
So....not a crit.
And an attack of opportunity if they keep going:
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Dang. Oh well.
So, basically, I channel energy, then brace my spear against a charge (dealing double damage). The attack is just in case. I also try and bluff them into thinking I'm a threat they may want to avoid, and try and find some tactical info. Sorry my action is so complicated.

Brother Onsal |

Brother Onsal wrote:Technically it's a standard action to ready a spear against a charge, which he cannot do until the following round since he channeled during this one. Hopefully that'll help Jan though, the poor dwarf. His healing magic expended, he readies his spear against a charge.
Really? I couldn't find the action for readying an action. Taking your word for it, though. We'll just use the first roll for my attack of opportunity, it's the same damage either way.

Tulip Weatherhollow |

Okay, this action will replace the previous one.
As the orcs surround Jan and his blood flies into the air, Tulip stifles a scream. Her first instinct is to run and keep running until she's back at her family's familiar farmstead. But then she imagines her father's disappointment at her cowardice.
The nearer orc's collapse helped Tulip to gather her courage. Instead of fleeing, she begins moving cautiously toward Jan, extending her arms with her fingers pointed at the orcs surrounding him.
"Leave him alone," she whispers. Then fire leaps from her fingertips to strike at one of the orcs.
Tulip moves to E12 and uses her Elemental attack. As before, she strikes AC 19 for a measly 2 points of fire damage.

Atia Moon |

Atia takes five cautious steps towards Tulip. She quickly pulls out her cross bow with a warrior's steady hand. Her brow quivers for a moment and she mentally locks on to one of the orcs. She stands ready for whatever little trick those brutes had up their sleeve. Her gaze shifts towards Vahn to make sure he was alright then back over to Tulip with concern for her fellow comrade. Seeing the distress Tulip was in with the whole ordeal, she inquired of her:
"Tulip, how are you hanging in there?"
Atia steps down to F:17, Draws crossbow

Shaundakul DM |

Vahn Hawkwing |

Onsal, me, then Alan
Vahn forgoing his bow drops it and moves up to the orc nearest Onsal drawing his greatsword as he moves. Using his momentum he swings the sword down starting at the orcs right shoulder.
Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage:2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Move to F:12 drawing greatsword as part of my move action. Attacking orc in H:11.
Awesome roll max damage on an 8 :(

Alanthian Darlok |

5 Foot step to I12.
Attack Main Hand:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Confirm Crit:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage Main: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Critical Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack Off Hand:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage Off Hand:1d6 ⇒ 6
Alanthian eyes the advancing orc looking for a weakness in its defense. He finally sees a flaw in the orc's stance and with the speed of years of training, moves to take advantage of it.

Brother Onsal |

Onsal smiles at the orc before him and pulls out a small weight of gold. "Tell you what," he says to the orc. "You let me pass to heal my friend, and I give you this nice trinket. Otherwise, I just might lose it." he gestures towards the nearby bushes. "Hate for you to have to spend hours searching."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
That's one of my gold weights. It is worth fifty gold pieces.

Shaundakul DM |

Brother Onsal |

Orc 2 falls with the blows from Alan swords. Vahn's swing fall wide of orc 1. Orc 1 screams in rage at the sight of the other orc falling, and looks in confusion at Onsal's offer, but does not budge.
Alan give me another 1d20.
Dang, that's a stubborn orc...
