At least you have most of the work done already, just a change in wordage and variables ;). Its an easy start anyway and the only thing we really need to worry about at first will be skills and gear that helps said skills of course, other then that you still have time for the rest of it. No rush i presume.

@ DM

Just so you know tomorrow I may not be able to post as often as i have these last few days. Got a doctors appointment my wife and I have to go to. Its a 6 hour round trip drive so ya.... most of the day will be spent away. So by all means take control of Kai if you need to, as is your right anyway lol xD.

@ Just for fun:

Liberty's Edge

I also understand most people have other things and never once would expect someone to be always on the boards and ready to go. :)

So far nothing requiring you to post has even happened, so it's all good.

You can always retcon something if I skip over you timewise, i.e. You can fill in what you had planned or tried to do and then catch back up in the story. As long as it doesn't break too much it'll be OK.

I'll try to be accommodating to everyone as best i can.

Liberty's Edge

I enjoy'd how you all took roles on the ship so easily, kudos team. That's worth some XP in my book, and i will add that to the running score once a major event happens.

Female Halfling Druid 3

Willpower, I was wondering if you had Lords of Madness: The Book of Aberrations? There are a few feats in that book that could easily build off the "shifted slightly in form" part of the Deep One trait.

Yay for being ship-shape! Yay for nautical puns!

I haven't used it much, but do in fact own that one. So if you want to use a feat from there I'm sure i can look it up and make sure it fits.

Posted this in the IC thread, lucky I caught it in time to move it here:

The rest of the NPCs on board, and what you know of them thus far:
I'm assuming in 2 weeks everyone has had the chance to meet with them, hence the names provided, most are in the cloths they left with and what little supplies they can muster.

Current Crew:
1. Nafa, a Kobold - who has claimed the crows nest as it's home and can be seen all throughout the day scanning the horizon, almost obsessed, it only comes down to eat or fish.
2. Wuvie, a male Half Elf
3. Aka, a female Human
4. Vaesm, male Lizardfolk (Not a member of Kai's tribe, all others are.)
5. Avdaene, a female Drow
6. Eiwia, a female Aquatic Elf
7. Adie, female Wild Elf

Other People:
8. Grunge, male Gnoll, saved a Circle Magi by using his silk animated rope.
9. Smupeap, male ogre
10. Neatua, female aquatic elf
11. Upushoa, female hobgoblin
12. Ivoue, female orc
13. Opseaka, female gnome
14. Eithire, female aquatic elf, wears robes of the circle of magi order, was saved by Grunge at the last second. A sorcerer who seems to have been losing her power.
15. Ieste, female halfling
16. Gellied, male gnome
17. Checea, female elf
18. Iwashe, female goblin
19. Teari, female gnoll
20. Weas, male hobgoblin
21. Eapie, female lizardfolk
22. Weathan, male lizardfolk
23. Veraga, female lizardfolk
24. Cev, male halfling
25. Iela, female aquatic elf
26. Emma, female gray elf
27. Faed, male gnome
28. Oh'vade, male gnoll
29. Iesoagu, male half-elf
30. Coutha, female tiefling
31. Ulu, male aasimar
32. Gunny, male(teenager) elf
33. Garth, Half-Dragon (silver)
34. Stonecold, male Goliath
35. C.P., male Ratling
36. "Butterscotch", Female catfolk
37. Blue Eye, ? Kuo-Toa
38. Gurt, male Minotaur
39. Tina, female Pixie
40. Grex, male Half-Drow
41. Tobias, male Human
42. Greta, female aasimar
43. Vulpa, female Human
44. Hamish, male Human, stocky, barrel chested warrior type. Like to complain about the Gnolls, but leaves them alone if possible. Insists on wearing his breastplate even if it means possibly drowning if he goes overboard.
45. Jaylend, male human, farmer by trade, seems fairly happy to be tending to what livestock is aboard.
46. Kripya Human Female, stays to herself, prefers to stay below deck and out of the way.

whew that was a lot to type....

I'm finding myself strangely drawn to plotting out their relationships as well, and made flow charts to document which couples are with who, who lost loved ones, which characters are mad at who/and why. What an undertaking! I'm usually last minute, wing it guy, but this is fun for me too so far.

Hope everyone gets into the game as I unroll more stuff.

Female Halfling Druid 3

Why are there only two other halflings? Cev must be so happy, being the only male halfling on the ship! ;)

The feat Aberration Blood can make me more fish-like(Webbed Hands and later on Bulging Eyes), and if I decide to take Starspawn(need Aberration Blood and one other aberration feat, most likely Inhuman Vision in case I need to make emergency night-time repairs), I can be a flying fish!

EDIT: Yay for all the grappling hook love!

Male River Spirit Druid 3

Great. Fixed skills so they are 3,5 instead of Pathfinder.

Actually I think Olek is ready for play now.

Oh there is one thing, can you stat up his manta ray, Lijin, for me, Will?

And Will, will we ever get to use more than 1st lvl spells, should I already delete them from my spell-list or just leave them there, knowing I can't use them yet, but maybe later?

@Nerine - I assume you and I were part of the same Wave, both of us being Deep Ones. Do you have any thoughts on that, or should we not mind that at all.

Female Halfling Druid 3

I'm fine with us being part of the same Wave. I'm also regretting choosing the honorific I did, but we'll just ignore the innuendo...

For the spells, I kinda just hand-waved having all of mine, since we had two-weeks on the ship before the actual game started... but Willpower could say otherwise. Hehe.

I do suggest we keep the fact we still have our spells a secret, except maybe from the Captain.

Lizardfolk

Very awesome there DM, its always fun once you get into figuring out more about your npc and creating stories about them. Very awesome array of personalities and skill types so far, i'm loving it =)

So looks like i share my little cabin i have with more of my tribesman *as much as they can fit* that shall prove interesting.

I agree with Nerine in the one halfling male that is very funny or should i feel sorry for the fellow? we'll probably never know.

Hamish strikes me as a noblemen for some reason, i can picture him with a monocle. Why? Don't ask xD just my crazy mind at work. Also a handlebar mustache...

Anyway's *Dumps out the rest of his caffeinated beverage*

I like it and i'll be stealing it for further reference if you don't mind ;)

I assume Garth the half dragon is male xD nice to have a half dragon on board. Aerial reconnaissance, very nice.

So we have an obsessed kobold lookout, several waterborne types who can survive either on land or sea, and aerial scouting. XD

Male River Spirit Druid 3

About keeping our spells a relative secret, good idea.

@Willpower, I see the "garden" cabin as the same environment as the part of the ship where Jaylend tends the lifestock, and maybe as a semi-cooperative effort. Do you have any other plans for Kripya, or can she be my botanical assistant who tends to the flowers and plants, when I am not there. Her personality does not seem to be far from that of Olek's.

I'd be a jerk DM to limit you to level 1 spells the whole game. But as of right now, that's all you got. And I'm not saying more ;)

Ask Kripya in game later, might be fun roleplaying that. After the storm anyway.

I had a chuckle at Garth, yes he is male. I was about to say no boobs...but as a reptile, if he was a 'she' it still wouldn't have boobs would it? Damn my limited reptile to D&D logic, I will have to research if lizards have boobs now before bed.

edit: wow OK that was fast, females do not have them, and tend to be a bit taller than the men too. Wiki has EVERYTHING!

Was the spell-casting traits all background traits only? Still kicking around ideas for which character class. I thought about going for range but he has a very open amount of paths he can take.

You can pick it up later in the game if you multi into one. they are not first level only. The game changed enough from conception to start that it's all good if you want one later.

Spells: Druids, like clerics, 'know' all spells, but cannot seem to generate the power to go above 1st level spells. However, at the start of the game I did say if you memorized spells before hand (and why wouldn't you?) you may cast them once the game starts, the only draw back is you can't re-memorize them once they are cast.

You may keep them on your sheet for now, or until you really need them.

Weird, the Races of Dragons book has a female half-dragon reading, and I swear she had boobs. I had never imagined them to have them, so it stuck out.

Still trying to choose between making a trait or taking another feat...

This was in regards to higher than 1st level spells though. you can't use the feats I provided to cast 2+.

Much cheers to you and yours! (^_^)

What's that, Set Your Controls For The Heart Of The Sun?

And yes, I had planned to. I don't think any of the avatars available fit my char, and I can't find easy instructions for loading my own, even if I had an image that was suitable.

So I just made the ring part of my character.

And my most recent post, everyone, is not intended as a crisis point - a passerby saving Kyre might be useful conversation starter, but if no-one cares to go with that she'll recover herself.

...and on an entirely different, technical note - why will the boards not take my Kyre Sannah alias as my default alias? Every time I'm on I set Kyre as the default, and each time a log back in it's been reset as Justiciar Te.

Okay 2 things one I think I'm gonna have to take shipwright as a skill to help Kai he's got me stuck on the idea of what we can do to upgrade the ship like masts projectin foreward and out so we can lay more sail area out there are ships like that irl

Two can I make one of the lizardfolk cause if finns big but dies I want to make a poisondusk lizardfolk as my second I was thinking bout what else I would want to be while you were reviewing the runescared thing

I lied there's three third I'm planing on a few more lvls of fighter or maybe wander into ranger for a few lvls then hitting runescared beserker

Then heck if I know maybe cleric?? Rogue?? Sailor??

I don't mind what skill you take, once your legally allowed to take it. The game is live so no skill swapping at this point. But once you get more skill points go nuts.

You may not take over my npcs, they have been named and statted up already. Most of them use the DMGs npc classes so you probably wouldn't want to be one of them anyway. I think out 2-3 at most have an equal if not higher ECL than you guys, mostly due to their racial HD.

It's not a huge deal, plus I never got around to posting it so you couldn't have known. I meant to earlier but it slipped my mind.

If I can get everyone posting the same styles it'll help me out a ton though.

So thanks for humoring me.

Zahara, who also posted interest in the 1st thread, is going to start soon.

So before I go further in plot, I'll wait for her to start.

She asked about it last minute and while I originally denied a new player, I did post she could play and I emailed her today to see if she was still interested.

She is.

So I'll work her into the ship now, and once I have her character approved she can jump in. For now you have +1 crew member bringing the totals to 46. Not counting the heroes.

I was waiting a bit on the new char, but if I don't hear from her soon I'll go on without her.

I'd like to point out the storm is no closer than it was when I first mentioned it. However, I'm a dastardly deceptive DM in delivering hidden messages and misdirection. So maybe that will help with what is to come.

Wiat? does this mean we'll run aground then be run over by the storm...?

'Cause, yeah, that would be dastardly. ;P

Na what would be dastardly is running aground on a Zaratan's back, then it'll carry us unknowingly into the storm. Get struck by lightning say "foop this i'm out!" and dive into the ocean. Now not only are we sinking but theres waves and friggen lightning.

Come on if drowning wasn't enough we're getting struck by lightnning! >xD
10 monsters i use in every campaign and 5 i don't [this isn't mine but its kinda funny =)]

Ya i'm glad i've got Finn because i can take 10 and get a 15 on my sailor check, until the DM says otherwise and with the 2 of us that'll keep the ship going for awhile especially since its a colossal size ship and can take quite a beating.

Also I have my shield strapped onto me and i have some javelins, because even though Kai'itza is excited about the storm he doesn't entirely trust what may emerge because of it. Call him paranoid but you had to be tough to surviv in the swamps and being prudent always saved your tail. ;)

Liberty's Edge

No word from the newgirl yet so give me 1.5 hours (stuck at work still) and once I hit my home pc I'll get the info up.

Lizardfolk

Apparently a storm where Zahara lives has been knocking out power so that may be the cause of her delay ^^;

Liberty's Edge

Kinda good, I'm on call and getting busy due to power hits taking out some servers. hence the delay sorry, looks like tomorrow for the plot stuff. Sorry for the delay, just wanted to keep you all in the loop.

Lizardfolk

NP boss man, stay safe and don't get fried xD

We'll be here lol.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

In other news, I'm done suffering from second-degree burns to my shoulders. I'm very much back and going to make up for my inactivity (and happened to log on when Will paused posting!).

But! I will post as soon as he is done, and probably more than once today, if not three times!

Liberty's Edge

Ouch, posting unpaused btw.

Liberty's Edge

  • Lorekeeper never checked back in, so removing him as an active player.
  • Ren Palor has also been awol long enough, and not present at all since OOC and IC went live that I am removing him from play.

With the amount of players still here, I don't think we need to open a new slot for the missing guys just yet.

I haven't heard back from Zahara either, but I'll give her time.

  • Liberty's Edge

How is dodging meteorites on the surprise scale?
I thought that a tidal wave would have been rather cliche. (I'll save those for later though.) :P

Hope you guys that tied yourself off don't get targeted by a big flaming rock!
